Someone I knew also tried this and failed, he was in his 40 - 50s and down on his luck and thought this would be an easy way to make money. He got caught, now his life is effectively *f**ked*. Its a stupid thing to do.

Looks awesome. Does it go much better than the m40?
-
I'd say its do-able for sure, bear in mind those particular problems that will almost "always" happen though, stripped nuts and bolts are my favourites!

LOL yes if spark plugs fail I advise against this method,

The thump is most probably the diff when you "clunk" into gear, the trouble with shifiting into gear can be caused by the clutch, I've had this on a few cars, and I bled the clutch and gave it new fluid, and it came right, (including my e30)

I paid $200 for a VERY good job for my bonnet, similar to less for boot lid, I needed my boot lid painted and actually went to Ray and asked about a boot lid and he had on the exact right color and in great nick which was heaps cheaper, worth a shot?

I half expected to read "Please note, is not actually turbo, fake IC fitted for looks" Lol.

It could be a few things but if its as loud as you say it will be your valves, they need adjusting and the gap needs to be set, its an easy DIY or a cheap job for a mechanic to do, It could also be your injectors, if overly noisy could be on the way out. To find out what it is (specifically) get a long screw driver and hold it to your rocker cover and put your ear to it (like a stethoscope) and if you hear the ticking coming from there, its your valves that need adjusting. Likewise with the injectors, hold it to the injectors and if you hear excessive ticking then that's your problem, bear in mind injectors ALWAYS tick no matter what but if their mega loud this could be a problem. Of course it could be other things but these two are IMO the most likely.

Not the same thing, but a friend of mine (Ven on this forum) his e30 has the sports mode trans and I have no idea how similar if at all these are to yours, but his was doing similar sort of things, it turned out to be a ground to the Automatic controller (computer) was loose, and when it was disconected the trans error light would show and exhibit very similar symptoms, and when the wire would contact it would run fine, Just a possibility? edit: Typo's.

I'm In Disbelief about this rear suspensoion
QuickSilver replied to tibbs.james's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
No worries just sounded like the same as my problem, the rubber inside the centre bearing hanger that I had was almost totally gone and I think this was leaving it too much room and the whole prop shaft would spin at times like take off, or at low speeds and with me it happened especially when going slowly (first gear) uphills, -

Aside from all the other solutions mentioned above, When I got mine I was almost positive I had a clunk from the rear, and I assumed it was the diff. It wasnt actually and turned out to be the centre bearing and hanger, it would happen at take off where the prop shaft would spin and hit the bearing hanger, normally described as vibration but this was DEFINATELY a clunk, just a thought? Otherwise the top diff bolt being loose is common and I also had this happen, is it possible that the diff you got may have been fine when you bought it but something happend to it in the meantime? -
Cool that sounds promising, the place I work for does not really do anything related to what their selling either (I work with people with intellectual disabilities) But we have alot of cars which need alot of maintaining and often need repairs since they are used ALOT, this wouldn't stop me from being able to open one would it? Surely as long as they get paid etc they shouldn't have a problem with it,

Is it just one clunk when it happens? Or a series of clunks? -

At my work I'm in charge of maintaining all our work vehicles, I do light repairs and bigger jobs go to a mechanic, and I often make trips to BNT or Repco or similar shops. It would make sense if I set up a trade account with these shops since I work for a Charitable Trust so that should'nt be a problem should it? How do I go about doing this? Aside from mechanics etc, has anyone else setup a trade account and can offer me any advice? Thanks Alex.
