Worth 2x the price in Manual form, especially if 2 dr, if its a 4dr auto its worth about 2-3k perhaps.
-
Yeah, I will get one from Jeff Gray here in CHCH, cheers for that. What size tyres did you go with? I was thinking of 205/55/15's for mine when I change the wheels, but it looks like you might have gone lower profile? cheers

Polished up and Detailed my E30 a bit, used Claybar, Polish, Wax. Uploaded with ImageShack.us More pics in the show room section for anyone interested. I thought it came up quite well, but I should have done a better job of the black bits.
-
Today I Washed, Clay Bar'd, Waxed the E30 using http://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/online-sto...176#Description It was on Special for $50, which probably isn't that cheap, considering it only came with 1 Clay Bar, but it did the job. I could have done a better job with the black bits and the wheels, but the main focus was on the paint. Took about 3 Hours, which isn't that bad. Nice, are those the wheels from Mag and Tyre Direct? Where does one buy a new IS lip? Cheers

If for some odd reason you want a 190e
charles28 replied to charles28's topic in Other European Cars
Yeah, have done a few road trips in mine, ran up about 10,000ks in 6 months.. for a car that costs pocket change its pretty good. But for some reason I find the Sports Seats in the E30 Comfy, most people don't. -
Just wondering what shipping cost to nz? also I guess you had to pay GST too
-
Then this has to be the best for sale in NZ Mines tidy, but not this tidy, mines done 163,000k, this ones only done 78,000k. So if you always wanted an old 190E Merc here's your chance (in CHCH). http://www.turners.co.nz/Vehicles/Pages/Ca...x?RefId=1095930

Guess its not a bad buy in some ways, plenty of people seem to want good money for a manual 328i. Perhaps someone should buy it and fit a newer M engine with a 6 speed box. Or build up an engine like http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...d.php?t=1715145

Doh, the 540i passed through at $1200, the 535 with 78,000 miles sold for $1000, i couldn't bid as my credit card details were out of date on my turners login, stupid site doesn't let you update it, you have to get the admins to remove the details so you can add them again, so couldn't buy a bargin.. this time

I used a 13 X 810

I think deep down I want this model, I need 210kw in my life. http://www.turners.co.nz/Vehicles/Pages/Ca...x?RefId=1081470

Yeah I didn't believe the 475hp claim myself, which is why I'm aiming for a safer 250whp.
-
I'm actually looking into doing this myself, in the mean time i'm in research mode. A lot of people on the over seas forums suggest ARP head studs and new head gasket as a min and claim this is safe for up to 475hp, however your compression is on the high side, you might need to keep the power down and see how it goes, the most important thing is tuning. So far it seems its around $200 USD for the head studs, $320 USD for new Bosch 42LB Injectors, that cheap SS manifold on Trademe (its all I can find, I'd get my mate at Turbocare to tidy it up). I'd be allowing at least 4-5k for this, (doing most of it yourself). its amazing how quickly it adds up. I'd go with a MAP sensor, the Miller stuff isn't that great for turbo from what I've read, although since I have a war chip already I might have to go down that road, however I'd need a suitable MAF sensor, ie 3.5inch. Once my house is ready (Being Built) and finished and I move into it I will get started, (in about 2-3 months) I have no room to do decent work on the car where I am. I'm only looking for around 250whp to start with, which isn't much, but it might keep it reliable. The problem with boost is, you always want more, I know this from experience, I've had many turbo cars over the years, after 3 months at say 250whp i'd be wanting more already, but thats part of the fun i guess.

Tidy '96 e39 one owner! Awesome find.
charles28 replied to tobytoblerone's topic in TradeMe discussions
Its too old to bother with, as Jeffbebe said, 17 years old.. If I was to buy an E39 now it would have to be a 2001 or newer car I think and you can get some nice 2001 + models cheaper then that with Motorsport Kit etc. -
Interesting, according to car jam its imported from China, Low Mileage, assuming its real. But, no tow bar.. It might be really cheap though, WOF ran out today, Rego Nov last year Options on that one: Code Description (interface) Description (EPC) S200A KATALYSATOR - ENTFALL without catalytic converter S216A SERVOTRONIC HYDRO STEERING-SERVOTRONIC S226A SPORTLICHE FAHRWERKSABSTIMMUNG Sports suspension settings S401A SCHIEBE-HEBEDACH, ELEKTRISCH Lift-up-and-slide-back sunroof, electric S458A SITZVERSTELLUNG ELEKTR.FAHRER/BEIF. Asking price for this V12 e38, steep?
charles28 replied to tobytoblerone's topic in TradeMe discussions
Its imported from Hongkong that 6k one, seems hard to believe that its only done 62,000k -
Hmm that poses a problem, turners here in CHCH only allow you to go 50km on their own crappy test track that's about 150m long and quite narrow.
-
Means less Emission stuff too though right? might have an extra 2-3bhp
-
This is probably a bit shabby, but I might bid on it if its cheap enough, would be handy for when I move house in March (assuming its built on time) should be able to tow a decent dual axle covered trailer, the old MERC 190E can only tow 1000kg total according to the tow bar. http://www.turners.co.nz/Vehicles/Pages/Ca...x?RefId=1093020 It's rather basic on the options list, but I've never owned an E34, or even a car with an engine of 3.4L I'll test drive it on Tuesday and have a look anyway

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-548026831.htm According to car jam the odo stopped in about 2007, so its probably done a good 230,000k + I thought it might have been an SA built car, but it seems that its not. Might be good value for someone wanting to do a manual conversion to build up a manual e30 on a budget.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-549263552.htm Broken down near leeston, my guess is fuel pump or coil etc.
-
Cheers It would seem there's still plenty to do, but no rush I guess, good things take time as they say.

For a while now i've had an intermittent vibration that only seemed present between about 1500-2000rpm. However that issue hasn't presented itself since I re-sealed these parts (Circled in Orange). Both pieces could be removed easily and didn't seem to be sealed with anything, so I used some RTV. The brake one on the right side of the pic was actually popping out of its socket about 1/2 way. (If you just pressed it back in). The car seems to idle a little better too, however the idles not perfect, thats still something that needs tuning on the WAR chip. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I might have solved the issue with the car. That is it hasn't played up since I re-sealed these parts (Circled in Orange).
