I'd be keen depending on if the council lets me shave my driveway.
-
Hmm, I'd be interested to know...I was looking for a metal grate that can be locked down for my driveway so it doesn't block the gutter.

pfffffffffffffffft. Mattzy would rather spend his money on stickers edit: which reminds me, I have some ground control stickers you can have. USDM y0.

Brugar Engineering. Barry's point Road Takapuna. Reasonable prices, very high quality of workmanship. I've sent a set of wheels there (just to get a different centrebore), but have seen the before/after with a few sets of my friends mags (I get courier boy duties because of the xtrail ). Rodney's work is top notch. He does a lot of high end stuff too, last time I was there he was doing some magnesium wheels off a Lotus Espirit Turbo. Don't be put off by the rather derelict exterior of the workshop

And who gets to dictate the rules within this community? Without a higher executive democratic rule will be difficult. Have a look at athens, "direct democracy" ended up being who could shout the loudest. Or maybe you could run an oligarchy with a select few dictating the terms to the rest of the community? But without higher authority and legitimisation that a state provides you might have to resort to guns/violence to a) keep order keep people out c) keep people in d) make people do their share. The alternative to guns/violence is psychological and ethical training which takes time. Or perhaps I'm too Weberian to accept that humans can all think the same thing and do the same thing - live co-operatively and peacefully without a form of executive governance.

I am. I expected some kinda baller quick steer rack when I read "mtech steering". Although I should know better, E30's like to pretend to be buses.
-
Orrrrsum. We should go for a rangi/sacked/low offset E30 photoshoot sometime. (My wheels no longer suffer from sunken battleship syndrome)

I was under the impression that's what Tama Iti and the Tuhoi crowd tried/is trying to do.

Very cool bit of advertising! Lol @ FHM version. Probably won't be allowed because of "objectifying women". Bra burners would get all worked up.

I own a Dell, quite happy with it. They are very good value for money. But be aware that the build quality is no where as close to the likes of "prestige" companies like IBM. As mentioned above, wait for Dell specials as I got a whole lot of kit for free with my laptop as well as $400 discount. So very very good value for money, timely delivery and if there is a deal, often shipping is free.

I use Znoelli S12's Click Here Not sure what RRP is though. Find a friend who can get cost price- $190 + gst for front pair. No problems on track, but I brake like a wuss. Good for 600deg, TTG tells me I only got them to 430deg+ at Taupo. For daily driver duties (and probably track days) these would probably be less effective than OEM. But these are cheaper than OEM and I'm a ricer. I like TTG, is pretty coloured.

And one just sold for $100 on trademe. He is dreaming.....imho

NZ is too PC and to quote CamB too softcock to have an executive system strong enough to properly persecute/terrorize the population into behaviour despite poor conditions (more cops to stop poor people stealing to eat). It is also too far into the country's history to pull a take over. Singapore managed to eliminate ALL major gangs overnight in mid 1960's because it passed a potent version of the Patriot's Act allowing government to deem what it wanted as criminal congregation ie gangs and throw everyone in jail/public whippings, etc. If the government passed something like that here, there would be revolt, and everyone will complain that the government has too much power, etc, etc. But a strong executive is a necessity for a change to right wing capitalist tendencies. A strong executive will not survive in New Zealand. Look how fondly Muldoon is remembered. Sorry a bit off topic, but there are a lot of reasons why New Zealand is the way it is and why it will struggle to become something it is not. And why becoming something it's not may not be a good thing.

+1 Admittedly some abuse the safety net. New Zealand is a welfare state. Compare it with Singapore, if you had an injury and you can't work any more. You attempt to sue anyone who can give you money to live on (not likely because the people you sue are wealthier than you and have more influence + better lawyers)....you're f**ked. Despite being wealthy, clean, healthy, etc, etc. The poverty gap is similar to some 3rd world countries. Some only just surviving, and because begging is banned....you're f**ked again. Some Singaporeans are actually under the poverty line with not enough food, etc. Hard to imagine in such a successful society? Well, yes they have no bludgers. But it's hard in different ways. If you can't work/produce in Singapore. You're not welcome there. But you can't leaver either, because it costs money to leave. So I'd rather pay high taxes for the safety net then New Zealand become as much of a rat race as Singapore. edit: btw, you want tax cuts? yea...not much income tax in Singapore....but try own a car. 40-60% tax, there's fines for everything and sometimes a relatively restricted lifestyle.

Yay for keeping the bonnet and boot the same colour. Definitely look forward to seeing it on the road!

What a superwoman. Yes perhaps people today are too lazy. But most mothers that I have encountered, lazy is the last thing that enters my mind. I would imagine most parents that work are usually fairly knackered when they get home, and combination of having to cook dinner, etc, etc makes them quite short on energy/temper compared to a fulltime parent. I still do not understand what you are arguing for? We were discussing benefits for those in need. I'm not sure a nurturing environment can be obtained with a single 30 hour income as well as having to play both parenting roles.
-
And be totally knackered? So the only time actually spent with the kids is in a ratty tired condition? I'm sorry, but perhaps I hold seemingly frivolous things like spending time with one's children in too high a regard. Maybe this is why so many children today wander the malls every day after school dressed like hookers and gangsters instead of maybe playing a sport or engaging in a more fruitful activity developing themselves? That's ridiculous! Take a gamble with all you have to go dispute something that is entirely legal? I'd say the mother made the wiser choice investing a house - which some might say is an asset! If she wasn't paying the mortgage, she would've been paying rent. I don't see what you are trying to argue for.

I'm sorry, despite media portrayal of "dole bludgers" a majority of the people on the benefit have just enough. Technically, if you want to see who "robs" the most, the tax dodgers do. Yes the high income upper middle class. A couple of studies have been done on this all over the globe. If I remember correctly Raymond Millar did one on New Zealand. I'll post it if I can try find it. But the conclusion was, just because you see some on tv abusing the system doesn't mean that you aren't going to drop thousands of people below the poverty line by deleting the benefits. Btw, I am from a upper middle family. I am very right wing and probably don't like dole bludgers as much as you do, but this doesn't mean I want to make properly less well off people even less well off. I'd rather put up with a minority of dole bludgers than see more kids growing up without full secondary education or health care. Removing what little support these people have would make the problem worse. A better way would be to bring them up to self-sufficient standards. 30hr weeks? Oh great another neglected child bound for mediocrity. Perhaps you don't understand that what we do now brings a better future for New Zealand. The more educated, the more in good jobs, the better it is for all of us. Look at any of the Scandinavian countries, extremely high standard of living, low crime, educated people who can contribute to society. But I fear you have missed my point, here it is again: I was agreeing with your assertion that the system is lacking. It does not encourage people to contribute to society. Hence my example. But hey, what do I know, I'm just a state-hurting student right?

For those of you bagging Helen Clarke, she is a career politician. Yes this means that she has done nothing but politics and tertiary in her life. This does not mean that she can't run a country. She works close to 18 hour days and is an extremely intelligent woman. I have attended a few of her lectures and have personally questioned some of her policies. She has logical and substantive answers, there is reason behind them when the situation has explained. For example, her working for families, etc. Her capabilities are not to blame, her ideologies ideologies are. The PC, everyone gets a 8th chance nanny state rubbish is what I don't like. We have a family friend who is a widower with children and unemployed. She went to WINZ and asked what would happen if she went for a part time job so she wasn't living off the dole and benefits. This dole and benefit is barely enough to keep her and her son fed and clothed. The result? WINZ told her if she worked 10-15hrs a week (part time) she would not qualify for any of her benefits - so she would have less than half of what she would have on the dole. Now, where is the incentive to work? She can not work full time as her son needs to be taken care of, and if she started working part time she would not have enough money to live on! Something is not right here! She is able to and willing to work, but is forced to stay on the benefit to feed her son! As for students? Well, I don't have a student loan or allowance, but many of my friends do. How about this - the student allowance is enough to keep fed and buy uni books. But by no means is it a luxurious lifestyle, many work a part time job or two. My girlfriend works two jobs on top of doing a full-time postgraduate degree. I, without a access to a student allowance, work three jobs on top of doing a fulltime double major (although this is mainly to fund my racecar ) So if you want New Zealand to have a higher degree of education then don't make it any harder on tertiary students. Yes there are a few out there who abuse the system, but there are those that will be prevented from acheiving excellence. If you ask me, it is better that those that can achieve are encouraged even if it means a minority abuse the system. Not everything is perfect, but preventing people from furthering themselves is a sure way to stagnate a country! As for Keys, he is also a very intelligent person with some gallant ideas for improving New Zealand. I have also attended a lecture from him, he is very influenced by Lee Kuan Yew which may or may not be a good thing. It'd compartmentalise New Zealand into pliable resources to be exploited for the good for development. This would be great if it left (what remains of) the laid back New Zealand lifestyle, but I fear that it will not. @M325is, IIRC there is a dole/benefit investigation unit, not to mention the sea of paper work before a benefit is given. But yes, the system does not encourage some able to work (as discussed above). Also, if the rich get richer, this usually means the poverty gap widens - the poor get poorer. Perhaps if you think about it as limited amount of money divided (unevenly) between the rich/middle/poor then if the rich get a bigger slice then the other two will get even less. EDIT: @Ollie, unfortunately tax payers all want different things. Not to mention interest groups like Federated Farmers and Business Roundtable. Often the party can not help losing control over some policy changes. My 2c

Have ground control setup. 2" out of front struts, 6" springs front 5" springs rear. So it's pretty low. Front is wound all the way up at the moment and there's 1/2 coke can clearance on standard lip. Looking at getting bigger springs to raise the car (and/or be able to use the techII front, so buy this before I change my mind). Want to be able to do hillclimbs without scraping cats eyes off the road. There's pics of Boyd's car with techI skirts on with tehII front, looks pretty good. edit: @tune, Might want to make sure BoydusM325 doesn't mind his car posted in here.
