Whatya rekon about welding a bracket into the tunnel to attach the console in the perfect spot, so its no longer mounted to the gear box? I assume its mounted to the box to stop the engine moving around popping it out of gear, but I wonder if its really necessary?

E24/28 M5/6 mounts, Yup using renault clio booster, fits shweet and from what ive read actually improves braking on an E30. Also has the one way valve mounted on the booster, so looks cleaner too Theres roughly 15-20mm room between the rack/crossmember. Gearbox mounts are late E21 ones, they are a bit beefier than the stock ones. Bigger stud on them too so had to open up gearbox and cross member holes, but no biggy. Had a go at hooking up the heater hoses this arvo, got the top one on (from the "spider" hose) but the lower one doesnt have a hope of fitting on. I bought an M50 E36 lower hose and its totally wrong. Wondering if the M20 one fits? Whats everyone use? its a tight little space and I keep getting kinks however I work the E36 hose (even when cut down)

Pics - First couple are of the wank angle of the whiteline bars. Its like they copied the factory bars dimensions, but didnt take in the fact that thicker bars makes the distance between the bends smaller. On the rear it shows up as the sway links on an angle (as the ends line up directly with the centre of the U lugs on the arms) Could be fixed by fabricating some L mounts and bolting them to the arms. Engine in pics, Tig'ed on some studs to the lower strap of the radiator (think its a E36 328 one) so it mounts like the factory e30 one. ^ Wanky console angle, needs bashing.

I think mine predates the mounts for the alloy console, not 100% on that though. Can you tell from this ? Uploaded with ImageShack.us I might have to get my grind/weld on

Anyone else swapped an M50/260 into an early E30? Im looking at my pressed steel shifter console and the wacky angle its on, and im not liking it, im also scratching my head working out how to fix it. Its distorting the rear mount something chronic. Google aint helping

Bump. I need the body side of one of these plugs, looks like its more common than my T plug which I cant even find a photo or reference too

Forgot the camera again, but shes looking more and more like a drivable car. Take pics tommorrow Got the engine in, had to grind a rib on the M50 block to clear the huge early E30 starter. Getting the engine in wasnt too much of a nightmare, its tight on the firewall side though. Got the gearbox crossmember modded and bolted in, think I might have to do something about the shifter console, its all on the piss. Whiteline front bar is in. What a bitch. They are about 10mm too short I think, the bushes ride up hard in the radius's and make installation a total mare. In fact the rear bar looks too narrow as well. Its all in though, hopefully the bushes are up to the job. Added to the fact the kit came with half the bolts AWOL, im not that impressed. Gonna email whiteline as the fit is really sh*t, and could be way better. They are however EPICALLY stiff. Serious go-kart stuff. Lowered the front end, got some cool stance going on, the sway bars are so stiff that undoing the tophat on one strut is pointless as the swaybar doesnt allow it too drop. Makes it very entertaining when adjusting the ride height.

Shweet, be there 8-5ish today, gonna try jimmy my way in to do the wiring on my car tommorrow too. If the front door etc are all locked up shoot around the back. Lots of theiving dero buggers in Mt eden. Some dude stole about 600kgs of engines and old gearboxes in the weekend. Broke into the locked scrap cage and stole every peice of alloy, and left behind all the sh*t...
-
Be awesome to have a looksee at a real live working one, but am kinda at the grindstone with the M50 swap, off to seattle next week so time is precious! If your around Mt Eden at any point and feel like collecting some beers, shoot into the TTT auto chop shop (behind burgerfuel) at 222 Dominion Rd
-
If you want to try a swapping it with a known good booster I have one you can have. Its currently in the scrap pile, but can be rescued if you want it, just yell out before it gets converted into beer money.
-
Shes rollllling Engine goes in tommorrow, sort out the wiring, make a new gearbox crossmember and start fabricating the exhaust. Then turn the key and see what happens
-
Me Ill fire it up again in 30 odd min if your keen to see some more mad drift skills! (HA!) Hopefully the server doesnt nut out again, got really confusing and was kinda laggy (your car was jumping around the track)

Anyone able to post a pic/pics of how their battery is secured, how the cable is routed (under the dash), and where the + terminal block sits on the firewall, in an E30 boot setup (factory) I have a box of random bits im trying to make fit together. Could just mongrel it, but there must be some combination of bits that works! Im pretty sure I have excess bits too, some dont look like BMW parts

Ill send you the k car now, you send me the vitz. K car is pleeennnty tweaked to beat the K car race. Save me from buying a vitz lol Happy to swap back once ive done the vitz race. Just noticed that my new diff has a different speedo plug to my car. Car has a standard looking T style plug, diff has a funky looking white thing with round edges. Anyone got the car side of the plug with round edges so I can solder it in? Cheers.

Swap ya vitz for a tuned K car if ya want, cant even remember what it is

Just looked at the paperwork on the BC's Front and rear springs rates are 6kg/mm (336 lb/in) Hows this compare to yours APT?
-
Multiplayer tonight? Keen as bean. Something close to race with, like under 250hp so you gotta work to win

Between $120-170 for magparticle and certification for two struts. SGS in onehunga, they do it while you wait.

Rear end done, finally. The trick to getting the sway bar bushes in is two vice grips, a small one and a big un, and a prodger to line the bolt holes up. Crank it down as far itll go with the big un, clamp the little one on to hold it it in place, release big un, crank it down again, reclamp little one. Rinse and repeat as necessary while lining the holes up with the prodger until you can get the bolt in. First one took about 45mins to work out how to do it, second one took less than 5. Word to the wise, the diff needs to be out of the picture to get the sway bar in (doh) Unfortunatly one of my front struts weld failed NDT, so redo it and recheck it tommorrow, and then she'll be rolling again.
