It'd never work properly with keepers at the back I don't think, having mucked around with yours. When it was low, it was only 20mm off captive, so I'm not sure you could get keepers in there without lowering it even further (and it only had another 15mm or so it could wind down). So it would have to be stupid low. I think the only captive solution would be longer softer springs if you want to go lower. I reckon a 2" spring would work fine.

JiB's mentioning the good bits, not the bad bits! Rear subframe bushings, diff bushings, and trailing arm bushings have seen better days. It is possible they are 320,000km old. Fixing them up is on the "to do" list, but decent alternatives (eg the camber/toe correcting trailing arm bushes) are quite expensive and JiB's quite cheap. Plus it was a crap job on my 2002 so its probably a crap job on an E30.

LOL. It's been raised about 20mm now, but at least the springs are captive. It's also helped reduce the rear camber. Further info - the car is running hubcentric bolt-on 4x100 to 4x114 spacers, which is why those wheels all fit. It actually goes pretty well for 320,000km.

I drove JiB's car up through the Domain in the wet on the weekend and I couldn't keep it straight - the Proxie 4s had almost no grip... ... and I am not sure that proves much of anything, but I think it should be noted and proves how subjective and car/use specific the whole debate can be.

I've got T1Rs on the M3 and they're fine. I would choose them over Direzzas (which I have also owned).

It still cracks me up that there is such an obsessive focus (by the authorities) on safety factors that apply once a vehicle is **in** an accident (eg strength of parcel tray, full complement of airbags, etc) ... ... yet so little focus on making sure cars have working shock absorbers. Or tyres suited to snow-free roads... factors responsible for **creating** accidents.

To be fair, RB20's are practically free. I assumed he went RB20 until it was up and running, then he can go for gold.

The founder of e30tech seems to go awol for months at a time unfortunately. There is an active thread about it. Hang in there. (edit) I'd like to add that the chances of you asking a question not already answered there are actually kind of minimal - it's just that the search sucks. Yeah sorry mate - didn't meant to rub it in! If it makes you feel better a couple of weeks after that thread I spent 20 mins swearing at JiB's ball joints. He can change his own friggin' struts from now on. In the end I left them with a bit of pentrating spray soaking while I did something else.

Those turbo's might be a bit small for what you want - they'd choke off the top end (assuming you change the head, etc). For a M20B25 or B27 I think you need more like a mid-sized T3/T4.

With spring compressors it's not a hard job ... as long as the ball joints don't give you trouble.

For all that effort I reckon a Lexus V8 could have got in there. Then it would have been badass (even with an auto).

Stock block - heaps Stock rods - heaps Stock pistons - depends on if you tune it right Stock head - depends, but more than enough Stock headgasket - depends on if you tune it right Stock headbolts - depends on if you tune it right Stock fuel pump - heaps Stock injectors - bugger all And in any case, it depends on the turbo and how good the intercooling is. Not all 15psi is created equal.

It should be fine as long as the drain on the turbo points straight down (or close enough - like within 15 deg of straight down), only slopes downwards (no upwards bits), and joins the pan above the normal oil level.

Manual or auto might make a difference to the price (most imports are auto).

Huh? Do you mean on the passenger side of the car? How could you get the line around there without it going upwards?
