  1. As pictured, I'm after the plastic top cowl from an E36 M3. cheers nath
  2. Long ish press release but interesting read, sometimes need to read between the lines (I get the feeling Alpina dont like electric). Alpina sold to BMW Group
  3. Ah, so the steering wheel wants refinishing and the stickers removing, doesn't look tired? Appears same condition or better than the Dakar and Fiji equivalents which have been selling high. Has the side airbag non-delaminating door card inserts too.
  4. Last night on a motorway detour up Onewa Rd, saw a nice red Mtech2 E30 followed by what sounded like a fire-breathing e36 coupe.. although there was some rice around too so the sound may not have been bmw.
  5. Nice Technoviolet E36 M3 with non-original wing and wheels in Onehunga yesterday
  6. It 'would' be, but that's not really the case. E30 purchases and other such value increases of low level cars are driven purely by the NZ real estate market and interest rates. Watch sales slow as NZX shares continue their downward trend and mortgage rates continue to rise. Not to say that prices will drop, but sales volumes do slow. At a stretch you could say that houses/mortgage rates have introduced a new 'investor' to the car market.
  7. Should have added- all 1989, 635 photo is at Herne Bay
  8. Few pics from Kura of BMWs in the '80s
  9. Ahah yes! Took her out on a sunny evening for a walk to mission bay for a burger
  10. Yeah probably just in case someone is desperate for this colour and spec etc, otherwise must be happy to keep it. Despite it likely being a great car, the incongruous bunch of photos don't do credibility any favours.
  11. I learned similar peculiarities about the E4 engine in my B3. 1998, single vanos iron block 3.2 sharing very little with the M50 and nothing intake or exhaust with the Mxx engines. God help me if I need a head gasket.
  12. Nah different generations despite the overlap. Compare r109 sl
  13. The reason I posted it here and FB E30 group is so that I COULDNT have it because it would be snapped up fast. A house beginning renovations, a vintage launch which exists as a maintenance piece, and two garage queens is abooout all I can handle mentally
  14. Whole car less engine and trans- 7500
  15. I purchased black Colourlock leather fresh toner/dye for the steering wheel and a small patch on side bolster, and although it 'dried', it never worked and rubbed off with contact or moisture. It had been properly prepped, and so forth.
  16. Sedan is a translation of saloon, see two doors.
  17. Engine-less nz new M325i Looks good for someone with time
  18. Spot an estoril e36 m3 parked in Milford every day on my runs.. BZKxxx
  19. Moved Red car outside to put dinghy in it's place while I finish off the underside. First time the car has seen rain in a long time. Fitted 4 new door handle gaskets to red car; I'm really not sure there is anything else to replace/tidy up on her!
  20. I agree- man there is some sh*t out there gaining faux credibility and causing anything not banged up to be called 'clean'. Same can be said for E30s. These are awesome. Despite not being marketed the same way, they actually did come into NZ in 328i form too; as ZA Motorsport individual models; identifiable by the seat stripes.
  21. The modifications are to enable the steering wheel shift buttons and for it to hold those gears, also there is no sport mode, just normal or switch-tronic. The box shifts faster than the normal auto. Take a moment to come out of it- well just that- it can hold the engine braked low gear for too long when it is no longer required, when I would expect it to change up into a cruise gear.
  22. At higher speeds, there's a distinct feeling between tq locked and unlocked, that is the feeling. I'm noise/vibration phobic... sometimes for fun I stand on the floor area of my boat above the driveshaft just to see if it feels like there is a new resonance in the bearings which may not have been there before..
  23. Hi guys I have an Alpina-modified (switch-tronic) 5hp19 auto in my E36, and a standard, adaptive 4hp-18FLA(quattro) in my Audi urS6. Both cars are in near perfect condition. From a standstill if you plant your foot, the Alpina will rocket away- chopping through the gears very quickly and with no fuss. She also changes just fine with no flare etc when cruising. Occasionally coming down a hill she will hold a lower gear and take a moment to come out of it, which to 'me' is noticeable. Also the torque converter seems to decide when it does and does not want to lock up depending on your compass bearing to Mecca. The engine does not over-rev as if the trans is slipping. The Audi on the other hand will happily lock the torque converter at reasonable motorway speeds in the top gears, and stay locked such that she feels far less 'slushy' and more connected than the BMW. Obviously they are programmed differently, but would I be right in considering a full transmission service on the BMW? Both cars have done 140,000km and have had fluid changes in the past. I would prefer a firmer feeling at motorway speeds in the BMW.
