  1. Good question! Yes, this is the lane deviation part of the system that activates on multi-lane roads, my example was on the motorway. in terms of your example, short answer I don't know sorry. The collision avoidance would brake at some point, but I would like to think it has the "intelligence" to realise what you're trying to do and allow the swerve.
  2. What an engine / car to be working on, I would be almost too scared to touch it in case I screwed up!! I don't believe they ever actually knew what the power output was for the "qualifying" spec engines as they went off the dial on the dyno, so it is usually referred to as "over 1,400" or something as that's where the gauge ended. Not sure they need a clean room if they are sticking to the original processes of leaving the blocks outside and pissing on them..?
  3. First impressions after driving the 530d model.. Positives, drives like a 5 Series should, very comfortable cruiser now with the benefit of the adaptive damper control can be changed and pushed harder in Sports mode and it sticks. Interior quality and technology huge step forwards, too much to take in for just one drive. So quiet, even with the diesel motor, and plenty of grunt. Only down side - hard to tell apart visually from the latest 7 Series! Not sure if this a bad thing, maybe for the 7 Series owners it is? Being a typical BMW driver I don't always indicate, and when pulling back left on the motorway, as I hadn't indicated the car physically steered me back into the right lane which was a little bit unnerving as it took me surprised. Once I realised what was going on, and why it was doing it, I was happier! Sure it will sell by the truck load in Europe and the US, but it will be interesting to see how many find homes in NZ due to our love affair with the X5 and SUVs.
  4. Pretty sure those trims are still made from metal, so more a panel beater task I would suggest.
  5. Ahh, cool, thanks for enlightening me. I've never come across one of those but then the E6x has never been on my radar in any shape or form. I've spent too much of my life driving for / to / from work. Even when it is a company car and all paid for, it is a big chunk of your life. Better these days in that you can work whilst in the car, but certainly wouldn't want to consider a long commute, time wise, every day. With the technology available there is little or no reason why you can't work at least part of the week from home with the majority of jobs.
  6. You won't be able to get it from Jeff Gray, They don't exist anymore, new owners now. But yeah, new part would be expensive. Try and fix it first.
  7. Are there? I'm struggling to think of any. Back on topic. I live 12kms from workplace, just over half hour into work on an average day, closer to 40mins on way home. Chose our home on a balance of time to work / schools / price. Luckily I don't work in CBD so can avoid motorways and worst of prices.
  8. If you are looking for an E30 325i sedan in reasonable condition with no issues, probably in the $5k - $7k range. A couple in the same condition would be a bit more probabty the $6k - $8k region. That is why I question the pricing on the 325i "race car" on TradeMe, I can't see the added value. As Olaf says, an E36 would be a cheaper option, but then, well it is an E36.
  9. You wouldn't happen to have the E36 M3 Evo front spindles would you.? That you want to sell...?
  10. It's only $3k more than the 325i you posted and is a much better bet for a week-end car. that 325i has been up for sale a loong time. It's too stripped for a road car but not caged for a race car. look after that 328i and it will go up in value, the only way the 325 will be worth more is to Spend big$$$ on it.
  11. Needs picture put up soon please.
  12. Bloody hell Bruce you have got some nice cars! This is very nice, I hope you have something suitable lined up to replace it with. GLWS.
  13. Thought that didn't sound quite right, and have just checked ETK, there are quite a few differences betweem the M2 brakes and the M135i, not just the drilled holes in the rotors. M2 runs 380 x 30mm fronts and 370 x 24 rears, different pads and different rear callipers. The m-sport brake kit (option code SA02NH) uses the same callipers, but again various rotor and pad combos depending on application. This set up might work on a non-msport brake vehicle but there could be a bit of adapting to fit. Still a good upgrade over the standard brakes.
  14. The fact that you have only had this "bypass" thing and it's not working after only six months should tell you something! Don't cut corners on safety, it's just not worth it.
  15. Have been M550i / M550d available in other markets for some time, as well as the M5. Not for sale here in NZ though as those M Performance models are LHD only, although more and more (including the xDrive variants) are now becoming available in RHD thanks to the demand from other RHD markets like UK and Aussie. M5 launches a year after the start of the rest of the range, and I wouldn't hold your breath for a manual.
  16. Thanks, as you were everybody.
  17. Needs a price please or thread will have to come down!
  18. AA were absolutely awful when I claimed with them last time. Wouldn't let me use the panel shop I wanted, used their own non-BMW approved repair centre and did an awful lash up of a job. Youi were just aggressive sales people - so no thank you. Ended up going with State, but haven't claimed with them yet so we shall see..
  19. Road And Track I believe. He is saying car was converted in Europe, possibly Birds UK. History is a bit sketchy IMHO.
  20. It was a demonstrator on the North Shore for the start of it's life so it would have been around the traps for a while.
  21. IIRC you can only copy files into the iDrive "Music Collection" if you have the later hard-drive version of the Professional Navigation option, not Business Navigation? I didn't think that option was available on 2010 cars? Also the original post was about playing the music from the USB drive rather than copying it, hence the response?
  22. Only one of the Melbourne Red was a sedan, rest were coupes. Surprisingly the one red sedan did have 3 pedals.
  23. Digging through the records there were a few brought in by BMW NZ that were different colours.. 4 x melbourne red ones, 7 of the Interlagos Blue (which I think is the one in the link from UK), 1 x Moonstone and 9 x Individual Paint cars, which I can't be bothered to check right now. so, yeah, there are a few NZ new out there but not many!
