You can buy stock leather rear seats?...And vinyl door cards, could always have them re-upholstered if you wanted. Any upholstery place should be capable...

I'd rent until you get to know Auckland. You'll stay in a much nicer house in the mean-time. + You could be hunting for a long time if you want to buy. My GF's parent sold over 8 months ago and have been renting while they look for a new place, wealthy oversea's buyers snatch up anything decent, it was happening when I bought over a year ago and its a lot worse now. 600k won't buy you anything decent in central auckland anymore. You'll need at least 800k to find a decent free-standing home around Ellerslie/Greenlane.

So tonight I looked under a proper illuminated magnifying glass at the repair job I cleaned up the flux mess and found the wire second from the left broken, not sure if the flux was holding it in place or if I snapped it but I've resoldered it and sealed her up. Will report back tomorrow if this has sorted anything out. Otherwise I'll be heading over to Ray for a replacement.

I just brought a bunch of gaskets, seals and filters blah blah from Pelican parts in the states, took less than a week to get here. You'd struggle to find much cheaper.

I chose the 530i for my daily. If I was buying a 540i I'd want a manual trans ps: I read tonnes E39 buyers guides and forum discussions before getting mine, 530i was the "pick of the bunch" majority of the time.

I actually had to dremel off what id say was the original sealant. So unless you can strip out the guts from the opposite side I wouldn't know how someone else has got it there.

Had the car scanned again today:

Recently my ABS/DSC and periodically trans light (goes into limp mode) turned on, I got a friend to check it out with his diagnostics software, I accidentally cleared the error history instead of reading it the first time round though -__- I was hoping for a wheel speed sensor or something easily fixable/replaced to be the cause but all looked normal after running the car around a while...besides the dash lights. The ABS Module is a common problem in E39's, so I decided to pull it out and have a look. Does this look normal? The goo appears to have either never been there or burnt away... Wires are all still attached

How long are you there for? I'd be looking for some genuine wheels if I was you

I run 16x8 +7 and 16x9 +7 My second set of wheels is 16x9 +20 7" wide and about +20 is factory if I remember right? Wheel height only really comes into it if you have big brakes

Yea meant to be "lifetime" fluid...I've heard some people say do it and other say don't, I dunno Yep have checked rocker gasket - no leaks.

So I have no actual receipts of previous work done to my E39, aparently all maintenance was up to date though and everything seems fine but better safe than sorry so I'll drop a full maintenance bomb on the car as I don't intend on parting with it anytime soon: this is what Im thinking I should be doing + some "possibles"...cars nearly at 200k: All filters All fluids (minus trans maybe?) Sparks plugs Rad hoses, water pump, temp sensors, thermostat+housing and all associated gaskets. Fan clutch/switch (will the rolled up paper trick work on the clutch, seems ok and at US$100 ea I don't want to replace it if it's not needed...) I need a new power steering reservoir o-ring Sway bar bushes/drop links need doing too Vanos seals maybe? Pelican doesn't appear to sell seals anymore so where from? Feel free to add or suggest anything I may have missed. Chur
