Its not that they are bad, far from it, its more that I had remembered them to be a lot more awesome when I was a kid. Spoilt the memory for me. Some things are best left in the archives. Compared to the E30 M3 or even the M325i the E36 M3 is bloody sedate.

Also used to have a crush on Ginger Spice and listen to Boys to Men..

I remember when the E36 came out, mum had a since new E30 and I hatted the E36, BMW had sold out in my 11 year old eyes... l Liked the E36 M3 when it came out in 94 in all its Dacar Hero Colour glory, went for a test drive in it with my old man, was a dream car... drove a few years later and fell out of love.. Should never spoil a childhood memory, it was like going back to rainbows end (theme park) as an adult. I thought my dads brand new at the time Toyota Corona GLX with leather was awesome.. these days. Hmmm. Also thought my mums PT cruiser was cool when they came out, it got more attention than a Ferrari. Cant stand them now. The Dodge Viper was like taking two E's and watching your favorite band to me as a 12 year old, these days... well they are still kick arse dont they! I used to love anything JDM in the early 00's but now I cant stand jap crap. um hate to admit it but BMW's, I had been a fan boy since the day I first set eyes on a mums new E30, loved all BMW's regardless, they could do no wrong in my opinion all my life but they just disappoint me now-days, my wife's E46 is the biggest POS I have driven in a long time, I only get excited about latest M3 and the original cool E30's now

With all do respect, when you organise something you are normally left with the clean up. Thats the way it is. You did get the much deserved recognition and respect for doing do, we are all grateful. If you would like a hand organizing/running the next event I am more than happy to help out, if you clearly delegate what needs to be done in a positive way it normally happens. Was a pleasure to help where I could Brian and I have some great idea’s for next year.

RB7 Renault. 2011 championship winning car? Red Bull Racing launched its 2011 challenger - the RB7 - at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit near Valencia, Spain. The car, which the team hopes will successfully defend its two Formula One titles, was unveiled in the pit lane at 0830hrs by 2010 World Champion Sebastian Vettel and his team- mate Mark Webber. This was followed by a press conference in the Team's Energy Station with the two drivers, team principal Christian Horner and chief technical officer Adrian Newey. The RB7 completed its first lap of the circuit when testing began at 1000hrs. It's just 11 weeks since Sebastian Vettel drove to victory in Abu Dhabi and less than six weeks before the car will contest the Bahrain Grand Prix. This morning was the culmination of months of hard work in Milton Keynes, where every department has been focused on increasing the silverware in the Red Bull Racing trophy cabinets. Christian Horner commented: " It's a great feeling to arrive here and roll out the car with the number one on it as the reigning World Champions, but now the challenge is to keep it. The team's been very focused on RB7 over the last few months; Adrian didn't release his drawings any earlier than normal, so the whole design group and production team have done a remarkable job to produce this car in the shortest possible time. It's a long season, the longest in F1 history, and we have some great opponents, but we are very motivated and will be working hard to hold on to the two world titles. I'm sure it's going to be a fascinating battle." Adrian Newey said: "It's always a special moment when a car runs for the first time. The big challenge for us this year was the reintroduction of the KERS system. It's always a challenge to find solutions, which don't compromise the aerodynamics of the car. This season, with McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes all having KERS, we need to get it to work, simply for performance off the line." On the day it launched its all-new RB7, Red Bull Racing is pleased to welcome several new partners for 2011, as well as reconfirming continuing and enhanced agreements with many of its existing partners. Red Bull Racing's Partner portfolio now includes: Total, Rauch, Pepe Jeans, Casio, Singha Beer, FXDD, Geox, Pirelli, Alpinestars, Platform Computing and Siemens. Company press release, last updated on February 03, 2011

You wouldn’t be envious if you had my credit card bill! Just quietly but they are closing parts of the pacific highway from Coromandel town to Whitianga for us. Would love to drive the closed road from Whitianga to Tairua, figures crossed. You’re a legend Jono! I will be around Penrose at 2pm, could call in if that suits.

If its a M325i I will do it for free next week. Skids on. Jokes.
-
Agree. The race springs are good, slightly stiff on the really ruff stuff like gravel but I loved mine. Off the shelf coil overs are quite useless in NZ.
-
Lol. Was going to say I would buy it if it wasn't for racing commitments!

Next meet then. Im doing the March one, Bambina. Dunlop don't even sponsor it now and yet the $500 still applies. Oh well. If you can get me a set of 50% worn Dunlops it should be OK for Targa Bambina.
-
Thanks Jono. Just spoke with Targa and the penalty for running non Dunlop’s id $500 paid to Targa not Dunlop? Figure that one out. Looks like I will have to run Dunlop as over two events that’s $1000 in penalties and counteracts the savings. Have been told to run with the R compound over the H as the H is too hard to be of benefit apparently.
-
Cheers. 60 would be too high and believe it or not with only 40% tread the R888's would not last two days of Targa. R888's just get minced on NZ's course chip.
-
Need to buy. 235/40/R18 Dunlop Semi Slicks. Used is fine just need them for Three days of Targa. With the build cost of the car I can’t quite bite the bullet and shell out for new just yet. If anyone knows of new at a good rate that would be great, want the H1 compound. Cheers Graham

If you’re doing honeymoon stuff for two weeks I can recommend Thailand, they sell Viagra next to the Beer at the chemist. Have a nice time, all the best.

Only way to get the job done properly is to do it yourself. The hardest part is the polishing if you don't have a machine, the rest is easy. We are more than happy to give pointers and there are plenty of what to do threads on here. Give me $200 and I will send you all the Mothers stuff you need to give your car a brilliant shine. Clay bar Kit Polish/Glaze Wax Protectant Car-wash Drying towel 2x Wax on wax off packs. Extra’s you will need to buy. Meguiars hand polishing pads. $10? Window Cleaner for the wheels and windows $5.00 5-Pac of Microfiber cloths from Godfries. $5.00 done.

Wheelfixit are quite good in the sense they can turn it around straight away, arrow could take a while. They did my E46 wheels and they look great, wish I had have had all four repainted now!

Thanks. Will have a look at the tension. Any how too's on converting the stacker to a AUX I-pod lead? No its NZ new so doesn’t have electric folding. Do they just push up or in? They are quite staunch in place, hard to move.
-
E46 questions. NZ 99 328ci specifically. Throttle/transmission response, is there a known way to wake these up? It’s a 5-speed auto which doesn’t help. Do they have a sports mode or anything? Its half asleep all the time and quite slow unless you floor it everywhere. Fuel consumption. Are they meant to be this thirsty for the performance or lack thereof. We are averaging 10.5. Wondering if a computer remap would help with these? I-Pod connection. Does the Business deck have a AUX other than the stacker, I would rather have both and keep the car OEM if possible. How do you fold the mirrors? Thanks.
-
Legendary eh. I remember that CRX from back in the day, good to see its still mint, did you build it?? BMW is nice, must be a good drive with a manual, trust me, the auto's are crap even when they are joined to bigger engines.

Was more to do with what was happening up front and little to do with Shumacher according to the article. Lets hope for another exciting season. I hope to see some coverage of testing.

Renault weren’t a second tier team but I know what you mean, they did have some bad luck and given Renault had a better number 2 driver they would have easily beaten Mercedes. Kubica coming 8th out of 27 last season in the slower Renault was no mean feat, he easily bet driver in much better cars and qualified on par with all bar RBR. I would like to see Kubica have a better year too.
