  1. Because your in auckland and probally not open on sundays. Repco is handy that it is just down the road and open 7 days a week.
  2. Ive had the linings off my Lucas pads come apart and separate from the metal backing pad. Was making a quick hard stop from approx 180kph and suddenly theres a horrible metal on metal noise. checked the pads and the linings had decided to let go. Also had some real cheap Silverlines before these, ABSOLUTE CRAP, 2 or 3 hard stops from 120kph or so and they were cooked.
  3. You should slow down, you might kill someone.
  4. Cops could possibly be exempt, I know they use their mobiles sometimes instead of their radios.
  5. Its a 520i, but has a ZF gearbox. I checked, its got ZF stamped on the side of it. Its been converted to manual, it has a automatic gauge cluster)
  6. Its a m20, it has a ZF gearbox. Looks like someone else already had a crack at removing it but got stuck on the torx bolts
  7. No the gearbox would fit. the 318is uses a getrag 240, which will fit the m20b25. E30 320i's came with getrag 240's standard.
  8. Hey, there was a guy that made 359whp on a m10, lasted for 3 years!
  9. Spent about 2 hours trying to separate a ball joint on my mates car the other weekend to change the springs, the other side came off in 5 mins though.

    oil spots

It did get rid of it, but it did that by taking off the top layer of concrete

Haha yeah, it was spirits of salt... They recomended it. It tuned the nice smooth concrete into rough crappy sandy stuff.
  12. Im rolling on bumpstops so its a bit harsh.

    Quick Questions

Actually a 240 will fit the m50, and if the m50 is in a E30 will fit even better then the 260. (as the shifter lines up correctly)

I got some acid from Mitre 10, nasty sh*t. She said to water it down, though I didnt and it ate holes into the concrete :/
  15. So how is the turbo manifold going to work? And thats not an "XS Power" turbo is it?
  16. You can also fit a 3" pipe between the steering column and the body. Stop making excuses!
  17. It is a 1:1 ratio FPR, so for every lb of boost, it will increase fuel pressure by 1 lb. (as far as I understand it) If you are using a aftermarket tuneble ECU, there is no reason to change the FPR.
  18. Yeah bearing and rings are on the list of things to do to it before it goes in. Does anyone know much about the hydraulic lifters? Some seem to be jammed completely solid, others I can compress easily with my fingers, some not so easily, and some compress more than others... Are the ones I can compress collapsed? Or are the ones I cant compress jammed?
  19. Holsets are cheap if you can find them, and perform quite well Ive got a booster out of a E32 735, supposedly the same as a 325ix booster (same part numbers) it should bolt right up, just hopefully it clears. You dont happen to know the diameter of your booster do you? At the moment im collecting parts and freshening the engine up, I think all I need now is E36 engine mounts, coolant hoses and a clutch kit to get the engine in the car and going. Engine is currently stripped apart, the rings were shot so I will replace those, the bearings are in mint condition (no marks at all on them, except a few tiny ones on a 1 or 2), and I will be getting the head crack tested and checked for flatness next month or so and then sticking the engine back togethor.
  20. Ill be running a getrag 240 at first, then I will change it somthing stronger if it self destructs. I was planning on running a Holset HX35, and probally will still run one if I can find one, otherwise I will start looking at somthing else. Ill be running a Link ECU, pretty much because they're alot of tuners around in NZ for them and alot of support if anything goes wrong with it. What brake booster are you using? Edit: Oh and while ive got the engine apart some of the lifters seem to be jammed, well most of them actually. Some of them press in pretty easily, some press in easily but not as far as others, and some dont budge at all, though you can still spin the inside part of them around. Ive got them soaking in some kero to try and loosen them up a bit. Anyone know much about them and what they are supposed to be like?
