  1. 9.5l/100km on the M50B25'd E30, mostly highway driving with a 3.64 diff. Think I could crack 9 easily with a less heavy foot.
  2. Check the fine print too, I had one on my skyline and it turned out to be a bad joke of a warranty, cant remember exactly what they charged me for but a rooted gearbox, under warranty, cost me $600. Lumley might have been the warranty provider?

    E30 M50 leftovers

Engine is hopefully sold, everything else remains up for grabs. Also have a genuine BMW NZ towbar and tech1 rear kit (with towbar hole) that'll be coming off my car in the next week if anyone wants it. Ummmm $80 for the tow bar, $100 for the rear valance, or $150 for them both. Both in good nick, kit could do with a paint as is mattish swartz black. And if anyone has any use for a very very very near new nissens E30 radiator (built in expansion tank, manual) with a rooted core (might be repairable) all the plastic etc is fine you can have it for $10 Also have a doorstop shaped like an M50 DME for sale
  4. Anyone got any hints/tips/links for troubleshooting what wrong with diagnostic not finding my DME? Im pretty sure I didnt disturb any of the wiring between the diagnostic plug and DME so am a bit lost on where to start!

    Crash Course

Greg murphy should be ashamed of himself for this dribble. The science behind the tests is sooo epically bad. End Rant.
  6. ^ Ha, dont worry I called myself worse at the time Get through the whole swap without focking anything electrical (amazing for me) and then I go and wreck it but giving it a wash.... Left a little hole in the bag, its more splash proof than waterproof. Thought about throwing a dessicant bag in there too but couldnt find one. Now to stop breaking stuff. Off to Whakatane tommorrow to give it a serious proving run, will be keeping track of the gas mileage as it seems like a whore at the moment (was running noticeably rich with no engine coolant sensor though)
  7. New DME, problem solved. Wrapped the new one in freezer bags to prevent the worlds most expensive car wash happening again. DME sits behind the M3 cover, bolted up against the firewall behind the battery tray. Thought it would be a nice dry area.... Behind the relays is not dry...
  8. To beg/borrow/steal. 0 261 200 402 Out of E34/E36. Has anyone got one for sale, even if its only to borrow for trouble shooting its better than nothing. Thanks!
  9. Pulled DME, swapped chip back to stock. No change. But I did notice moisture in the DME, from when I washed it at lunchtime
  10. Houston we have a problem. Started, idled for about 15 seconds then died. Still cranking and we have fuel, thinking my DME may have sucked the kumara. Random as it ran fine this morning and nothing has changed...
  11. What about that epoxy polyurethaney stuff. Cant remember the trade name but you essentially make your own bush using it. Ive never used it but a mate has and says it cool stuff.
  12. Definite difference, hard to tell how much. Seems to pull a tad harder up top, stock felt quite linear. No obvious drop in low-mid range either and its still nice and smooth. Chirps hard grabbing 2nd, not bad for 215's and an LSD. What it IS doing now is burbling/popping much more noticeably on the overrun

    Andrews E30 Sedan

^ FTW We are gonna have to have a M20B27 Vs M50B25 battle APT. Go the whiteline bars, they rule (once youve stopped hating them during installing) and we'll have the same suspension setup I really dont think polyurethane bushes have added that much harshness to the E30, its definitly firmer than stock but with the shocks wound up to 20 odd clicks its really not that uncomfortable. What diff are you running?
  14. Looks shweet, cleaning engine bays is a bitch.
  15. Took car for a good thrash out to helensville today, stoked as. Worth all the money, M50 Owns M20 in every way. Pulled the DME apart tonight and swapped the pro formance chip in, will see what seat of pants difference it makes tommorrow. 6000rpm haul over taking a truck gave me a boner, its not WOW faster than an M20, but pulls much harder at any rpm, and sounds sexual up top with howling intake noise and the headers at the right rpm The clutch from rds feels sweet, its noticeably harder pedal than stock but is perfectly drivable in traffic, even with the lightened B23 flywheel (which must weigh under 6kg) No shuddering etc. Being relatively gentle with it while counting the break in miles... Whens the next BMW meet at meremere? Be interested to see if its in the 14's.
  16. Till you have a chromed 458 Italia you aint yet made it
  17. +1 Mate has one (6 speed), it goes well, not particularly fast though (low 15 1/4's) Nice car though, nice to sit in
  18. Anyone got any, or know of a source, of legal brake booster vacuum line? Ive searched the local suppliers but they all look at me like > Dont need much, maybe 15cm, to fit an M50 manifold (cant remember measurement ATM) Prefer new over second hand, but am not too fussy
  19. fock do repco suck. Give them the right p/n, they give me the wrong tridon part... and charge $100 for it.. Useless as tits on a bull.
  20. Removed the epically complicated heated window squirter/headlight washer system that leaked like a sieve and had wires/tubes/T-connectors up the wazzooo. KISS was not the motto for this system on an E30, WTF were they thinking! Two wires, 1 tube, no leaks FTW.

    Need help again

+1 Aircon = Cool. Heater = Hot. Car Hot + Hot outside = Open Window + Drink cold beer. Car Hot + Cold Outside = Turn Heater Off. If Heater is off, make sure it is actually off
