Moving house and I having trouble getting up the steep driveway
Apex replied to Tristan's topic in General Discussion
If its a rental, address the landlord and say you need some wet and forget for the driveway as its dangerous. Either that or trade your car on a AWD. This would get up with ease.... and is a nice car http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-313884922.htm -
Eat Asian. Catch a Train. Pay heaps for Parking. Um, actually, just go the Mexican Café and eat sh*t loads of Margaritas.

Holding it for 10 seconds turns kills the traction control completely and pulling the hand brake up a few clicks is a lazy way of locking the rear end. With a bit of throttle modulation you should get it up the hill, if not you will have fun trying.. For some reason BMW’s don’t completely deactivate the driving aids when you hit the ASC button, was ritual when I had them to press and hold that button before any outing. -
It was Tim’s old car, not an active member, he cherished it and the owner after him is a professional car detailer, it’s still in apparently as new condition. Tempting but IMHO these cars are still quite expensive for the performace they have.

Yea open fail diff BMW sucks. In my E60 I used to switch ASC off completely (Hold button for 10 seconds) and then pull the hand brake up a few clicks. It should have a snow mode. -
Na they made or assembled cars here up until the late 90’s early 00’s AFAIK, can’t remember,
-
No I mean like the Cordia. It was made in NZ. Never mind

Some JDM cars were 4WD, they are rarer than hen’s teeth though, have only ever seen one in my life and it was on stilts. I would say there would be a few mint NZ Turbo’s around just as there are a few mint NZ Corolla GT’s hiding in sheds, I think they are an important part of NZ motoring history and will bare themselves in years to come… will be telling our kids that they actually used to make cars in NZ and the probably won’t believe us.

Fair enough, that 130i has me thinking, it really is a very well looked after little car and the Genuine BMW Performance parts added are top notch. I would need to add some stiffer springs and a Quaife LSD to make it sporty though so would have to add 5k to that price.. hmmmm. Z4 wheels would end up at Jono's also

Im guessing this is out of your budget but it was owned by a friend of mine and a old member on here and goes vet nicely, he had outfitted it with BMW Performance intake, Exhaust and quick shifter and polished it every other weekend, stunning car. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-315391011.htm

I think rust got most of them, they were rusty as 10 years ago!

Lol my Dad had one of those brand new, was mean, said TURBO all the way down the side and was at the time the fastest NZ production vehicle. Good luck

He sounds like an angry driver, as an angry driver I can translate what he did, you were in front of him, this would have made him angry to start with as he is king of the road and should have clearly been leading, then you decided you would set your cruise control, this is another mistake as it maintains a constant speed, nothing is more annoying than travelling at a constant speed, we constantly need to be speeding up and slowing down, whist focusing all energy on hating you he completely missed his turn and had to turn back, either way he got where he was going faster than anyone else and won the race, he will be with his mates wanking on about BMW drivers as we speak. Either that or he has just last week stepped off a plane and was given a licence and a Toyota Celio and has still not adjusted to driving in NZ. He will be driving a Taxi next week.

Yea it’s technically not a wax it’s a synthetic glaze, and is designed to lock in and emphasise what is going on underneath, it won’t correct or bring anything back from the dead, luckily Brians car has a very nice well looked after paint job so it will look good. Was perving at your car on the weekend Kerry and it looks great, quick detailers are good but I recon the best in-between product is Mothers Reflections Range Quick Wax, it’s a proper liquefied sprayable wax and is lush to work with, keeps hard core beading for yonks.
-
Next generation spray? The ultimate detailer is better IMHO, the black bottle with the holographic label. If your using Meguires that is Nice to hear some feedback Brian, it’s not a bad wax, would be interested to hear how you find it over time, I currently use a sealer and glaze and then a carnauba wax over the top for shine but find the natural carnauba type waxes lack longevity and are sensitive to chemicals used in car wash and window light sprayers meaning I have to apply a new coat every few weeks. Would like to find a product that will give four weeks of protection. Can’t wait for summer, maintenance through winter is a killer

They have got to be French.. so ugly and weird they are cool. Would love to throw them on an old Citroen!
-
And It’s what lies underneath that’s expensive to replace! So it’s coming with the factory 15†BBS cross spokes then? Also, I installed a hidden camera in your car before you took me on that “Sunday drive†hot lap.
-
Who, the f**king stig? Seriously tempted James, I miss mine so much and this car is in great mechanical condition, most are just shiny and a loose cannon underneath. I get paid on the 10th so if it’s still around we may have to catch up for a beer.

Oh yea, sorry, don’t try this at home kids! Russian whoopee cushion. They always have to outdo the yanks.
