I still have my "iPod photo" which I bought 3 years ago.... and it still runs perfectly. Used to use it for the daily walk to work, but now it spends its days in my car's glovebox as my jukebox. The charger on my gf's iPod shuffle just broke the other day though.... and just out of warranty too.... so for me it's 50/50 as far as user satisfaction goes!

In the awesome episode of Top Gear where Hammond drives the Renault F1 car, they mention that F1 engines are strung to such high tolerances that all the parts have to be warmed up to operating temp with a heating system before starting the engine otherwise it would seize on ignition! So, I highly doubt they run pump gas in their cars!

Reading through the website I still have no better idea as to how the fuel works to clean the deposits (apart from the fact that the videos show that it does compared to a "typical market fuel"). I guess they don't want to reveal their secret recipe.
