Sweet car man, good to see it being used too!
-
Anyone able/keen to run a diagnostic scan on this thing mid next week? All going well I can bring it around, otherwise it might require someone to come looksee.
-
Would be keen on the kit, with the exception of the skirts if possible. But it'll have to wait till after new years. If its still available then Ill give ya holla

I have these on my car, came with the 17's I got of APT, I actually really like em! They're pretty quiet, and grip really well in the dry (havent really drivin them in the wet so cant say) Most chinese tyres seem to be made of hard black plastic instead of rubber. Aparently Federal tyres has a hand in hero. In all honesty, id drive on em till they crap out and then think about replacing with name brand. I think you'll be surprised about how good they are. China is definetly getting better at making stuff properly. Chinese rubbish bashing a few years ago was justified, but theyre lifting their game with lots of stuff recently.

^ That exactly what I said when it started. Even hooking up the battery for the first time had me a tad worried! Once I had turned all the wipers/indicators/hazards/fan etc off that my a**hole mates had turned on when I wasnt watching and flicked the key all the head scratching/running around was worth it Obviously got the exhaust finished (6-2-1 headers to 2.5", coby in the middle and one of those DTM style mufflers on the tail), driveshaft back in and the wiring finished. Now needs interior, brakes, and a clutch, big coolant bleed and a serious wheel alignment its on the piss so much it feel like the handbrake is on when pushing it around. Have to wait till next week, off to seattle tommorrow.

Turned the key.... Started first pop! Sounded like a 300,000km mitzy engine for about 2 minutes, was slightly worried! But once she got oil flowing again its nice and quiet. Those lifters havent seen oil pressure in a long time! Nothings leaking, no particularly weirdness noted. Stoked as! Sounds F-ing tough too, very happy with the exhaust note Got a few things to sort out engine wise, aint got no temperature gauge, and the oil level doesnt seem to be working. I dumped near 6L into it, and its below the bottom notch of the dipstick, thinking maybe the engine oil of a seriously drained engine is more than the service capacity (5.75L?) and the warning light may actually be working correctly. Meh, Easy sh*t. It works!

Anyone got that super dooper car yet the GT5 ultimate car thing

Cable tension is at the handbrake on the nuts, the star adjustment doofas that actually adjust where the shoes sit is in the hub (stick a long screw stick through a wheel bolt hole and turn the adjuster). The idea is essentially to lock the wheel with the star adjuster, back if off a few turns, then adjust the handbrake cable tension/clicks it takes to lock the wheels. Problem is, how do I adjust them evenly when I cant turn one wheel at a time. Ie I can have the left one dragging and feel the drag in the right wheel. The solution is pulling the halfshaft bolts out of the diff, was hoping there was some cool trick to get em even
-
Beauty, that'll do it, thanks.

Any one got any tricks for adjusting E30 handbrake with a really tight LSD? Shouldve done it with the halfshafts removed, but really cant be assed removing them now
-
Cheers man, Legend. Thanks for the help, its the last wire left!

Yeh, a lot more than $200 for bushes I spent $400 on polyurethane for the whole car (that was cheap as!), add lots of time and swearing for install. If your an absolute legend and dont find any nasty rust etc, bank on 1.5 days labour if youve got a press (and mandrels that fit), you could maybe do it it with a big vice and a FBH, but itll add to swearing/time. I priced up a whole set of whiteline bushes, at trade, it was closer to $1k. Car looks nice BTW, diggin the colour.

Is anyone able to tell me which pin & plug (blue/white) on the instrument cluster is road speed? All my kingdom for a 85 323 wiring diagram I tells ya. Oh, and where can I get vacuum line for the booster?, aparently it actually has too be specific brake booster vacuum lines for the cert.

Had the CSL M3, Meh its heavy and a bit of a slug. Carbon wizzbangs cant make up for excessive lardassness Sold it when I got the road going GTR which is way cooler, in black The caterham 7 fireblade is awesome fun when supercharged too. If you wanna swap 2002 turbo for M3 GTR im keen docile. I agree, its f-ing good game, but its not 5 years in the making good. Races are easy, some of the special races stuff is just stupidly hard though. I owned GT2 rallying, Gt5 rally are way too tough, borderline impossible. And the top gear challenges totally suck balls, frustrating & boring. Coming in 2nd after two careful laps of not touching any other car only to get tapped by the muppet AI 400m from the finish, and then spinning out, is no fun.
-
Docile - Yup still keen but I cant send the chrome line car, come sup with a message - You cannot give this car to friend. Sent ya a msg on GT5, anything else your keen to swap for?
-
Same deal as above, you can probably swap your B20 loom onto the B23, havent looked into it though. Just assuming Id compare p/n's on realoem and work out whats interchangeable between the two engines, likely a lot. Car is a 12/85 manual UK spec http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.do?mode...mp;mospid=47260

Hahah, You couldve heard and driven it 2 weeks ago Its only cheap as I cant be assed hording, have no room for it, and there are literally M20's for africa available at the moment (for probably too much money as I dont see them selling very fast!) and I need to get rid of this one The way it works for me is, if I sell it now I get beers, If it stays in mates workshop it costs me beers (and verbal abuse)

Depends what you want too do, and what your car already has. Could spend thousands, or a under a hundy if all you want to do is find a starter and flywheel and your gearbox bolts up. Ideally you'd want to do the cambelt, waterpump, thermostat, rocker gaskets etc, and the intake elbow is rooted (had been repaired with epoxy sealant, but needs replacing). You could add a set off plugs, new ignition leads, new dizzy and rotor etc etc etc. It has done 145,000miles, and is 26 years old!, but in saying that it was still running fine and dandy, but will need some love in the future I have literally only changed the oil (every 5k miles) in 3 years. Play with some wiring (it'd be pretty simple Ive just lopped the C101 (rectangle at the fusebox) and C103 (under dash next to DME) , but theyre only useful on early E30's anyway (pre 85) Ive re-emailed (3rd one) this guy on tardme, if no reply on wednesday we can talk. If all you need is storage for a couple of weeks (ie less than a month) its OK where it is. Edit - Gearstick got biffed sorry, had to draw the line with the massive pile of old/new bits.

Sweet, mate has one in his cosworth, was perving at it today wondering if it'd fit in the E30 (he was bragging about how much cooler his car is with its red coupler...egg) Good too know you can get em for E30, ill order one after christmas. Liking these too - https://store.nexternal.com/ireland/images/...ustableendl.jpg

Was just about to ask the same question, autolign it is Judging by how hard it is too push my E30 around, its wellll on the piss. -
Had a think about it and... ^ Did this. Can get 5th, but one wouldnt want it any more on the turps! Can live with it. Started fabricating the exhaust, rear set of primaries are done, they look pretty friggin sexy, wrapping around the steering flexjoint. However I dropped the steering universal joint doofa out for ease of fabrication, and found that the rubber plate in the centre is toast. The one bushy thing I forgot to buy. DOH! Itll probably have to wait till later. Finally got an alternator bolt couriered out, pity it didnt fit, too short. Went on a mission to steel master (onehunga) and they hooked me up. M10x150 FTW. M20 heater hose is the one for the back of the head to the lower heater core fitting, it fits perfect. Sure I read E36 on the interwebs, but it dont have a hope of fitting. Got the radiator in, dunno how everyone says you can get a 16" fan in the front. I just got a 14" fan in, but I have the factory forward baffle too. Finish wiring and exhaust tommorrow, turn the key wednesday

Yup gone burgers. Diff/halfshafts are gone burgers. Havent heard a peep from the the dude on trademe who won my engine for $56. He seems to have lots of feedback about placing bids and not making contact So if anyone wants an M20B23 for $50, yell out and if I havent heard from him by wednesday its yours. Ive lopped some plugs off the loom, and it has no flywheel but is otherwise complete. For $60 Ill include the metal airbox

I hate those tugger clear tail lights. Why does every monkey with an E36 have em, they are epically rude.
