  1. it goes like a cut cat , pulls away easily from std e28 m5 e24 m6 and e36 m3 etc and that was before some of the engine work and the millar maf and remap etc so i dont think it has that problem. have asked gavin what other cars get on his dyno e30 325i 90-100rkw my e36 325i & 328i both at 112rwkw std e28 m535i 635csi 110-120rwkw (218hp flywheel) std e36 m3 about 160rwkw std e34 540i about 150-160rwkw etc my e34 544i 4.4L after remap 192rwkw std e34 3.6L m5 about 180rwkw (315hp at the flywheel) 3.2L M3 ABOUT 190KW+ so i think its on the right track , its just that its been held back a bit (at the top end of the revs) by a 20 year old exhaust system from a fairly std e28 528i 535i etc thanks brent
  2. finally completed my engine rebuild and tunning etc in my E28 M535i fitted with a M88 engine thats been bored out ,stroked and hot cams ,HC pistons etc etc 3.65L . have had it all retuned on a rolling dyno etc also have fitted a 4" millar maf unit to it. manage to get about 30kw (40hp) more at the wheels than a std m5 engine puts out see build project here. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=31734 i am just wonder what rear mufflers are around that fit in the back of the e28 as the the turner guy (and exhaust guy) both think the current exhaust system is a bit restrictive , power comes up nice and strong to 5300rpm then pretty much holds that untill 7000rpm we think with all the mods etc it should still keep climbing upwards to say about 6500rpm etc. whats around that has a twin in twin out type that can fit into the rear of the e28. was looking at replacing the front pipe section with larger pipes 2-2.5" and 2 coby(hot dog ) type mufflers then to a new back box with larger inlets and outlets . exhaust shop guy says he can do a Y conector then go into a large single inlet and out let type 3"?? . but i am not sure about that , might make it a bit loud and not look quite right etc. the rear muffler thats in there now has twin 45-50mm inlets and outlets and about 150-160mm diameter but theres not alot more room to go in width in the back of the e28 only about 220mm etc current exhaust setup have seen mufflers like these here in NZ http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=449610295 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=449466620 they are about 204mm wide so not alot of clearance to the sides any info or thoughts would be great thanks brent

    1983 E28 528i

how could you. we need it to replace the e23 730i paddock hack as marty wont spend any money on it and it needs new shocks , exhaust , throttle cable , seats , tyres , doors , bumpers , grills , fuel tank etc.
  15. my thoughts too about gavin.i think he can even tune the std bosch ecu to work with turbo's etc. dont waste your money yet on after market ecu's etc. give gavin a call. might just need bigger injectors and fuel pump and some sort of rising rate fuel pressure reg etc. only thing the e34 535i ecu doesn't allow for is knock sensors , but then you could use a m50b25 non vanos loom and tun ethat to suit with the seperate coils and delete the afm and tune off the throttle postion switch. also not sure about drury guys either?? had a mate with a car in there with webber cards ,came out running like $hit , but maybe they are better when tunning with the after market ecu's they sell them selves like most of these guys are.

  18. finally tuned the e28 m5 engine . got pretty good results. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....45&start=45
  19. 1) the idle is really jumpy once warm so wondering its afm or icv make sure there are no vac leaks , biggest thing to cause rough running etc. 2) my viscous fan nicks my radiator. ive heard you ca either swap for a e30 pre facelift radiator or get a electric fan system. what one do you guys reccomend? or do you have any any options? does your car have a factory aux fan on the front for air con etc if it does just use that , replace the fan temp sensor in the radiator for a lower temp setting type like from a e36 318ti . if it doesn't have AUX fan then get one from a e34 etc or even a e30 one might do and switch it using the factory bmw parts like i mentioned above
  20. quick update its done!!!! taken a while to sort it out . but finally i can drive the car propely went to gavin's (hi-velocity) today. gavin did his magic , remapped the ecu with the new millar maf unit fitted. have had to do a bit of a overhaul on the fuel system 2 new fuel pumps, new filter , proper fuel reg fitted , got rid of the fuel dampers in the fuel lines near the engine. had all the injectors cleaned , descaled etc so all 100%. fitted a metal mesh just before the MAF unit to straighten out the air. goes really well now , sounds pretty neat. power goes flat at the top but we think maybe the exhaust is strangling it a bit. maybe in the future i might look into sorting that out. make about the same power as my 4.4L v8 but not quite the torque. enjoy the video.
  21. take it to a garage with scanner or swap it out for another one.i have one. in papakura 021433600
  22. temp sensor is loated on the inlet side of the head just behind oil filter housing. no afm has to be from same type , so if its a m50b25 vanos then you need one of those types , they are a common one to fail. do you run the factory air filter or some sort of pod or k&n filter , did you oil the filter?? the oil will ruin the afm sensor
  23. air flow meter or engine temp sensor
