Anyone come across the p/n for the chrome strip that sits next to the interior window seal on the front doors of an e30 coupe? The rear sections are part #1, but the front door sections dont seem to be listed, or are listed somewhere funky on realoem.

Chrome trim or shadow line? Im tossing up between the two.. Liking the chrome at the moment, as it seems to be less done, and looks more oldskool If anyone is hording mint chrome trim and bumpers for a pfl coupe yell out before I go CC nuts again... EDIT - Is it possible to change the trim on an opening rear window in a coupe, realoem only lists the whole assembly Personally think this looks sh*t hot, chrome but not too much chrome.. Lots of front fender strake thing want...

+1, Both licenses can be taken away in a flash for not being a "fit and proper person", it does happen.

Personally I plan on getting my PPL as my mid life crisis and building me a kit plane, being a bus driver has no appeal Aint no glamour or hostees in it though I would stick with the engineering, at least get your level 4 in all the subjects (I assume RNZAF is on the NZQA goat-f system too), then look at CPL, as then if you get stuck with out a an pilot job you'll have something to fall back on that still will leave you in the industry, and starting something without finishing it looks stink on a resume. The best option would be to go hard at your LAME exams at the same time as level 4, and come out of the airforce in demand, and then you could fund your CPL with no student loan. If driven enough and went hard at your apprenticeship and LAME exams you can have them all nailed in 3 years from the start, it would be hard but is doable. Edit - The added bonus of being both a LAME and holding a CPL is you'd be one of the few pilots who actually know how their plane works

Id rather walk than fly in a skoda/airbus Seriously, take a look, talk to people in the industry (not the pilot CPL factories who pump em out!) and think about it first man. How many of the previous posters here have a CPL, how many use it? Everyone wants to be a pilot for the romance of it, but reality sucks. By all means go for it, but be realistic about it or youll find yourself in the same boat as all the other people with CPL's working at Air Woolworths paying of an epic student loan

Im an engineer for air NZ, been doing it for 10 years (since I was 17), contracting around the world etc, so I know the industry pretty well. The reality is, be prepared to earn NAFF all for the first few years, like less than $8 an hour to fly bug smashers for small operators, fighting with other pilots in your situation to get into the seat, add to this working as an instructor to get your hours up, then getting another job to actually pay the bills... Once you have your CPL you'll need upwards of 6000 hours before an airline (even a small one) will even consider you. Personally, I know lots of guys who have suddenly decided that they want to be pilots in there mid 20's, and it is hard, bones of ass, yards. Its one of those jobs you need to start training for when about when your 17 and can live on the smell of an oily rag, that way by the time your 30 you might earn 50k a year I considered being a pilot when I was younger, but thought at the end of the day id rather be an engineer than a bus driver Dont mean/want to smash your dreams, but there are thousands of pilots in NZ that are trying to get there hours up to fly commercially and struggling. I know people wit CPL's working as loaders/drivers/storeman etc simply because they cant get the hours to be viable to a company at the same time making it financially work. There arent that many good engineer's though, and theyre always in demand. Engineers can earn much better money earlier in their career, and once licensed with ratings on some decent planes goood coin can be made if your willing to travel (no chance of earning a 747 PIC wage ever though! ) EDIT, BTW Mark, I think you might know Russell S, he mentioned he knew a guy with a E30 M50 a few weeks ago. Small world

Personally I think technology peaked in the early 90's, ever since its just been BS. Cars are turning into epic lardass whales, most modern cars weigh 30% more than their older equivalents, packed full of computers and new whizzbang technology too make them safe for munter drivers. I wonder how much better these overweight cars actually are at stopping/going/cornering compared to their physics laws abiding older versions...

Looks like the offspring of a lister storm and an E36, the ass end/rear gaurds/front end/front gaurds are cringe worthy...

Park it up a slight up hill when you go to bleed it, makes a huge difference in getting air out. Make sure to drill a couple of little holes in the top of the thermostat if it doesnt already have them ( I stuck two 3/32 holes in mine) , makes it much easier. be sure your heater is on full hot when you do it too. I have an M20 80 degree thermostat in mine, with a late model E30 radiator and a 14" fan on a davis craig automagic switch and it seems to work well, temp sits at roughly 1/3rd driving normally. Hot day in heavy traffic it goes up too just below half. edit - too little sleep and too many words

Just called a mate of mine down south, after remembering he went on about how sh*t hot he was at repairing a totally toasted microtech (blown fets etc...) . He's keen to have a play for beers, very economic! Cheers!

Yeh thats what im after, in lower gears with the 3.64 its way too easy to hit the limiter before changing Dont wanna rev it too a squillion rpm, but changing gear at bang on 6k seems a bit naff as you have to stop right when it sounds, and goes, the best Can you recommend anyone to have a look at my washed DME? , I looked at it and it looks to be a blown track, and maybe an itsy resistor thats toasted. If I can get it repaired (economically!) it might be an option for a "play" DME.
-
Is 6.3-6.5k the normal rev limit cut out for an M50B25? E34 pre-vanos, If peak power is 6000rpm, a couple of rpm over that seems a little bit close, its actually a tad annoying as she wants to rev! What are the odds my performance chip from the "washed" DME is toast? If i have spiked it, is it possible for it too wreck a good DME? Is it worth the $250 rare 402 DME risk...

Highly recommend taking it too a mechanic who is a bit more confident about fixing it, no offense meant, but from your replies I dont think you are up to it. Dont drive it, its likely gonna be cheap to fix at the moment, as long as it doesnt get any more busted in the mean time Where are you in auckland?
