I don't suppose they remapped the ecu before making the mods did they?

Are material differences between these? E36 M3 Evo - Getrag 420G http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=23&fg=05 E46 M3 - Getrag 420G http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=23&fg=05 E39 540i - Getrag 420G (presumably different bellhousing) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=23&fg=05 E39 M5 - Getrag 420G http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=23&fg=05 It might be weaker than the 5psd ZF. But if its good enough for an M5, how weak can it be?

Have to run double - M3 crank.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately mine is worn out anyway and I figured I should just get an adjustable one (same price as OEM).

They 6spd boxes are supposed to be weak - to the point where it is a "fact". Although supposition I've seen - evidence I haven't. E46 M3's have (essentially) the same 6spd box, but as far as I am aware they don't have this reputation for being fragile, despite the car being heavier, with a touch more power, and wider tyres etc.

I wish. Just about to place an order for an adjustable sprocket for an M10.
-
Ouch. That's no good at all - sorry to hear it!

Haven't been in a CSL, so take from that what you will... ... but a mate of mine has the regular M3 SMG and he drives it pretty hard and the gearbox aggressively blips on the downshifts. I suspect the little transmission computer adjusts to your driving style (on a M3), but is set to aggressive (on a CSL). Only a guess though.

They race the 1 series as a single class overseas - for instance I am pretty sure they were the celebrity car class a couple of years ago at the Melbourne F1. There is a race prepped one somewhere in the country - it raced last year or the year before in the Production Racing Series.

I meant does it blow cold air. Sounds like no?

I bought some brake cleaner stuff from BNT on special for about $6 a can. Seems just as effective as the expensive options.

Does the a/c still work?

Have a look and make sure the lift pump works (if its there!). A surge tank like David posted is what you need - the lift pump keeps it full. You would have to mount it in the boot, unless you had something custom made and hid it under the car (might be hard to find enough space). I bought mine from Trademe user Sinco Customs and it seems good quality etc. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=868322 He can do different types of fitting (including barbs).

I'm in Mt Eden, so easy peasy. (edit, location now added to profile)

If you use the same hammer, and wack the strut where the ball joint passes through, you won't damage anything except your hearing. (edit) For the other problem, bigger monkey wrench.

Keen as mustard, or a little keener. Would love to see your car and have been meaning to contact you about it anyway. Am available tomorrow or Sunday.

Can't seem to read all race cars series discussion
CamB replied to zenetti's topic in General Discussion
So it costs $75 to read the forum -
PM JiB and ask how much he wants for the one I have of his cluttering up my garage.

Don't forget ... aircon removed rather than just cutting the belt, haha. Another approx 5-6kg there.
-
There should be a sticky - the search doesn't recognise 3 letter/numeral searches, so (for example) "m50 manifold" brings up every post with "manifold".

Well spotted.... $32k, haha. Oh well, he can try.
