  1. I think the only way to return to "normal view" is to clear your browser's cache.
  2. This is a useful article to read if you're looking at buying an E36. Also, make sure you join a site like bimmerforums and lurk around there for a while.... you'll learn heaps about these cars there. (and here too of course!)
  3. I'm off to buy an Instant Kiwi ticket... anyone else want one while I'm there?

    Bull Run

Dammit I missed this last night cos my girlfriend likes watching "Ghost Whisperer"! Might have to check out some episodes online....
  5. Haha.... I'd get weirded out if that message DIDN'T show up on my OBC! I'm so used to it now. Thanks for reminding me I need to get that fixed at my next service!
  6. NWS? Depends where you work I guess!

    MP3 player advice

I have my ipod connected to my ipod compatible headunit. I chose this route because: a) I didn't want to have to drill holes in my console to mount the ipod (I control the ipod from the headunit while the ipod sits neatly in the glovebox) b ) sound quality is WAAAY better than a cassette adapter or wireless FM radio tuner. Even plugging an mp3 player into your headunit using an RCA cable reduces sound quality because the sound travels through the player's headphone pre-amp first. Simply put, because ipod is so popular, there are more options available for connecting it to your car stereo. If you're adverse to getting an ipod because of itunes there are programs out there that allow you to use Windows Media Player or another music library app instead. Unfortunately using another brand of mp3 player will mean the dash-mount option is probably the only route, but someone may know otherwise. Hope this helps.
  8. OK... just been down to have a look at this car and WOW!!! I walked into the showroom and my jaw hit the ground! The previous owner obviously loved this car more than his own mother, it is absolutely immaculate! The only giveaway that this isn't a brand new 318is straight off the showroom floor is the odometer reading! The original "brilliantrot" paint hasn't a mark on it. The interior is spotless and I was tempted to eat my lunch right off the rocker cover... the engine bay was THAT clean! I asked about the fan deletion and the dealer said the previous owner did it purely for aesthetic reasons. There's a brand new fan from Chch BMW sitting in the boot along with a DVD player box full of receipts, forum printouts for DIY jobs, magazine articles on the model, service records and more. Worst bit? The owner traded it in on a 911!!! I know these cars normally go for around 7-10k but even if you bought this car for 12k it'd be a steal! It is absolutely MINT! I'm off to detail my car now, I feel inadequate after seeing the effort put into that little iS.
  9. I'm going to do some tyre-kicking on this car this morning! I dealt with this dealer a while ago when I was looking for my car.... nice guy. I'll talk to him about the price, see what his rationale is for putting a 15 grand sticker price on it!!!
  10. From the condition of the car it looks like it's been a hard driven 132,000 km's! But hey, most of that cosmetic stuff could be fixed over a weekend. Paint the skirts, get some cheap factory alloys for it and you've got a nice looking car!
  11. My reversing buzzer on my jap import Bimmer was located under the steering column shroud. I unscrewed the panel and pulled out the plug. My guess is look under and around the dash for a small "speaker grill" of sorts cos the sound has to come from somewhere!
  12. Drooling over pic 4... my choice for sure!
  13. My father owned a South African built black 325i sedan.... it looks very similar to the "Motorsport" in question except this car has an M-Technic kit and some ricey M badges (look at those horrible "M" roundels!!!) Looking at the photos, isn't an M-Tech steering wheel supposed to have the M stripes along the bottom of the vertical spoke? On another note, I'm sure I read somewhere that Recaro never actually made seats for BMW and that the "leather Recaro's" in these Bimmers are just BMW knockoffs. (this may or may not be true) Regardless, my father sold his car about 5 years ago for the princely sum of $8500. So this car certainly isn't worth $13500!!!

    Funny but true!

    - Triangular sandwiches taste better than square ones. - At the end of every party there is always a girl crying. - One of the most awkward things that can happen in a pub is when your pint-to-toilet cycle gets synchronised with a complete stranger. - Sharpening a pencil with a knife makes you feel really manly. - You're never quite sure whether it's against the law or not to have a fire in your back garden. - Nobody ever dares make cup-a-soup in a bowl. - You never know where to look when eating a banana. - You always feel a bit scared when stroking horses. - The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity. - Every bloke has at some stage while taking a pee, flushed half way through and then raced against the flush - It's impossible to look cool whilst picking up a Frisbee. - Driving through a tunnel makes you feel excited. - Old ladies can eat more than you think. - You've turned into your dad the day you put aside a thin piece of wood specifically to stir paint with.

    Autofest 2007 - Pics

Sounds like a plan! But is there a way to tell all the cyclists in Christchurch to keep off the hills on the day of our drive? Damn idiots almost killed me and themselves on more than one occasion! I mean, who rides two abreast on a road barely wide enough for two cars? /end rant!

    Autofest 2007 - Pics

In the back of one of the photos you can see a RUF enhanced 911.... very cool. There were a couple of Carrera models there, but I'm not that famliar with Porsches so there may have been others.
  18. Hey all... here are some shots from today's Autofest at Hagley Park. I just went along for the morning session and rally run up around the Port Hills through Gebbies Pass and Tai Tapu and back to town again. It was a great drive and good to see what the 325 can do through the twisty stuff! I didn't head back to the park after the rally run... but I did drive past and there were plenty more cars parked up for the afternoon. Cheers must go to the organisers too! Hope it happens again next year. My girlfriend's favourite car of the day... the new S5. This 2002 Turbo had to be my favourite car of the day. Beautifully presented, love the Alpina wheels! Two M50 powered Bimmers side by side!

    Chips

They have very strict emission controls in the USA (esp California) so they have different exhaust systems and engine tunings I believe.

    Chips

I'm no expert but it just looks too good to be true. Considering you pay $1200 plus for a properly tuned chip from places like superchips.co.nz. Also, US spec cars differ from the rest of the world so they may not actually work. P.S: This guy also sells Pubic hair trimmer sets..... enough said!
  21. I replaced the control panel bulbs in my E36 with ones from Supercheap Auto.... 2 for 3 bucks IIRC.
  22. I have the same problem... it's to do with the backing strip that projects the info onto the screen peeling off over time. There's a walkthrough here on how to fix it if you're game! I'm a terrible DIY'er so I'm thinking of taking the instructions to a place here in Chch that repairs car stereos and seeing if they can do it for me!
  23. Cheers for the help guys.... I'll let my workmate know and post a pic once it's all done.
