This manifold is designed for twin vanos engines, you would need to mod a lot to fit and maybe lose power.
-
Yes, for sure. Manifold matches head ports as it should. The throttle body adapter for 60$ and m54 m30 manifold $150 makes this swap very attractive. Remap is recommended and headers. I have both so here we come!
-
Hi Ron, check my vanos seal replacment post from last week. Gained a load of torque and a few ponies. Will need to adjust AFR so will run it up for sure.
-
Some old school stuff! Jack car as high as possible from rear and start bleeding from LH rear then RHR, LF/RF. Very small amounts of air can create sponge.
-
Talk about strangled- M52tu twin vanos E46 320, 325, 328 all share same inlet manifold and throttle body, 37mm runner diameter. Hence poor top end power. Lastest mod in US is to fit M54 manifold [50mm runner dia] with adapter from Turners to allow cable throttle body to fit to manifold. Torque is retained with top end gains of 10- 15 RWKW. Will be doing this modd myself in two weeks.

As Brent says, most US units are LHD. Most will contact steering shaft or rack.

E36 328i supercharger install
smiddy replied to BM WORLD's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
Thats strong Brent. 6-7 lb boost would be good. Must drive nice? -
Yeah, farmer friend of mine had a drive yesterday, said engine should be in his tractor.
-
Did twin vanos seal replacement on my E46 328. Gained loads of Low end torque and about 6hp. Super smooth power delivery. 20ft pound gain in low end from seal replacment alone. No more cold idle jolts. scan80001.bmp

E30 1989 FL sedan front guards and rear doors, burgandy if poss.
-
Sorry guys, 1st set to produce would cost way beyond recoupe of units sold. Ie [not viable].
-
Prof build, to fit E34/28 and maybe 635 with 3.5 big six engine. 304 grade mandrel bends. Come with gaskets, bolts. $695.00 delivered in NZ to Bimmers.
-
Think I still have a couple sets of long headers for E39s.
-
I have some short units that should fit. You can try before you buy.
-
Friend of mine did his at 90k, said oil was very dark and looked dirty. Also stated gear changes became silky smooth.
-
No, timing is not altered by removing or refitting vanos unit.
-
Last Two sets. Complete with gaskets, flanges. SS304 excell value at $400 to bimmers.

What does one have to do to make a e38 sound like a proper v8
smiddy replied to toeknee's topic in Performance
351Cleveland eng was the worst sounding without balance pipe. Lumpy would be cams/ lift and duration. If you heard engine under drive load after 3000rpm you would beg to differ. Have worked on many. -

Have owned a few small block Chevs in my time. They will sound like crap also unless a balance tube is fitted, normally just post of transmission. If your eng is well ie : compression and valves etc then remapping can sharpen exhaust note dramatically. -
Will be the much talked about BMW hole. 3500/4000 rev range M54/52 TU suffered from lag in crossover in disa valve intake runner change at these RPM. Really bad in hot weather. Remapp will eliminate. Did for me. Exhaust is real choker of BMW's, imports really suffer.
-
How sad! Lowish Ks M3, chipped,. mint sold on here last week for 15k.
-
Me too! Direct to butterfly, drives like it also. No mush. BMW in the last versions of the M52TU in 2000 released the TU eng with M54 3.0 intake with larger MAF and F.B.Y throttle. Heard it was quicker than 330i.
-
Real OEM shows my car throttle set up as diagram. M54 E46 has no cable. I have read that cable runs to T/B and butterfly is operated by electric drive motor.
-
Doesn't sound right! My 328 is very responsive. Would sggest a scan, may have sensor, or maf fault. If high Ks maybe cats blocked. Remapp is the best thing I have done to mine.

Anything wrong with M3 E46 factory camber settings?
