Looking to expand fm radio frequency from Japanese to NZ
Jacko replied to Irobin's topic in New Member Introductions
if you plan on keeping it, and spannering yourself, bite the bullet and get Bimmergeeks Protools and an adapter... its pretty much mandatory if you DIY (Does all the NCS/ISTA etc stuff with less faff and in a solid Android GUI). I switched a mates F20 to NZ stations last week, took like a minute -
A lot of back and forth and its booked into Giltrap to confirm the warranty is applicable (it is...)

Mechanic just called, water pump is leaking. Was replaced by the dealer 2021, lets see how good Gazely Skoda in Wellington are at customer service...
-
Dropped it in at SB European on Monday, the owner was very friendly/knowledgeable and workshop was nice and clean.... pick it up tomorrow. Fingers crossed, but so far so good.

The fact there is enough of a market for someone to make this, let alone how insanely heinous it is, makes me worry about the future of the human race.

Typo 245s, It took a bit of discussion that to meet their dreamt up requirements would require a 125 width tyre... This is the issue it nearly failed on, and would have required mud gaurds to be installed to pass. Who trains these people?
-
Yeah, not sure, keep going but have a laugh about it is the plan. In my case with the modified suspension its an alignment report (within -1.5 /+0.5 camber of stock), certification reports (conforming to the NZ regs on which reports are acceptable) for the seats and rails (stressed seats, so seat belts mounted to rails), brakes are easy mine are bolt on and arguably "stock" (certifier goes and takes it for repeat multiple high speed stops, can confirm it has f**ken good brakes)... and then it needs a WOF within 28 days, which is should fail, and then pass once certed. Technically I also needed an auto sparky report on disabling the airbags in a non-sh*t way, but since I just coded them out certifier is happy.
-
In truth, they had to get the lead wof guy out to discuss my car, they were concerned about the larger tyres (they're 235 40 18s, narrower than "stock" 255s...) needing mud guards at the rear, as although well within the arch (ET38, not exactly "aggressive" fitment.. it fits!) the curvature of the rear bumper could mean that they flick stones at traffic behind me... I sound like I'm making this stuff up Whole thing is f**ken farcical...

I dunno if this is a rant or a win.. But as part of the LVV cert process on 130 was supposed to fail a WOF... and it just passed VTNZ one Airbags are for pussies.

Can anyone recommend a VW/Skoda mechanic in south ish Auckland? Want to get the timing chain and tensioners done. Eurosurgeon? SB European? Not being a hack and backing up their workmanship are primary goals

LCI 130 auto for sale on faceballs, looks pretty average but has BMW P wheels/front/intake/muffler(?) Nearly worth buying to pull the shiney bits off.

N52 valve cover bolts coming loose all on their own
Jacko replied to Spinner99's topic in Maintenance
Really common, sump bolts do similar. If they're not winding out, they're snapping... It seems to be front right bolts that wind out first, why.. dunno. blue loctite should be fine. FWIW I havent had an oil leak on my N52 for 100,000km after using gasket rtv on new gaskets rather than just putting them in dry/stock. -
Think I saw you on Mill Rd about same time
-
Thats bizarre, must be fluke of the wiring length. Better option would be just coding it for NZ
-
Still yet to hit the 300,000km mark... blame weather and work... so engine etc/etc/etc/etc still sitting in workshop Took it out for a blat though, to remind myself why I still have it, fecking awesome fun on an empty B road.
-
Completely agree, if BMW had set them up like B1 package from the factory 130i's would have cult status. I used to drive Auckland-Raglan return daily in the B1 130, its a good road for it

I saw a 130i on faceballs with 300,000 miles... never had the engine opened. GLWS, thats dirt cheap... I want the wheels.

Have HEL ones on mine, they're nicely made.

Waterpump and thermostats are $700ish in a kit, there is no HPFP.
