Hideous vinyl

Probably not much deterioration at all, contrary to what many people would say. Just a decent check over and freshen up I reckon.

Nice! When I was at school a mate's mum had identical colour, with the plate GT 03. It was pretty sick for a northland car!

Beaut. The e36's square angles on the raked body form will make for a modern classic in colour/engine combos as yours

Shipping offices push ships to take chances, the captain is put under a lot of pressure.

No more gutless than a BMW, just different. In fact pretty bloody awkward really but it's just how they feel, not the actual power. There's that huge amount of slack travel in the accelerator pedal and also the auto starts off in 2nd gear.

Wow! I will definitely get this place to do my seats

That was just along the beach from me, very nice colour!

Who cares about the vin? It's clearly a B5. Beaut colour too.

Off- topic section due to marine application, A boat I am restoring has a short length of driveshaft automotive style with a UJ at each end. Flange to flange would be about 750mm with one end to a flange on a Velvet Drive output and the other to a flange on an inch diam shaft. On the aft UJ where the 2 flanges couple, it has corroded badly removing about 10mm of steel from the radius in one area. The while shaft has surface rust which I was going to have stripped before I found the damage. What is the most cost- effective process of me ending up with a good unit? Should I get someone like ADL to make me up a whole new shaft with UJs? or do I pillage a driveshaft from a car and get it shortened someone that does this? Help appreciated. I'm in Auckland. Cheers

316i's are now desirable due to them not having suffered a life of thrashing or neglect, until now. I've had 2 316i 2 doors both 1 owner and both in near new condition, but when I wanted bigger better I sold them on and bought bigger better as- is.

e39 steering rack and other repairs - is this reasonable?

Rack could be about right, my Audi got a new one for a couple of grand -
An update here too, turns out a switch in the radiator/cooling system musn't be working as it is turning the aux elec fan to 'full load' as soon as air con is turned on. Air con is just meant to put the fan at speed 1, not full current draw! Hence loading the alternator right up and thus loading engine.

Boring update, I have adapted an old (old doesn't mean cheap with marine parts sadly ) Perkins 4108 50hp bellhousing with Borg Warner adapter plate for the velvet drive. Luckily these are roughly SAE so have standardised diameters and concentric input/output. The sump which was also fried is being remade in steel then galvanised for extra protection before painting on the outside. Costing an arm and a leg, and disappointingly taking a very long time too.

What doing with the old wheels?

My first car 20something cars ago was a white 316i coupe, probably the best car I have owned too. My current manual 320i project E30 I swear has less guts and is less drivable than the 316i was.
