Had the same problem on my E36. The fuse for the auxillary fan was blown. Check the fuse box, the little map under the fuse box cover will point you to the right ones. Also, make sure your cooling system is bled properly, air pockets in the system can cause overheating problems along with poor heater performance.

.... Ollie, I seriously think you should employ these guys to film and edit Bimmersport cruises and meets etc.

Given that this thread was started 3 years ago, I'd hope the OP would have sorted this by now.

Do you know anyone in Chch who could pick it up for you? The reason I've asked for local pickup is because postage is a PITA. The diffuser cost me about $150, so this is a bargain...
-
Yep, there's no such thing as a "cheap" M5!

I have a few odds and sods floating around in my garage: Motorsport style rear diffuser for non-M bumpers ($60) E36 p/fl nosepanel - Boston Green - stonechipped but straight ($60) E36 p/fl kidney grills - one clip broken, but good condition ($30) E36 front bumper skin - Boston green - resprayed before being removed from car ($60) E36 bumper moulding incl Euro plate holder - ($30) Local pickup only please. Cheers!

Sorry to threadjack. But about how much would it cost for a mechanic to replace the camshaft and head studs on an M20... labour/parts included?
-
Are you insured with the same insurance company your parents use? Cos that helps too.
-
All depends on age and driving history, fines, accidents etc. My premium for the 325 is $600 a year with a $500 excess.
-
Too true... a nice NZ new example in Alpine white sold in Chch recently for $8500. It only had 150k on the clock.
-
Remember, new E30 parts are now listed in the "Mobile tradition" catalogue, they make less of them now so part prices go up UP UP!

Cars older than 20 years can be imported under special importation laws for cars deemed classic or collectable.

You're selling already? Probably should have checked to see if you could get insured before you bought it eh! Bogan M3 back on TM

The Getrag will (hopefully) be a 260... that's the box you need. Have you also thought of suspension and brakes etc? With a heavier engine you'll need to upgrade to 6 cylinder shocks and springs and also upgrade the brakes (318's run rear drums) to handle hauling the extra weight to a stop.

OMG, I think I have split piece BBS RS wheels on my cars like these ones. Awesome!

BMW didn't release any cars with remapped ECU's so there is no such thing as a "Motorsport ECU". The only way you can improve your car's power and acceleration is by having a specialist remap your stock ECU, or by buying a performance chip that plugs into it. You can expect around 15-20hp improvement, redline shifted to 7000rpm and improved throttle response (these are quoted figures from chip tuning/remap companies, individual cars may vary especially as many of the chips are manufactured in America for American spec cars running on lower octane fuel)

I hear putting an M3 badge on the back will give you 40 more horsepowers though!
-
So the first listing is a scam? No way would you sell a car like that for 15k
-
Yeah, a previous owner colour-coded the chrome bumpers and the shadow-lined the window trim too. The bumpers need re-doing and I was given a spare so will have a crack at re-painting them at some point. No other ACS bits AFAIK, although the exhaust screams something fierce at high RPM so I'm guessing it's aftermarket.

Hey Alex. Welcome to Bimmersport mate, check the Christchurch Meetings forums, looks like we'll be going on another drive soon.... be good to see you there.

If you're reading this, I made it back to Christchurch with my new E30! Over 10 hours driving... all with no stereo! At one point I went mildly insane and started having conversations between myself and the car. It drives like a dream, didn't miss a beat and sounded pornographic snicking into second and flat footing it through the tunnels south of Kaikoura. Noticed a number of things that will need to be looked at, namely the non-existent air con, the noisy tappets, blown bulb behind the OBC and the pop rivet through the aerial to hold it in place! I can now see why E30's are the most prevalent car on Bimmersport, they're a spectacular car for their age! Didn't take many pics on the drive down, but here's a few. I'll start a new Project thread once I've given it a thorough detail.
