  1. Oo nice, where did you source the QuickJack from?
  2. Ok so the closest thing I found that was formatted like that was a section saying 'JMK4610'. No idea what JMK means, but perhaps the 4610 is week 46, 2010. Thats a good few years old. But is it too old?
  3. Have added shared link to my maintenance/inspection spreadsheet on the first post. Putting a link here too. Dunno if it's any useful for other e39 owners. It doesn't cover everything, but lets me record my maintenance history.
  4. True. Would it matter much if the tyres are a year or so old though? How drastically do they change? They seemed to be in really good condition and the grip and all seem way better now. I'll check the dates on them next time I'm at the park. Worst case scenario could always just get a new tyre up front - the RE002's @ 235 45 17s are pretty cheap.
  5. So several maintenance checklists state the o2 sensors need changing every 100k kms apparently. Now my question is - is this something worth doing a preventative maintenance on, or should I wait till I start seeing some symptoms of it failing? Am asking because I'm not sure whether waiting for symptoms would cause knock on effects and cause issues elsewhere in the car (e.g. cat converter). My 530 is at ~114k kms now, and I don't have any old service history stating whether it's ever been replaced. Or are these maintenance lists just very pedantic and these don't go bad that quickly? (I understand it can vary from car to car obviously) Edit: Just re-checked, the lists state 100k miles, not kms . Anyway, still asking the question, just 60k kms early.
  6. Replaced a blown number plate bulb. Pretty sure that gave me +10hp, car feels faster now.
  7. Not sure exactly. They are RE001, so definitely not recent (since that model got replaced with RE002). But can't be too old. So far definitely feels nicer to drive. Tempted to replace the rears with S001's now, but they still have about ~5000 (RE002) and ~10000 (RE050A) kms to go.
  8. Ordered it from ECS tuning. Doesn't the SMG paddle shift set up require smg trans? You're ute's getting really far along, been following it. I was thinking of going more towards a manual conversion at some point however. Key words: at some point. I don't have the skills nor time to do something like that!
  9. Good call. Turns out the squeak is there when the handbrake is engaged. When it's disengaged, no squeak.
  10. Been seeing the silver e46 m3 'A2K' parked outside my apartment building last few days. I've seen it on the forum here a fair few times, who's is it again? Looks very tidy!
  11. So today I took my spare out and swapped it with the front left wheel. Spare had less curbing and pretty much a brand new tyre (~7mm tread). Also got a new tyre front right (re002), as previous one was pretty badly worn.
  12. Pretty keen to get this in my e39 :-o
  13. Perhaps it's the ball joints. On that note, just remembered, I've replaced the following in the last 12 months: Rear left ball joint Front left ball joint (I think) + control arm I don't think the right ball joints have been replaced at all. However, they tested wheel play at my WOF couple weeks ago and there was no play.
  14. Noticed something. Whenever I'd get into my car and just kind of fall into the seat, I'd hear the suspension squeak a bit due to the bounce. So I went out and bobbed the car up and down from each corner. With right being the drivers side: Front right: Squeaks Front left: No squeak Rear right: squeaks Rear left: no squeak Could these just be the sway bar bushes or something squeaking? Or can the squeak potentially come from several sources? in which case this thread may be silly. My rear sway bar links and bushes are only around ~10k kms old. Or... is all of this just normal and something just needs a bit of wd40? :-)
  15. I agree. I reckon they look awesome on the car :-)
  16. What bore do e31's use?
  17. Nice. I got my aftermarket amp attached on the ceiling of the trunk, where your DVD player is in the pic. It looks so spacious in there with the single sub! What speakers are you running? I am thinking of upgrading the fronts with some decent two-way speakers (I have an old thread on this somewhere on the audio forum, where people have made a lot of suggestions).
  18. Progress on the headlight adjuster 'practice' diy on my busted headlights.. whenever I get time. (Literally like 10 mins every few days) Have finally managed to take out the adjusting unit (below). Had to use a little bit of force, but once I could take a peak at how it was assembled inside, the right movement made it pop out easily. Have managed to take out both the low and highbeam adjusters now as well. The high beam adjuster screw was hidden by cables coming from the angel eye connector - had to force them away and behind something. Hoping the ones in my car aren't arranged like that, it's kind of annoying - especially when trying to put the new adjuster in. That's the next part... the hard part.
  19. Anyone had much experience with these tyres before and care to share how they find them? How do they compare to re050a's or re002's ?
  20. If the path to converting the dvd's fails, can always resort to an external dvd player (connects via USB). I can lend you one if you need it soon temporarily. A proper full HD movie that hasn't been compressed to death can be over 10gb.
  21. Is that for all 4 rotors? I got my OEM rear rotors from BM Parts for a little over $200.
  22. Surely they must have been But nope. Ended up keeping the front map lights the same. Changed everything else. Maybe need to get a new unit for that.
  23. Did a WOF this morning, which passed (yay). Got the yearly one now. Weather was terrible today but never a bad time for some interior mods. Headed over to Martin's (BreakMyWindow) place later and replaced all the interior bulbs + trunk lights with white-blue LED's. Took some average photos (below), but the look is much better in person imo. Had some trouble with the bayonet bulbs (map lights) in the center console housing - seems there's something up with the connectors in mine.. corrosion etc. After lots of trying neither of us could get the LEDs working in those 2 connectors, despite the old bulbs working fine. Nevertheless, thanks for the effort Martin. I tested the LED bulbs so they were not faulty. The large center bulb worked however, so that's all good and well. Definitely feels a bit more modern inside the car now.. outside too with the puddle lights .
