Cheers for that ... got the grills, which is why I need the nosepanel haha! Hmmm if bumper is going to be really expensive I might just stick to my original plan of buying a lip for the stock bumper.

Hey all. As some of you noticed at the Chch meet, the front of my car is "good from afar, but far from good". The bumper, nosepanel and bonnet is stonechipped to hell and I'm going to have these parts resprayed soon. However I thought if I'm going to the expense of painting all this why not facelift my car at the same time? So I need: - A facelift nosepanel (painted Boston green would be ideal, but I'm not fussed) - And an M-tech front bumper (once again in Boston green would RULE) More so just looking for prices on the bumper for comparison when I ring up wreckers. I'm imagining freighting a bumper will cost a shiteload! Everyone's help is appreciated as usual! Cheers, Mark.

Top Gear review of the M3, CLK63 AMG and the RS4
Mark replied to Driftit's topic in General Discussion
If you can, watch the episode where they go to Africa for a "buy a car for under 1500 quid" challenge. Absolutely hilarious!!! I love Top Gear so much, just wish Prime would put the new season on so I can stop wasting my bandwidth downloading episodes! -
Well, if they introduce that device in Victoria expect it to happen soon after here in NZ because our govt models their road policing on the Victorian system. (Which has the strictest speeding laws in Australia, but also the highest yearly road toll....go figure!)

No.... he'll hit TURBO BOOST, fly off a handily-placed ramp and over a bewildered street vendor selling fruit, before landing in front of the bad guy's car and pulling a hand brake slide, blocking his escape. Duh!

I used to have a Cooper as a company car. Man I gave that thing hell! It just stuck like sh*t to a blanket so gave you a LOT of confidence (too much in fact) to chuck it around tight bends at ridiculous speeds. I was out on the hills one day and made the mistake of lifting mid-corner to try to correct an understeer skid and nearly went off a bank! Needless to say I was a bit more careful after that! I'd buy one but only if I had a lot of cash to chuck around, they're not very practical and cost a fair bit too.

Give it a real good twist.... these German cars are built tough!

There plenty of info out there on the net with regards to the E36. It has very well documented common problems so do a google search for "E36 Common Faults FAQ" and start reading. As long as you're prepared to keep on top of maintenance issues and perhaps do a bit of the easier work yourself, then you should have no problems running a 318 for the same money as an equivalent Japanese car. Good luck with your search.

Don't cut anything mate.... just pop down to the wreckers and buy the diffuser piece from a 325i, they come standard with a bigger hole for the twin-pipe exhaust.

I'm no wheel expert, but I have seen M3 CSL wheels on a Holden Monaro/Pontiac GTO before.... not sure if that helps!
-
Awesome! It was you that I saw then. Get some pics up in the showroom section so everyone can have a look! Glad you had a good time on the roads to Nelson. I love any excuse to get out on the open road, the E36 is such a planted car through the bends, it's a joy to drive. I'll honk if I see you around town!

Looks like someone attacked your car with a twink pen! As has been said.... I admire your effort, but it just doesn't work. Get a bimmersport sticker to replace it perhaps?

You need to upload your sig pic to a hosting service like Photobucket Then click on the insert image button and paste in the url that links to your pic.

That's pretty gangster! You almost need a chaffeur (I'm free.... )

Pics required to assess performance worthiness....

Pod filter does NOTHING! NOTHING I tells you!!! IMO, you're wasting cash that can go towards your lights. My 2 cents.
-
Just got them from seller Eurolights on Trademe. Link here It's probably cheaper if you buy the whole set and then onsell the front indicators. Cost for my set was $270 plus $35 shipping. You'll need a set for a coupe though, which are slightly more expensive because the demand is greater. Good luck, they do look awesome, I can't stop going outside to check out my car!!!

I agree that it's totally lame that people put M badges on any old BMW. I put it down to lack of knowledge. People don't know the history of the M cars and assume that it's just a logo that has a place on their car "because it's a BMW". I also feel that BMW itself cheapened the "Motorsport" brand by offering M-Spec interior/exterior packages as an optional extra on any base model E36 (think they did it on E46 too). The only thing you can really do is have a chuckle to yourself and rest easy in the knowledge that you know it's not a genuine M.

So there's a cheap, unused chamois for sale on Trademe today?

Haha, M3 badge on a 5 series! Putting one on a bog standard 318 is bad enough, but onto a 5 series??

Yup....got my new DEPO light kit.... see thread here.

Well 3 weeks after ordering my new lights, they finally arrived. I was hoping to have them in time for the Chch meet which hacks me off now more than ever because they really set the car off and the Boston green looks so much better without the amber indicators clashing with it! Install was straight forward, although had to do some dodgy panelbeating to get the right hand side tail to sit flush. This was due to the bolt threads not being long enough. Also; the bulb holder for the right front indicator was very brittle and broke as I unclipped it, so that's taped up until I can get to BMW tomorrow. But anyway: Here are some before and after pics.... All in all, certainly a worthwhile mod if you're still rocking the ambers!

You're due for an inspection service! Get it to the dealer pronto! Haha! Are you going to hook up the rev counter?
-
Nice car bro.... seems like it's having a bit of an identity crisis though! You can replace the badges in the side mouldings fairly easily, just pop off the moulding and they come out from the back. The dealer will sell you some new ones with either "M" or "Motorsport International" written on them, but I'm guessing they won't be cheap! Technically your car is more Motorsport than ACS, so perhaps debadging is the way to go?
