    price?

I'd say dealers may WELL ask over- inflated prices for a 6 speed e39, but I dunno, maybe they are worth 16k ish? 'Worth' is a subjective term anyhow, so no one here is right or wrong. They are a car which is still depreciating. They tend to be kitted up in 'S5' guise, or the ones you see in auck do.
  2. Sweet will be in contact in a short while... I'll have to sort it logisticaly too
  3. Yep checked checked and checked again.... also repeated process this morning. No channelling on cams, and the rocker shafts don't APPEAR or feel to be worn/ have play... Old BMW/ Merc mechanic friend of mine did say that they wear on the roker shaft, but I just cant believe that with this engine and those km's/ condition/FSH
  4. edit: 1985 318i M10 130Km's Did my valve clearances as per owners manual yesterday when stone cold, sounded sweet as afterwards, until car was properly warmed up when they got noisy (uniformly noisy nonetheless). This is the first car I have had 'tappet' complaints for, the other manually adjusted engines have all been M20. Why the big change between cold and hot, surely BMW would not have sold a premium car even in the 80's with this warm noise. Anyone have tricks of the trade? I know that noisy is better than fully quiet but the difference between cold and hot is silly. Maybe I just STFU and put up with it?
  5. keen for the M10 manual box, just gotta sort my move home etc first
  6. Looks like a baby with a full nappy. Haha still cool though.

Anyone have a set of these, or even just the fronts? Am after good condition, pref heavy duty loop pile ones (the ones that are hard to vacuum!) cheers
  9. Haha i just get told that i look grumpy most of the time so I figure it's a good describer
  10. We have a 70 inch plasma that is over a year old, got given it when it was made reduindant by LED... which for the record is horrible to watch 3D on with venitian blinds anywhere in view..... they flash and shimmer like a bitch! need black out curtains over them..... Our tv seems in fine shape with no burn in or such yet
  11. probably me.. few alpina bits and a grumpy looking driver?
  12. I often see a slightly lowered e39 540i in a sort of light calypso red with style 5's around herne bay area...... Anyones on here? I think it used to belong to a douche customer at JCBMW when i worked there, and whenever i had to pick it up for fixing it smelt like curry and the front bumper was always hanging by a thread
  13. Absolutely agree. I regularly travelhome to the Bay of Islands from auckland where i live, and i feel that people who exist almost exclusively in the city arent quite aware of what a lot of idiots are doing out on the open road. However my argument is redundant as the campaign was for hoons in the suburbs. Nonetheless there are so so many 35 year old pricks in fast european cars who drive like idiots on the Auckland- North roads who want shooting. I dont think they can be taught- they are intelligent people who make the stupid decision to break the limits regularly with reckless disregard for other road users.
  14. Can't judge when I couldnt hope to think of somthing as original. Nice work. HAH.
  15. Does the saab 9000 roof fit? or is that just for the e28
  16. Hate to (/love to) through the proverbial spanner- but e30 era UK cars did not have a vin number crossed out.... they were built in a workshop just like if you want accessories put on your new RAV 4, it goes to Thames when it comes off the ship.
  17. I don't sense a tu ad. Surely we all realise by now that BMW's nomenclature isnt at all specific and hence is inherently misleading. Yes, the car seems to be a regular m325- but it would take a flat out liar to misquote a plainly stamped engine number with the cryptic alpina letters in it. The engines didnt come with that badge on top all of the time, in fact more commonly on the Australian cars. The digi gauge is also in line with this. If Bavarian Msport australia managed to get alpina bits and engines in new cars, i'm sure this person could have as well. A friend of ours had a plain- jane Gwagen pulled off the line in the early 80's and fitted with AMG engine and no other extra spec which is unusual, but the people at BMW and Merc are only human- it IS possible to mix and match.
  18. I think you mean the Daimler Limousine which was based on the MKX/420g... they made them up until the late 80's much like the mercedes 600
  19. I love finding cars like that! I prefer rundown cars to mint ones. The 420G was'nt succeeded by anything, but like all jags at the time it shared the basic XK engine. The XJ6 replaced the MkII/340/S-type. We recently bought a fully restored original low mileage 250 V8 saloon which is proving quite fun!
  20. I love the interior... ext is to a particular taste i suppose.... They did lycoming gas turbines in such boats in the mid- 90's until the fuel became too expensive and big very fast boats became unfashionable.... i suppose there is still a lot of money out there that can aford it though
