  1. I know the Longhurst car you mean Josh that is a "normal" E30 bodyshell, but the one I saw on the road was an E30 M3. It is a replica of the JPS race cars, and looked pretty good.If the guy is trundling around town, through muddy roadworks, in a genuine grp-A JPS car then it needs to be taken away from him and cruelty charges laid against him !
  2. Never mind all that fancy, luxury goods, its the price of essentials which is killing me... ..beer and petrol gone up again !
  3. True.I thought bimmersport was pretty un-friendly to females, seems the Jeep guys are even worse!!
  4. A good point Pjay, but Sam is quite right, they have used a bit of poetic license to cut out the boring bit in the middle where the scan information is taken and turned into a CAD model. Even with the greatest software in the world this still takes a CAD operator a considerable amount of time and effort. It wouldn't make interesting viewing on the video though!Undoubtedly it's great technology and has a lot of applications, and it's coming on in leaps and bounds. I'm looking forward to it's application in production use, rather than one off and proto-typing, that will be fun!
  5. ^^ x 2 Get BMWorkshop to look at it and save the money on the AA inspection. Need a specialist for this kind of car, to check out any errors on the ECU etc. That is a sharp price for an E46 330i, good luck, hope it goes through.
  6. Agreed. Got a linky to more info and pictures, love this car.Looks like they had no option but to remove the Vanos, no room in there for it. Very, very clean install though, looks like it was in there all along.
  7. "Police denied they made changes. The Honda just looks like a Merc, they said." Lolly-pops! Just don't tell that to Clinton!!
  8. Need the metal plate that the headlights mount up to only, not the lights. Anyone got one for cheap?
  9. Listing has disappeared again.. wonder what has happened now??
  10. I got to see a number of great events there over the years, did a few meetings as a marshall and managed to drive quite a few laps as well. The really annoying thing is that the race track was there before the houses around it, why buy a house next to a race track and then moan about the noise?? The rules and controls got ridiculous in the end, just so the rich people in the big houses didn't have to listen to the noise of race cars at the end of their garden, absolute joke!
  11. Yup, the decision was made a couple of seasons back, so while the race was still held at Silverstone last year (or possibly the year before) was supposed to be the last British GP at Silverstone. This was supposed to give Donnington time to get the track ready, but they failed to get it done. Agree 100%, Brands was my local track in the UK and is a great circuit, however, it would need lots of work to get it up to current F1 standards, plus there are lots of NIMBYs that live around the circuit and don't want racing there - just like Western Springs. I would love to see Brands back on the F1 circuit, but it will take a huge amount of work and money to make it happen, that was partyl why Donnington was the winning British GP bid. Luckily Silverstone managed to get things resolved with Bernie in time (with help from the government) otherwise there would have been no GP in th UK!
  12. The race was actually given to Donnington Park, (not Brands), and it was supposed to be run there this year. However, the consortium behind Donnington couldn't get all the money it needed to get the track up to standard, so it went back to Silverstone. There is no problem with the track and the facilities, this issue is between Bernie Ecclestone's huge ego and the BRDC who own Silverstone. It did lead to a change in the track and the addition of some extra buildings which is no bad thing, although I did prefer it when Silverstone was just a flat-out speed ring with one chicane.I don't like to see any one driver or Team dominate to the extent that Red Bull are at the moment, the more cars and drivers who are in contention and scrapping it out, the better. Fingers crossed Webber has used up all his bad luck and can put some pressure on Vettel for a change.
  13. The swirl flap issue has happened in these engines, but is not as common as in the 2.0ltr diesels of the same time. The 3.0d uses the bigger flap, which is a bit more robust. Just to be safe I have taken the flaps out of mine and put the blanking plugs in - it's only a couple of hour job to pull off the inlet and swap out the flaps, and no difference in performance or emissions. Another area of concern is the turbo failure, in this later version of the E46 it should be better, but again the issue is not un-known. From what they said in the previous listing about THEY had changed the oil every 10ks, I would look carefully at the service history. Yes, the book says you can run to 18,000 miles between services, but only if you use the correct oils, not if you chuck Supercheap 10w/40 in it!
  14. Yeah, funny that, I specifically asked about the distance as it was a RHD UK spec, but listed in Kms. Didn't want to get too know-it-all with them, but it turns out it was in miles so a bit of a difference. I don't think they are trying to pull any funny stuff with the re-listing, I think they are just a bit noob when it comes to TradeMe. Still might be worth a cheeky bid Clinton..?
  15. Looks hot, hope she goes as good as she looks!
  16. Diddly done. You can also go through and "thumbs down" all the other competitors to give an extra advantage!
  17. Black E30 M3 with gold RS's and JPS decals on it Registration NL?? Driving through Palmy this morning around 8.30ish - anyone know it? Looked interesting, not sure if it was a caged race car or not - nearly missed it as it went past.
  18. Buy the M3 THEN go on the cruise.
  19. We have a factory wide shut down for three weeks over Christmas which takes just over half my leave. Plus need two days off for any race meetings in Auckland, got days booked off already for two trips to SI... Can't really afford to take it unpaid (and spend lots of money on a concert)! Never mind, Oli can tape it on his phone and I'll watch it later !
  20. Nice car, and a very nice combination all round, the only thing possibly missing is the leather (and that is purely a matter of personal taste). There does look to be some very interesting bidding going on in the auction. I'm 99% sure the bidder "thorbet" was linked to the Strat on one of his dodgy auctions. Look out!
  21. Gutted it's on a monday night, would need two days off work for the trip and don't have much leave left with all the rugby and race week-ends , so will have to give it a miss.
  22. The truth of any modern day assembly plant is that the workers employed there are semi-skilled at best, most plants run on a 12 - 18 second cycle time. How skilled do you have to be to do the same task all day every 18 seconds? Mass produced cars, even BMWs are hardly hand built any more. I am not 100% sure where the BMW Spartanburg factory is in the states, but many of the auto factories are close to the Mexican border, to take advantage of cheap Mexican labour coming over the border each day! At least the BMW factories are owned and operated by BMW Ag, the "head" company, others like Mercedes have contracted out the whole operation to other companies to do the work for them. Your ML for example was built by Magna Steyr (inlcuding quite a few Mexicans probably!!) kind of makes you think about "German reliablility" a bit!!
  23. Some good pics in this small article from Top Gear. http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/bmw-m-fes...06-28?imageNo=0 Spot the odd-one-out..?
