That solves it. On my car purple/blue wire is hanging loose. Thank you Alan... really appreciate it.Â

When I bought the E30 the windshield cleaning system didn't work. Finally got around to working on it today.... traced the problem to a blocked T-junction. Popped down to Bunning's and bought a new one as well as a new length of hose as the old stuff was looking rather ratty. Long story short, it all works now except the washer fluid warning lamp on the overhead check control won't turn off. Checking it out further I see that someone's had a go at being Mr Backyard Auto Electrician and wired up a mess of electrical tape and household wiring connectors to the float sensor in the fluid tank. I must admit, it worked until I disconnected it but I just need to see what wires go where and which plug I need to get from BMW. Here's a diagram, the bodged up bit is the connector that goes into part 4 (the float sensor) Can anyone post a pic of how it looks in their car for me? Cheers!

Here's a link to the DIY for when I did mine: Black kidney grilles DIY

Yeah dude, I've still got it. Give me a text with time you want to pick up. Cheers, Mark.

Hey Sam... good talking to you at the Spencer Park meet. Can't wait to see the progress on the BBS-mobile Check this link out, might give you some inspiration!

Manual conversion. Seriously though... intake, cat back exhaust, computer remap. It's been discussed heaps before, some may also suggest M50 manifold conversion, but not on an auto, it would make it more sluggish off the line. If you want a REALLY cheap mod. De baffle your stock airbox and put a K&N filter element in there. It will help the car breathe a bit better and sound cooler too.

You can buy the Euro plate holder for your car from BMW.

Yes. And the cops are cracking down on them at present. $200 fine if you get busted.

Not suggesting it's worth seven grand. I imagine it'll sit on TM for ages at that price. Perhaps 5'ish? Looks to have some interesting goodies on it that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere for a decent price.

A general bitch about the integrity of my panel beater.

About to be listed on Trademe. -
You make a very good point Graham. I was thinking about buying parts elsewhere and supplying them, but as you say at least I have security knowing that if something goes wrong it's completely on their head to fix it. So, cheers for that! The car goes in on the 4th... ATM I'm like a kid before Christmas, I'm sure it will be like driving a completely different car when I get it back.

Yeah... but not my one.

Don't know if there are any such places up your way, but here in Chch we have this place: Wavetech They service headunits etc... took an old headunit of mine in when various buttons failed on it.

Edited original post... I can't even add... it actually comes to $2019. If I can get a slightly sharper price on the fuel pump then I'll be happy. I'm actually glad that it needs the headwork, will run like clockwork after it's all finished and no more noisy tappets!

It's spam... just delete it.

Just had a call from DCH Motorsport regarding the engine work that needs doing on the E30. I'm happy to pay to have my car running sweet, just wondering if there was any way of sourcing parts etc myself to save a few bucks here and there? Here's what is being done and quoted costs. Cylinder head: Remove head. Replace hex head bolts with torx variety. remove camshaft, grind worn lobes and replace. new gasket set, oil and filter, coolant. PRICE labour inclusive = $1150 + GST (not incl head bolts at this stage as waiting for price) Fuel pump, replace with new OEM part @ 340+ GST. 30-45 mins labour @ 70p/h Replace broken collar on left rear shock mount. $60 + GST, 1 hr labour @ 70p/h Replace leaking rear gearbox seal. $35+GST 45 mins labour @ 70 p/h TOTAL including GST (labour values averaged to nearest hour) $2019 This may increase as cambelt and water pump may need doing as well. What do you guys think? I know most of you will say "DIY, it's not hard!".... but you're talking to a guy that barely passed 3rd form metal work!

Mate, I could go on and on about shocking service I received from people who have worked on my cars over the years. Here's a couple: The installer I used to put an ipod headunit in my E36 and run the cable to the glove box managed to: - Saw a shitty jagged hole twice the size necessary in the side of the glovebox, lose 1/2 the screws needed for holding the glovebox and trim panel in place, and completely break the airvent assembly when putting it back in. The paint and panel shop I used let their apprentice loose on my paintwork, he opened the spray booth while the paint was curing and silicon residue from another job landed on the bonnet causing fisheyes everywhere. The paint was also buffed until it was burnt and when I complained they simply flatted the bonnet again and rebuffed it meaning the paint was thinner than Kate Moss on the Lemon Detox diet and every stone chipped it to the bare metal. They also broke my foglight and refused to pay, saying it was like that when they got it... despite the fact the foglight bracket was also broken and there was a thumbprint in Boston Green Metallic dried nicely on the lens!!!! This may seem like I'm moaning, but the day I get good service from somewhere I will post it here and encourage others to go there. As for now, it seems that no matter where I go for car-related services everyone does a half-arse job. -
Shut ya face. I challenge you to taste the difference between Oranjeboom and Heineken in a blind taste test. You will fail I guarantee!

No worries.... slow day at work BLACK KIDNEY GRILLE DIY STEP 1: Remove kidney grilles from car. Pull off the two metal clasps at the top, tilt grille forward and lift off. STEP 2: Separate slats from chrome outers by using a flat head screwdriver to prise the clips off. This is a PITA and I broke one of my clips because I got impatient. Then, take your grilles into the laundry tub and wash thoroughly with warm soapy water. STEP 3: Gather your materials. You will need: 600 or 800 grit sandpaper, a can of plastic adhesion promoter (primer for plastic) a can of matte black acrylic paint, wax and grease remover, a clean rag, cold beer of your choice. STEP 4: Start sanding. Keep going until the grille has an over-all hazy appearance. Then, spray Wax and Grease remover onto the clean rag (mine is clean I promise ) and wipe the grille clean of sanding dust and dirt etc. STEP 5: Shake the hell out of your can of plastic primer. Apply 2 or three light coats, waiting a few minutes between each coat. Make sure you get good coverage on the all those hard to get places, especially the inside of the grilles. STEP 6: Let the primer dry for an hour. Then shake the hell out of your can of matte black paint and start painting. Once again, obey the golden rule of applying many light coats. The more the better. I did about 5 coats, leaving 1/2 an hour between each coat. Let the paint dry overnight before clipping the slats back in and reinstalling the grille on the car. Minta!

Looks to be a factory option. Here's the part diagram on BMWFans. Factory Aerodynamics Package - E46

Stock, a 328 puts out 192hp at the crank. CAI, exhaust and a remap will boost that to 210-220hp. To get more than that you need to start doing things like an M50 manifold conversion. It's not all about outright HP though. A workmate of mine has just upgraded from an Evo 6 to a 330i and he said the drive is far better even though there's now around 80kw less under the bonnet.
