Yes Tony, but M54 motor cops this problem too especially ZHP. Not well documented on this forum but huge in US. Real pain when in mid warm up, Besian systems write up is a read for all twin vanos owners. Good chance their vanos unit is not functioning correctly.
-
Mate, never wide open when cold! Pressure drop from full throttle cold is fooling ecu. If all is well when warm..... all is good.
-
M52 TU/54 twin vanos engines suffered from cold start jolting badly during warm up. Not really a scanable problem. Hard to detect in warm conditions but very bad in winter. Changed my vanos seals and all surges gone, very smooth.

Sadly, only real place to save value [mmm] is a race car museum. Really just a 20k well prepped car thats had a few down under pedlers in it! Whats it worth in Europe?
-
Couple of later model 3.2 six speeds on TM also with lower Ks.
-
Sad loss, but hey just a car! One more meter back into door and you would be quite sick. Sure will be parts only, bent both sides. Your here for Christmas mate.
-
Looks mean must say! 3 series running gear will be the weight.
-
James, gasket and shield are as one. You won't fit the shields on with M3 headers.

Hi Brad, sorry just noticed your post. My exhaust is very different to yours, as you will see in these pics mine merges in 2-1 collector. You should look for a complete M54 325- 330 NZ exhaust as this should be twin all thru. If you have no post cat sensors you should be able to remove cats.

Phew! Better in there than the windscreen.

Good on ya Glenn. Birthday for me is 'polish' time and im not talking cars!

Went on fishing trip out from Monganui Thursday saw 3 cop cars. Came back yesterday arvo counted 21 patrol cars 8 camera vans and a bike cop with tri-pod. Averaged 12.8kms/Ltr on way up with a few kickings.

Would be kind Tristan to call the OEM manifold average. Not sure on 530 spec but have seen them with under hood manifold cat combos. To fit these if you have cats on manifolds would require sensor relocation, cat relacement. Around 12hp gain and mid range torque over stock.

Thanks Glenn, nice to feel special! Jacko, PM me you are welcome to trial a set. Sure others are keen to know.

To fit M50/52/54 E39s with mid mount cats, similar to supersprint incl gaskets and flanges. $500 delivered in NZ.
-
Should have posted with previous. OEM unit with shorty header.Note carbon ring on OEM, this is exhaust port diameter not matching manifold plate profile.
-
BMW 2-1 exhaust. Serious restriction just past cat sensors, hence cat backs are popular for bimmers. Chopped out offending area and replaced with 2.5 inch tubes into 3in merge.
-
Ray at Hellbm maybe able to help with an M54 325 exhaust system. Will bolt straight up and is twin right through.
-
If you have imported car exhaust will be 2 into 1 post cats. I modded mine post cat made big differance to mid and upper range. Your car will likely have oxy sensors behind cats, if so removing cats to replace with mufflers is a no no as this will confuse ecu and car will run lean.

Welcome, nice ride. BBS for me also. Any dyno figures, seems a bit high for headers and intake 36hp.
-
Serious close ratios in that gearbox, be lucky to drop 300 between changes.
-
Poor Bugger! Owner states in Sun Herald. 'Not insured'.

Ring Gavin Bellars of Hi Velocity on the shore. He has live tuned quite a few 540's. I believe there are good gains to be made.

Have a copy of the vid some where, shame as he goes around again even harder and there are helicopter shots etc, really gets sideways and rear smoke plus speedo shot down staight over 300kms.
