my fuel gauge isn't working now , apparently if i put fuel in with key turned computer will lock or something like that should i disconnect battery ? what fuse number to check?

as per title fronts are just the lenses i can try find the housings if you want , sides are fine after 70 , or will swap for e30 /e36 rear low springs ,not super lows though 0211486396
