Everything you do usurps the plans I originally had (when i used to have time!) for my car..... snowplough, gold bbs rims, stripes..... maybe I should do jps.... I did after all just find 2 unworn 1983 JPS jackets in my mates closet haha

We don't hate Americans, in fact- it's really quite funny how many assume that we must; and thus use that introduction each time! Find yourself some 'euro' style bumpers (fenders?) dude!
-
Yeah subarus are a pretty sweet car.... decent spec ones, that is. Still havent found a car, at the mo its gonna have to be the 350Z, which isnt the best for the job!
-
i think the price is good, in saying that i paid 2k for a black tech2 4 door
-
This car looks pretty nice, but at that price? There seem to be a few realy good orig condition ones sometimes even 1 owner like an e30- for cheap. Nothing beats the 5cyl exhaust note- my 20V turbo would make any loose corrugated iron or skip bin within 10m around it vibrate when at idle!
-
no, you shouldnt have! that car was gross.... someone had gone nuts with the yucky yellow paint and decals.... id actually dare say that this could be the same car done- up again? new bumpers, wheels etc etc..... they never came yellow so to find with the same scheme..... i'm probably wrong though.

Hmm fair call, sounds like people really must have had the subaru problems that gives them a reputation.... damn! In that case i'd kill for a mercedes TE or the like
-
Stink man, although I hope you dont really mind that much- if we arent allowed them neither are you Theres an A8 driven by some Arab in the city with shamelessly ACTUAL european plates haha... dots, dashes, colours and all
-
Awesome thanks ill definitely keep that in mind- my last ski car was a '97 250t, admittedly it had just had cambelt and new heater core and a few things so gave me no trouble.....
-
Hey guys, am currently looking for a car to leave in the south island for the winter- Pref 1997+ legacy non turbo (unless you have a very reliable turbo) sub $5k, pref a 1997 250T in silver. OR a nissan terrano/pathfinder 3.2 diesel 1996+ sub $12k..... Know both these cars fairly well so no prob buying sight unseen, prefer if the car is already in the south island (Otago or Canterbury would be great!)

'Bet he's a big fat liar- feels ripped by someone getting the 'upper hand' on him with their low winning bid, so returns the blow by saying he 'gave it away'. He sounds like a winner!
-
Welcome chris! hah. S6 would be so much hotter...... Or a HiLex Nathan
-
Am seriously considering this instead of a legacy for a ski car to leave south!
-
I'd tell you if i could remember sorry, however it was in kerikeri and he was from Whangarei I think, and went around car yards in the north touching up their seats etc
-
i'd hope so it's overdue

Could be hydraulic lifters or chain tensioner- both require oil pressure not present in head after engine has been left overnight.... chain will make a serious 'clatter' like it is lashing about, lifters a more defined sharp hammer sound(loud tick)
-
Rattle mysteriously gone after removing and refitting the (new)tensioner yet again... Must have been crap in the oil continuously making its way into the tensioner one way valve? Hard to pinpoint one exact thing that i did to help it on its way, as i played and fiddled/cleaned so much!

I had a leather pro quote me 200 per seat to sand, fill and recolour my beige leather sports that were in similar/ maybe slightly better condition... they did have 1 or 2 almost rips as well.

That aftermarket aircon is interesting! In the 80s a friend of mine imported a whole lotta cheap bmws new from indonesia somewhere after a govt deal went bad and sold them to his mates- they were all fitted with no heaters and heavy duty air conditioners... i wonder if this was one?
-
Im probably the king critic of 'tack' even if i dont generally open my mouth about it on here, and even then i actually think that these are a cool idea even if a fad.... The shitty single garage door turned- classic glass panelled sliding door is really cool i reckon! And the jet across 3 doors would be amazing for something like public storage or a commercial building
-
ar eyou meaning the vantage twin supercharged, that blue one? thats amazing... car in pic is a virage
-
New piston and no huge chgange, new oil again and a little better, still rattly. Next thing to check/ replace is rockers and rocker shafts.... apparently the m10 and m20 were bad for shaft/rocker wear.

Something very general and somewhat appropriate to remember is that all polymers/ alloys want to return to their natural component state, and cannot be stopped/ cured/ reversed with 'snake oil'. Nothing can be literally 'added to the mix' without actually chemically re- engineering the polymer. This however may be a very very long and incremental process, which i suppose can be masked sufficiently with certain products for the life of the vehicle while it is still in your hands.

Im not convinced that ANYTHING is 'good' for the old vinyl, apart from keeping it out of the heayt and UV. My 1985 318 was a very low km 1 owner when i got it, which fantastic un-retouched paint, but the dash was the worst I have ever seen..... Made me think that batch quality control in the vinyl wasnt too fab, or something along those lines.... ie. if it is still good it may well stay good.
