Took the 130 for a very over due drive out to kaipara today, got pulled over on the way home... 100% police profiling 😕 Was in middle of queue of traffic doing exactly 100kmh, light truck in front of and behind me,... apparently the goat track out there is 80 (going to google maps street view it, because faffed if I saw any signs..)... I need to do some research into radar detectors.

Yeah, they are so much better with a manual, suits the car. Those that disagree just dont like the fact that they are better No different transmission to the 4 pots, GS6-37BZ-TJES is 130 box (370Nm rated), shared with Z4 3.0Si and thats it. In saying that there will be a bunch that have slightly different ratios/bolt holes/input shaft dimensions that will/will not work (M54 E46 ZHP, Z4M etc all have GS6-37BZs)

I paid $700 for my first car, a straight but needed some love AE86, sold it for $1500... thought I was a winner.

3 or 4 maybe, all weird imports. One looked particularly sketchy. You could throw E81 in the NZTA register, wont be hard to work out due to the low numbers and all are LCI and later (2007).

An example, its a nice one, but - https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-spottedykywt/bmw-130i-le-spotted/47725? - LEs are actually more common than Msports in UK Msports start at for 5kish GBP, or 10k NZD, for a tatty one.

Pricing is weird in NZ, we are in a jap import fueled bubble. We are at roughly 50% the price of the average 130 world wide.... With the rate they end up the wreckers due the current price point and the unwashed masses that buy them, the bubble will burst soon when suddenly everyone realizes there are none left. Reality is they are a rare car internationally. Same thing goes for 135s/335s etc, people are struggling to give them away at the moment. MUCH higher production numbers than 130s.. its probably due to reliability/age of them now.

One of the 12.... Cheap for a manual as well... Its about 90 cars up the production line than mine. Someone nab it https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/130i/listing/4360704111?bof=r7KUqi1F

Rego rings a bell, wasnt it a forum members? Parking brake is a simple system, its cables and drums inside the rear disk, not a major no matter whats gone wrong (probably a switch) That sub makes me sad

I think hes about 6 years old.

Just the N46s, complete turd. Its honestly not worth rebuilding or repairing, get a wreckered engine or swap a proper engine in and enjoy the benefits of it.
-
Even the separate CCV system in the silver tops is a pig of a thing to replace... when they work they work...
-
PDR done by Anton at http://www.mobilecarspecialists.com/ did a really good job, took out everything... I'm picky as sh*t and covered it in little bits of tape (including some dents that were microns deep) and he found and fixed even more.
-
Did the engine get swapped with the trans? Good luck, looks like a nice one.

That poor thing has seen some sh*t... at least its cheap. Exhaust butchery, aftermarket ebay headlights... at least its cheap, probably all fixable with TLC
-
Possibly, flick up a link, where in Auckland is it?
-
Washed pre its final inspection and getting it cert plate stuck on... then can get back to smashing the final few k's at it before the new lump goes in, refuse to pull it before it has 300,000 on the clock

Required: Pre-LCI 320i workshop manual

Sounds like you are after an Haynes manual or similar, those linked are literally the workshop manuals BMW use. BMW workshops dont rebuild engines, particularly not N46s. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/accessories/listing/4276761575?bof=kbGDaPjS -
