  1. i'd hope so it's overdue
  2. Could be hydraulic lifters or chain tensioner- both require oil pressure not present in head after engine has been left overnight.... chain will make a serious 'clatter' like it is lashing about, lifters a more defined sharp hammer sound(loud tick)
  3. Rattle mysteriously gone after removing and refitting the (new)tensioner yet again... Must have been crap in the oil continuously making its way into the tensioner one way valve? Hard to pinpoint one exact thing that i did to help it on its way, as i played and fiddled/cleaned so much!
  4. I had a leather pro quote me 200 per seat to sand, fill and recolour my beige leather sports that were in similar/ maybe slightly better condition... they did have 1 or 2 almost rips as well.
  5. That aftermarket aircon is interesting! In the 80s a friend of mine imported a whole lotta cheap bmws new from indonesia somewhere after a govt deal went bad and sold them to his mates- they were all fitted with no heaters and heavy duty air conditioners... i wonder if this was one?
  6. Im probably the king critic of 'tack' even if i dont generally open my mouth about it on here, and even then i actually think that these are a cool idea even if a fad.... The shitty single garage door turned- classic glass panelled sliding door is really cool i reckon! And the jet across 3 doors would be amazing for something like public storage or a commercial building
  7. ar eyou meaning the vantage twin supercharged, that blue one? thats amazing... car in pic is a virage
  8. New piston and no huge chgange, new oil again and a little better, still rattly. Next thing to check/ replace is rockers and rocker shafts.... apparently the m10 and m20 were bad for shaft/rocker wear.
  9. Something very general and somewhat appropriate to remember is that all polymers/ alloys want to return to their natural component state, and cannot be stopped/ cured/ reversed with 'snake oil'. Nothing can be literally 'added to the mix' without actually chemically re- engineering the polymer. This however may be a very very long and incremental process, which i suppose can be masked sufficiently with certain products for the life of the vehicle while it is still in your hands.
  10. Im not convinced that ANYTHING is 'good' for the old vinyl, apart from keeping it out of the heayt and UV. My 1985 318 was a very low km 1 owner when i got it, which fantastic un-retouched paint, but the dash was the worst I have ever seen..... Made me think that batch quality control in the vinyl wasnt too fab, or something along those lines.... ie. if it is still good it may well stay good.
  11. too small for what you egg? they clearly state e21- would look cool on a resto'd example
  12. hey yeah i saw a JTS 159 sedan in silver today with those wheels and kit and thought it was pretty sweet! I really like the 159 shape
  13. Awesome car, amazing that your parents let you buy it! fully sexual car. Well done for being honest about it man- trust me you arent alone with those car issues- most people are just too proud to admit their cars' probs!
  14. I know where you are coming from- I paid 8 dollars for 1 hour at princes wharf because the viaduct was shut, then got to my car 11 min late and had a $60 fine, or should I say invoice. I do not think that this is 'just' at all, perhaps 25 dollars max should do it. Public meters fine 12 dollars. No they cannot FINE you, but they can invoice and collect on non- payment of that invoice. We enter a contract by parking in their god forsaken parks.
  15. From a diagnostic point of view, this shows that the TPS is indeed the, ore one of the things causing your car to bad idle. It's an easy thing to adjust. Perhaps first remove it and test it with a multimeter so you dont have to split it apart(instructions all over the net i think). If it tests ok, with it mounted but loose adjust the throttle butterfly to a nice idle. Then tighten the TPS screws so that it is at its lowest point. You should hear a TINY click immediately when you move the throttle butterfly open. If it doesnt test OK use the other one, or perhaps open it up, clean it up, and re- glue it back together. The TPS is just one part of the idle circuit though, so it may be functioning correctly and triggering some other faulty part? Idle problems on my Alpina turned out to be a fried connection in the ECU(common apparently) which I had fixed by a TV repairman, and a shagged coolant temp sensor both at the same time- making it very hard to diagnose.
  16. They paint it properly, with proper finish... you would be surprised how many cars' black plastic trim is painted black from new.
  17. R r r r repaint.... Often black 'plastic' trim is painted plastic anyway. I had the black bumper plastic all repainted on a merc I had and it was like new.
  18. Yeah it lives down that road that comes up from the west end of taka beach..... not clifton, the other one. I think. have seen it a few times on my run
  19. I'd have to agree surprisingly untidy...... I want an E23 suddenly.... on style5s
  20. Coolest rims on an e65 are schnitzer ones i reckon
  21. That's Will! and it is a sexual car.
