The render does look a lot better, partly because of the different angle of the shot, and no lighting effects. Also the render is the M340i/d version with the different front grille, lower front apron and lower ride height - all of which will alter the view of the car. Bottom photo is an M-Sport version, verus the M Performance in the render. If you're not convinced on this grille design, you are in for some treats next year!

If you want a $10k reliable car, then that would rule out the Subaru Legacy - when you get down to that price level on those they are entering the "captain, she's gonna blow" period of their life when something has either just popped and the owner wants rid, or owner is scared it's about to pop. Great cars, great fun, especially the 4wd twin turbos, incredibly versatile wagons, but when they start to go.. wholly hecka.

If it’s a dry day get the car taken a drive not just started. Full fresh tank of diesel would be good for over 12 months. bleed brakes well when you take it back out. Watch out for washer fluid, I have had that turn to jelly in storage. Dilute it a bit and fill the bottle. I keep the windows cracked open to allow it to breathe, and a proper car cover over the top to keep dust out.

I think it is BMWblog that is wrong, as I do believe that BMW AU are not offering the G21. As new cars Tourings are a hard sell in NZ as well, more SUVs sold than saloons, hatches, lift-backs, coupes, convertibles and estates COMBINED. Only estates that sell in anything like a reasonable number are the RS4 and RS6. Fingers crossed the M340i takes it to them.

I believe the M340d will start production the same time as the M340i (which is not from launch as this article claims, for RHD anyways). Diesel is only "too far gone" for those manufacturers that decided to cheat rather than develop better engines.

I won't even ask how you even know that is a thing... Back to the car in question. Not sure the performance of a 328i coupe is going to back up the aggessive look of the car, really needs something special under the hood to justify the wide arches and rubber. As MEAN said, looks dumb not to have flowed the arch flares around into the front and rear bumpers.

Can relate to what you’re saying here, got a G30 530i at the moment and it certainly is a very comfortable drive.

Yeah the 436M is the standard wheel, whereas the 719M is the wheel that comes with the Shadow Pack. Thought they looked a bit different to the photo, but my memory was obviously playing tricks on me.

Are those the Shadow Edition wheels in the photo? I thought they were a different style to that.

I can’t wait until the details of the G80 M3 and G82 M4 are released, some nuts will get well and truly spun.?? The new 4 Series should keep us entertained until then.

This is the start of the (life)cycle of this model. Competition models, or competition package options have nothing to do with facelift (or LCI) refresh it is just another level of spec and options on the car. CSL has deliberately NOT been used on these models due to the heritage that nomenclature has with BMW. Yes, it is a bit confusing and takes a little bit of thought to understand, but it’s not that hard for those that are genuinely interested in buying to work out.
