I agree. "When in trademe, do as the trademe'ans." Not as ridiculous as the adverts with 45 degree angled, photoshopped night time shots of the front corner of the car posing beside a graffiti'd wall are. Of which many here are guilty.

Understand that 'Cosworth' is a colloquialism. People can use it as much as they like, and still agree that their car was sold and registered as a 190e 2.3 or 2.5 - 16. Understand that people are proud of their cars, and often the engine fettling- so are compelled to put a small cosworth badge on the rear. Mercedes couldnt give a flying'. Nonetheless you are right in suggesting a merc mechanic, they are the same as any other.

I have an E30 318i auto which I pamper.... but lately I have been doing weekly return trips Kerikeri- Auckland and find the heat is too much. Taking into account what I have already spent/ lavished on the car ("a little more wont hurt", "I love the car" etc), how much do you guys reckon fitting air con would help? OR am i just being a bitch about the current hugely muggy weather. Or cut my losses and sell someone a mint E30?
-
5K doubt it Harry!2nd hand dirtbike

Pity you are down there... I have a mint daimler 250 V8 in Kerikeri just back from a freshen up

My old 120i had runflats which we replaced with non- runflats and purchased from BMW a tyre pump/ liquid stuff kit in a nice little package. However after getting rid of the runflats the car felt like it floated around a bit more and never quite felt as sharp on the road...

Edit: that was just my opinion, this is a guys pride and joy i shouldnt have said that. As my mother always says, there is no accounting for taste.
-
For whatever it costed, i would prefer to get the most povo spec 308 GT4, or one of those awesome old 365/400i/412i's that have been hovering on trademe for a while
-
The 120i's key was a pain... never lies flat due to the 90degree agle that the ring passes through the hole at!

Thats real stink man, someone poisoned my fox terrier almost 3 years ago and ive never really gotten over it. Without you knowing it they go through a lot with you and its only when they are gone that you realise.

The way Icould tell with my S6 was the hydraulic fluid tank in the engine bay?

removed chrome drivers door trim ready to return car to painters to fix a sub standard clearcoat job on it from earlier in the year.....

I'd say dealers may WELL ask over- inflated prices for a 6 speed e39, but I dunno, maybe they are worth 16k ish? 'Worth' is a subjective term anyhow, so no one here is right or wrong. They are a car which is still depreciating. They tend to be kitted up in 'S5' guise, or the ones you see in auck do.

Sweet will be in contact in a short while... I'll have to sort it logisticaly too

Yep checked checked and checked again.... also repeated process this morning. No channelling on cams, and the rocker shafts don't APPEAR or feel to be worn/ have play... Old BMW/ Merc mechanic friend of mine did say that they wear on the roker shaft, but I just cant believe that with this engine and those km's/ condition/FSH

edit: 1985 318i M10 130Km's Did my valve clearances as per owners manual yesterday when stone cold, sounded sweet as afterwards, until car was properly warmed up when they got noisy (uniformly noisy nonetheless). This is the first car I have had 'tappet' complaints for, the other manually adjusted engines have all been M20. Why the big change between cold and hot, surely BMW would not have sold a premium car even in the 80's with this warm noise. Anyone have tricks of the trade? I know that noisy is better than fully quiet but the difference between cold and hot is silly. Maybe I just STFU and put up with it?

keen for the M10 manual box, just gotta sort my move home etc first

Looks like a baby with a full nappy. Haha still cool though.
