  1. Just starting some inquiries but has anyone fitted a towbar to an X5 here here before? Have been quoted $489+GST for the towbar & wasn't sure if there was anything else that needed to be done to the vehicles computer?
  2. I think you get raped with taxes & more if you havn't owned the vehicle longer than 12 months. We shipped a Celica convertible over to Melbourne & the taxes were huge, but the end result that 12k car here was 25k over there.

    Slight noise

Thanks Quail would love to hear more responses.
  4. Here it is if it hasn't been posted. http://www.bmw-z1.com/ Nearer the bottom of the page there is a VIN section where you can enter in the last 7 digits of the VIN number & it brings up your rides info.

    Slight noise

This is only audible @ idle RPM - but there is s slight knock & I've been told its coming from the Vanos. The truck is going in next week to have the CAM sensor replaced as it's apparently faulty. The mechanic told me that to remove the noise would require a new cam/head which is stupid, it's not a bad noise, & I'm also told its very common with VANOS engines & the V8's, however there's apparently a product called mbl8 or something? that would perhaps remove the noise? Or motorup? Has anyone been down these tracks before?
  6. When changing channels I noticed it goes up to AV on the screens display. Does anyone know where the AV inputs are for the TV unit??? It's an E53 BMW X5 Any help much appreciated as always.
  7. I used to have a BA XR6 Failcon - was a good car to look at but at only 30km mine had a world of issues to name a few, brakes, power steering e.t.c. e.t.c.... I used to frequent http://www.fordforums.com.au/ to ask my questions on their forums.
  8. I'm in Queenstown next weekend & will arrange to look at the car personally. Seems too good to be true? What is it actually worth?
  9. Whats it worth? It may have issues is the thing, however it did get a fresh WOF today...
  10. It's bloody tempting at that price. I'm in Queenstown on a booze trip in the X5 next weekend if you wanted me to take a look? I doubt it will be there still to be honest, just checked & it got a new WOF today.
  11. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-173575286.htm Havn't seen one of these E3's in yonks - its quite cheap at 2.5k? Quite powerful @ 150kw for back then - top speed of 211kph not bad for the day either & 0-100 in 7.8seconds
  12. Not only that, it would fail a WOF, anything outside the guards fail or it needs flares fitted & I think all that has to be Low Volume certed.
  13. I wouldn't be willing to spend any major coin on radar detectors at the moment with the government thinking of or actually doing (not sure how far they have gotten with this yet) of making Radar detectors illegal. I remember hearing about it from several people and found an article about it on the net here: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story....3863&pnum=0 I use just a standard Uniden unit, has worked a treat (about 2 years old) & has saved me some coins
  14. Impressive Jochen, very impressive
  15. Think I've seen that car before. The wheels that were on it were already the goods! Welcome aboard.
  16. Thanks Nick. Has 2001 on the registration? Just the way they do it I suppose. Cheers.
  17. Hi Grant, it is an 01 but not sure pre the build date you need. Last 7 digits are: LH61757 Hope this helps???
  18. Cool so its $1000 for the nav unit & the DVD?
  19. Cheers, have included a few pics if it makes things any easyer.
  20. Thanks Grant, still considering things, but will most likely take the $1000 option at this stage. Sorry if it sounds like I'm going behind your back but I did put two and two together with your username on TM and here. Pays to be proactive with these things & do the research Cheers.
  21. You'd be stoked because I priced up a tow bar for my old E60 and it was just over 2grand! Most of the money is in the little unit they have to fit so it doesn't disturb the DSC My E60 had a cover in the middle of the rear bumper & it attached behind there somehow. It may require q quick call to the BMW dealership & surely someone would be able to show you.

    The new toy

Ouch, a Challenger? How many times was it at the repair shop lol? In sport mode on the way to Akaroa I had the X5's wheels screaching in the WET!!! & it lifted the consumption up to 17l/100km but given that I was feeding it to it, its not a bad figure. Definetley a better product BMW vs Mitsubishi.

    The new toy

In the X5 version there's power all the way from 1000rpm till the red line, brilliant engine & I averaged without a word of a lie, 11.6l / 100km all the way back!
  24. Hahahahahaaha!! Solid gold! From the pics mate, it looks ratshit & would run a mile.

    The new toy

Magic, a big fan of the 540's I just came back from Auckland picking up my BMW aswell, flew up Friday morning, caught the ferry at 7:30pm that night, then stayed in Blenheim, drove thru to Akaroa & stayed there the night, had a few traditional beers & home early this afternoon. I'm fairly sure it has the same engine as my X5 aswell, is it the 4.4 ? Stats are fairly impressive for them too: 213kw & 419nm, X5 is similar but with 440nm & 0-100 in 7.5 seconds slightly slower than the X5 for some reason. Enjoy, a very nice unit you've got yourself!
