Thanks Michael. I'm looking for a set of style 61's for the 750i. I have 1..lol Lowered on those to give it that sleeper look.
-
What style E38 wheel are they. I cant see the pics from my work PC. http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/7/E38

Half way through the Chrome line swap. Rear door cards are done which included swapping out the old speakers(green) which looked good with some from the spare car that look old but work a lot better.. Looking good so far but everything needs a good clean(again)..

Awww, thats where I've gone wrong. I'm missing the mrs part of te equation..lol

Looks like you've got a nice shine going on the 740 Brent. I used Meguiars Ultimate Black restorer on the door trim and black on the bumpers and it worked wonders,.

I cant thank you enough. I dont know how I missed it in the other thread unless I was thinking radio tuner=amp. Put another one in and it works however I'm going to have to find one from another car with the business package. The one I put in is from the profesional sound system so not all the functions are working. BUT, I have sound.
-
Success of a sorts with the radio. Replaced the radio module and it works. It's not the right module for my car though so some functions aren't working. But at least now I've got things heading in the right direction. And I have sound.
-
Thank you. Until you mentioned it now I thought there where only the Amp, CD changer and TV module in the boot. I just googled it and discovered I need to dig a bit deeper. The radio module is hidden behind the felt. My job for tomorrow. Thanks for the push in the right direction.

This thread is frigging awesome. Great work your doing. And I'm a fan of detailed pics too. Keep em coming.

Welcome to the forum. Nice car, nice color.

I've posted about this before but I'm still having issues so this time I thought I'd try posting in the appropriate sub forum..lol The stereo in the 740i has suffered from static and clicking when the volume knob is turned. Recently it's begun cutting out the sound and beeping after about 3-4 seconds. So today I replaced the AMP with one that I know works. I turned on the stereo and had good sound with no static or clicking but again for about 3-4 seconds then it starts beeping again. You can turn the stereo off then back on again and have another 3-4seconds of sound before it starts beeping again. You could do this all day. Turn it off, turn it on, 3-4 sec of sound then turn it off and back on and. Well, you get the idea. I've also replaced the ignition switch so I know its not that either. I know you guys with e39's have the same DSP systems so maybe someone has had a similar problem.
-
Pulled apart the ignition switch today and gave all the contacts a clean. Put in a good Amp and I have good sound for about 3 seconds and then it starts beeping at me. Frustrating. I really want to get the stereo going.
-
I would imagine they would go dull very quick without a clear coat.
-
Cheers. I'll give that a go. Thinking I may end up stripping the paint off and then polishing the metal.

Got the old scratched up seats out today. And the new ones in. Bonus it came from a later model car so it had the cup holder in the seat. So I was able to delete the old broken cupholder from the center console. Then I took the wood facing plate from the cupholder I deleted and fitted that to the one on the seat. Looks good.

Thanks guys. It's a easy job so I'll pull the ignition switch out of the parts car and put the into the 740i. I assume thats the one your talking about Andy.
-
No more for now..lol. I have a 1/4 acre paddock out the back that I'm NOT going to fill up with E38's. NO MORE E38's FOR DAVE
-
Removed this And put in this. Not much but it's the beginning of the Chromeline interior transplant. Also removed the back seats from the parts car and gave them a good clean. Ready to go in the 740i now but I've run out of time today. Works calling.

What should be used to strip the old paint off? And any recommendations for paint?
-
I now have a set of style 32's but a PO has painted them and now it's flaking off. Whats the best method to get this off without ruining the original finish underneath which looks good from what I can see.
-
Picked up the parts car today. Loaded with goodies for both the 740i and the 750i. Added bonus. It's the first E38 I've owned with a working stereo. Turns out it has Esche Grau wood in it which is rare. And very hard to take a pic of with out it looking brown. It's definitely more Grey than Brown.
-
LMAO. I saw it tonight and thought if only I hadn't bought one already today..
-
I'll have to wait till I see it. I took a punt(again) and bought it without seeing it. I do know the rear bumper is a bit smashed on the left side though. Definitely going to put the clear lights on the 750. But the shifter lever is yours if you want it.
-
When I'm changing wheels I'll do a side each on the 740 and 750.RC's on one side and 32's on the other and see how it looks. But I'm kinda fond of the RC's on the 740i so I dunno.

Happened to me today. A Manhiem auction and whoever was bidding against me put a bid on as the hammer fell. The auctioneer removed that bid and I won. And it was a steal.
