    Overheating E39

most likly thermostat or water pump,. also check your fan is working properly and no leaks in the coolant system
  14. had the ecu remapped by gavin at hi-velocity today in my e34 530i with M62B44 4.4L v8 and 5spd see here for details http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....=29108&st=0 got pretty good results i think . 490Nm and 190.6kw at the wheels. maybe more there if i open up the rear of exhaust system. good torque from 2000rpm . started off with 183kw and 480nm before tunning it std e34 540i are about 150-160rwkw std e39 540i are about 160-170rwkw std e39 m5 225kw on the same dyno
  15. correct , wont work , different electical plug ,shifter cable set up , electrics and valve body inside etc . maybe you could use some of the mechcanical parts from the later type to fix yours??? you will have to get one from a e34 540i or e32 740i to be able to just bolt in
  16. e90 m3 split in half in wellington (usa) http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/traffic/...mw-1205635.html
  17. old age , plastic goes off. or maybe water pump or thermostat failure
  18. airbags should all work fine . most later e36 models have side impact bars (93/94 onwards) and the very last of the e36 models had side airbags 97/99 etc
  19. had the ecu remapped by gavin at hi-velocity today got pretty good results .
  20. remapped the ecu on the e34 544i see here http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....15&start=15
  21. yup about normal .also the dual mass orginals crap out any way my 544i spins up real quick
  22. ya just missed this nice one http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-346735402.htm maybe go for this one . http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-349865052.htm faster ,lighter and more economical
  23. just make sure the coolant system is all newish and upto date . and some electrics will fail , winodw regs , air bag sensors , abs brains and sensors , heater fan resistors , plastic trims on the seats break , generally all the plastic trims/buttons are pretty weak and often break all the suspension and steering bushes crap out pretty quickly. shocks ,dull headlight lenses, thin easy to crack plastics on the bumpers other than that not a bad car generally parts will cost you abit more and yes the later vanos ones probably a little harder to modify and a few more electrical problems etc and the coolant system runs at a higher temp/pressure so more prone to fail e34 probably a little dated now and plenty of rough sub $1k 525i's driving around . but got voted most reliable bmw ever made , last model of bmw made before the accountants came in and said you building too much quality in your cars and not enough profit they dont really rust (mostly galvanised bodies) they do pretty well in crashes , but also have pretty good handling and brakes to keep you out of crashes etc
