That is one spiffy looking m20.

I remember back in the day reading NZPC, as a young tool, when this thing was getting built. For an MR2, it was pretty friggin badass.
-
^ Will do. Anyone actually done it? I dont imagine it would take hours and hours of dyno time to do as it would be a (comparatively) simple map. Weighing it up on a bang for buck scale
-
Is it worth the dollars for a relatively stock engine? 2.5" exhaust, Cold airbox and pod, headers. What sort of gains can be expected? Anyone actually done it to an M50 with stock insides and no turbo?
-
That sucks, was probably the best M50 swap site out there.
-
Two straight through mufflers and a coby FTW. Much quieter, but still sounding tough 700 miles on the clock since the swap.
-
Looks staunch as on those wheels. Lots of want.
-
Bump. Holy sh*t are there some clowns on trademe, after I placed bad feedback on the original seller and made a fixed price offer to the watchers, he came into the workshop and took the engine off my oblivious mate. So now ive sold it to two people, what a mess

Mid engined twin turbo M20B25 E30... Epic, but why?
-
Also have a PFL front kit, no idea what it is, possibly early BBS? Look through the project thread for more pics. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=31249 Lower edge looks to have been removed, but cant gaurantee it as have never seen one the same. Someone with some glassing/plastic welding skills could turn it into something a bit different to the usual E30 front end. $50 ono. As always, I have NO room to store this stuff, so it needs to go, make an offer and Ill probably take it as long as your not takin the piss

Forgot to mention the best bit! Going through the karangahake gorge, down changing and blipping the throttle while enjoying the windy bits. Big, big, big Grin

Ohope and back prooving run. Ran well with the exception of spliting the only hose on the engine that I didnt replace, this afternoon, and the most a**hole hose in the car. The M20 one from the back of the block to the heater. Big ups to the AA man in Ngatea for opening the garage (behind shell) and letting me get the car on the hoist to fix it, you da man. Averaging 9.5l/100km. E30 at the beach..
-
Mmmmmm.. Wanna swap them for some mint alpinas?
-
9.5l/100km on the M50B25'd E30, mostly highway driving with a 3.64 diff. Think I could crack 9 easily with a less heavy foot.
-
Check the fine print too, I had one on my skyline and it turned out to be a bad joke of a warranty, cant remember exactly what they charged me for but a rooted gearbox, under warranty, cost me $600. Lumley might have been the warranty provider?
-
Engine is hopefully sold, everything else remains up for grabs. Also have a genuine BMW NZ towbar and tech1 rear kit (with towbar hole) that'll be coming off my car in the next week if anyone wants it. Ummmm $80 for the tow bar, $100 for the rear valance, or $150 for them both. Both in good nick, kit could do with a paint as is mattish swartz black. And if anyone has any use for a very very very near new nissens E30 radiator (built in expansion tank, manual) with a rooted core (might be repairable) all the plastic etc is fine you can have it for $10 Also have a doorstop shaped like an M50 DME for sale
-
Anyone got any hints/tips/links for troubleshooting what wrong with diagnostic not finding my DME? Im pretty sure I didnt disturb any of the wiring between the diagnostic plug and DME so am a bit lost on where to start!
-
Greg murphy should be ashamed of himself for this dribble. The science behind the tests is sooo epically bad. End Rant.

^ Ha, dont worry I called myself worse at the time Get through the whole swap without focking anything electrical (amazing for me) and then I go and wreck it but giving it a wash.... Left a little hole in the bag, its more splash proof than waterproof. Thought about throwing a dessicant bag in there too but couldnt find one. Now to stop breaking stuff. Off to Whakatane tommorrow to give it a serious proving run, will be keeping track of the gas mileage as it seems like a whore at the moment (was running noticeably rich with no engine coolant sensor though)

Found one. Chur.

New DME, problem solved. Wrapped the new one in freezer bags to prevent the worlds most expensive car wash happening again. DME sits behind the M3 cover, bolted up against the firewall behind the battery tray. Thought it would be a nice dry area.... Behind the relays is not dry...

To beg/borrow/steal. 0 261 200 402 Out of E34/E36. Has anyone got one for sale, even if its only to borrow for trouble shooting its better than nothing. Thanks!

Pulled DME, swapped chip back to stock. No change. But I did notice moisture in the DME, from when I washed it at lunchtime
