Some of those symptoms sound like Torque converter issues - The bogging down in 4th/5th part, shudder and vibrations. You can usually hear a muffled grinding sound also.

Carbon clogged up cats, with a few cells damaged :

I havnt been able to drive it much but on the dyno should be a good test.

Had the clogged catalytic converters removed yesterday and replaced with mandrel bent pipes. Car is now twice as loud. Some stock rear scuba tank mufflers are going back in once I source some heat shields for them.
-
After a pair of these. Don't mind if they're a bit bent as long as they can be re-straightened.

Pretty easy access to the throttle body gasket but a manifold off job to get all the intake port gaskets sealing. A smoke tester will be your best bet for checking if indeed you have a vac. Leak.

Modern engines also have a lot of sensors to keep them running optimally. For the sake of testing mechanical wear on an engine after 100+ thousand kms it would be ideal to dyno the car in the same conditions as when it was dyno'd with lower kms. i.e same inlet air and coolant temps, on top of replacing Sensors that have become faulty since the previous dyno run.

Be prepared to correct some rangi mods on that example... That's the PO of my M5 selling his 540i...

From what I recall reading in the owners handbook of my old vanos 540i, 5w40 is best suited for our climate. The po has a pre-vanos m62 so the oil grade might be different.

That looks like a Bosch EVP plug. Probably for the inlet temp sensor?

Roadworkers pulling up to tinny houses in their trucks probably has a lot to do with the quality of the repairs....

Nice work! Have got a vanos solenoid seal kit sitting in my garage that this post has given me motivation to put to use.

Interesting point about the 0kms. Being hand built at the M factory I would've thought each new M5 would get put through a test involving driving it or the rear wheels at least. Maybe it's done a few hundred metres?

I'd put it in my Forza 5 come true garage after I win Powerball.

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C304463 Low mileage, as in 0kms. Collected a lot of dust by the looks of it.

You don't mess around, congrats on the new purchase. Bet you're wishing you saw one of these signs every time you get on the M'way.

I think the owner believes this will be a futuŕe classic based on the asking price. With a live rear axle this can't be too good in the handling dept.

Glorious V10 sound!

I was gonna say because the wheel bolts aren't black??
