hhhmmmmight be hard to find one with low k's like that one are you sure its a cluster problem?? maybe just test with another one. or use parts from another one to fix yours etc

ok that should have the later type clusterwhats the millage of it ??

what year is your 535i , as there are 2 types , early one you can swap the millage plug over , later type millage stays in the cluster

yea good bang for ya buckapprox $2k for an engine like this. i doubt you couldn't build an 4 or 6cyl engine with this much power or torque for that sort of money.

sounds a bit like the viscous fan clutch is had it . best to get it checked straight away, you dont want to be replacing an engine.

what colour smoke?? black smoke is fuel , white smoke is oil could be valve guides worn allowing oil to drain into the cylinders and fowling the spark plugs. black smoke , could be cold start injector (or normal injectors) leaking excessive fuel into the intake system and wetting the plugs.

one thing i noticed working in the wreckers is that not many of the cars coming in damaged have 4 good tyres on them. most seam to have very bald tyres , or a mix of good and bad , brands or levels of tread etc. so it pays to have good tyres. on one of my cars i have had some cheap rubbish tyres (kingstar) and in the wet it will slide all over the place(i am changing them soon) and on another one of my cars i have goodyear eagle F1's and the difference is huge in the levels of grip in the wet etc and the car doesn't even have very good suspension
