I see this quoted all the time as a fact, but it really doesn't make sense to me. You can buy two types of locating rings - soft aluminimum and even softer plastic, and they only stick into the wheel a max of about 4mm. There's no ay they support 300-400kg and the dynamic forces of driving. It seems to me they ONLY locate the wheel precisely so that the wheel bolts can support the wheel. Further to that, the 2002 has a flat hub so one could never argue it was designed to have the wheels supported on the part sticking out of the hub (there isn't anything).

My mate ended up using the 1.9 ratios with a 1.6 final drive. It's mint. Using the Mi16 final drive would be awfully short. He came out of a 106 Rallye so was used to short gearing too. We used a 21mm master cylinder from a 306 of some sort - it felt good with 307 brakes and like a rock with 106 brakes (but not bad - just very very firm)... -
If you find the Low Volume Vehicle website, look at the documents, and go to wheels you will find what you need. http://www.lvvta.org.nz/stdWheels&Tyres.pdf In summary: - up to 20mm spacer, needs hubcentric (locating the wheel). Cannot have multiple holes beyond the 4x required; or - up to 27mm bolt-on adapter - can change PCD if you want. Interestingly, you can use a 25mm spacer for motor racing (according to MSNZ) so they can't be that unsafe. Also interesting, the '77 on Porsche 911 Turbo often came with an approx 25mm spacer and they had 300hp and 700kg over that axle...

Get Mal Clark to get the ramp angles changes so it engages more agressively. He can also get more clutches in there. Will cost you though.

Further to that, the rear of JiB's car still needs some work - 300,000km old bushes (all of them, subframe, diff, trailing arms). Eccentric bushes are an option but a pig to adjust (apparently) and go out of adjustment easily. Front's mint though.

Yeah, the 'Mericans are focused on getting it into the weeds. I am more focused on making sure JiB's car has acceptable rear camber!

On JiB's car, being captive at the rear was no problem unless you want to be stupid low. I don't think you could successfully use tender springs at the rear anyway due to the design, plus they're expensive, probably quite hard to find in 60mm diameter and will further increase the spring rate. I personally think that, especially with 500lb rather than 600lb, you will be fine at the rear. I'd recommend trying to get Ground Control to sell you the kit without front springs and buy something to suit here once you've got the struts modified etc (JiB didn't just need less hard springs, he also needed longer ones so they are captive). He had about 1" chopped out of the struts when they were modified.

Hopefully JiB will pipe up with what he has - its worked out well. He had to get front springs locally - I can't remember what we decided the rate needed to change to, but the main reason is that the GC springs are incredibly short so you can't be captive and have the right ride height.

Without wishing to push the e30tech way, the concern over a 0.64 GT28 housing is that it will choke off the top end of the engine and you might never reach 7,000rpm. At an absolute minimum you'd want a 0.86 a/r I think. For that reason, I'd go GT30, with a larger exhaust side.

I believe the Holden/Ford ones are standard Bosch injectors. You should ask someone who knows for certain.

Up to 20mm just need hubcentric and some method of attachment, not multihole, longer studs, etc. Bolt on adaptors can be thicker - up to 27mm - Read the rules here: http://www.lvvta.org.nz/stdWheels&Tyres.pdf http://www.lvvta.org.nz/newindex3.html They will cert you for height and the diameter and width of wheels too, and anything else non-standard.

It won't be so low with slightly larger wheels on it. Must be an almighty pain in the arse to get in and out of driveways and over judderbars, but I often wonder the same thing about Ferraris and Lambos.

A car that doesn't run correctly? The engines are totally different between an M3 and a 325i - I'd be surprised if it worked well, if at all.

I still reckon Falcon Turbo or Holden Supercharged - 300cc and 370cc and you should be able to find secondhand. What Mike said - standard pump if in good condition, standard FPR. Adjustable not required, although you can get away with slightly smaller injectors if you run slightly higher fuel pressure. Good info on injectors here: http://www.injectorsonline.com/indivprod.p...=74&scid=11 Personally I'd go for high impedance injectors - I got low impedance ones as they were a good price second hand (and its hard to find 550cc high impedance injectors) but was too cheap to get the Link Extreme to drive them (rather than the Storm), so had to spend money on resistors...

You shouldn't need either with a megasquirt (as long as your existing pump is fine). Nothing wrong with the Bosch FPRs.

Silly me - I wondered if the rev counter was some kind of self test. Didn't look at the speedo or think the car might actually have been being driven! I have a policy with my car of trying to make sure it sees the upper revs once the oil's up to temp. I want the Vanos to work through its range.

Great progress - I am a bit concerned that I didn't go the extra mile and get the head welded on my M10, but they have a less bad reputation and I have o-rings on the block. I suggest you ask the question about megasquirt at one of the forums that specialise in it. You should get a quick and good answer there.

Maybe Holden supercharged 6 or Ford turbo 6? You could maybe get away with smaller ones.

I actually think its an interesting situation. They are undoubtedly rare. Hoever, it's questionable if they are in short supply, and ultimately the pricing will be determined by whether they are rare and desirable. The two don't always go together.
