  1. Welcome buddy, Ive no doubt seen you around before among many other E30's on the shore, I'll wave out next time
  2. I got these same ones, only my silver fern was changed for the BMW logo the same as the ones you get at a BMW dealer. I doubt you'd have any problems, Ive been through a few checkpoints and the occasional parking warden yell at me but no mention of the legality of the plates. Looks mint, and much better than spending like $400 or $600 on 'proper' NZ euro plates huh?!
  3. My two all time favourite 80' songs would have to be Dragon - Rain Jan Hammer - Crockets Theme But then theres lots more like Phil Collins - Another day in paradise. And pretty much every other song he made Flock of Seagulls - I ran Aha - Take on me Cameo - Word up David Bowie - China Girl Enya - Sail Away (Reminds me of dinner parties when I was little) Toto - Africa Frankie goes to Hollywood - Relax Billy Idol - White Wedding The Scarface theme song, and every other song in that movie Lionel Richie - Dancing on the ceiling Cars - whos going to drive you home

    RED HOT MERC

I like the spoiler, if only it was bigger
  5. Ive had mine since march and never had one problem, except 3 days ago i left my lights on a needed a jump start and thats it. Depends on how well its been looked after but if you maintain it well and service it regularly it shouldnt cause you much grief at all. Parts are dirt cheap aswell
  6. I think if you like the 320i and you are happy with it and it all checks out mechanically then go for it! It will be a lot better than a lot of japanese equivilents of the same ages. I find through experience that a auto 320 uses about the same amount of gas a a auto 325. So if you are anal about how fast you car is/ look how cool I am in my fast car perhaps neither a auto 320 or 325 would suit. But if you want a nice solid cruiser with a sufficient amout of power around town then get that 320 or even a 325 if you find one you like. Thats my input anyway
  7. So, When I got my car no service lights lit up. It didnt bother me at all until I was curious why they didnt. So I took out the gauge cluster and had a look and saw there was no LED light board where it should be. I sourced the right part eventually that fitted (There are two different kinds that I know of) I put it back in a then found it still didnt work. I am now on a mission to make them work. Looking at my Si battery board the batteries have a lot of white powdery build up on the ends and by looking at the circut board it looks like there has been battery acid leaking over it. What I am wanting to know is if it is a case of just gettng a new Si board that works could cure the service lights? Becasue as far as I know the Si board batteriespower most of the things on the dash and they all work fine except for the fuel gauge which is intermittent with showing me false readings, usually saying the tank is full and getting my hopes up for a second until I remember. So if anyone knows if changing the battery board will solve my problems or if you have a Si board that fits that I can buy from you let me know!! My gauses are Motometer as apposed to VDO which I belive have different pin connections as the VDO pin connection for the Si borad is like this at the back | | | | | - | | | | | | | | | | | | | And the motometer is roughly like this: | | | | | - - - - - -| | | | | | | | Or perhaps it would just be easier to get a whole new gauge cluster as long as I can change the odometer reading to match what it actually is already
  8. Wouldnt have a clue aye, They are quite desirable though so Ive heard. So comming across one might bea bit of a rarity. JJS- Yeah going to try those kinda places, I'll ask at work tommorow though mostly just out of pure curiousity.. Brand new OEM deck would be cool
  9. Yeah i belive that can be put into a E30 Im pretty sure ive seen it done, quite easy I'd imagine as it is only a pretty basic headunit. Ive been trying to get hold of one like this... Pioneer KE83 zbm with CD changer or perhaps a E36 factory head unit. The Pioneer I belive came stock in E30's '89 - '92

    E30 iS Lip

    I'd buy one aswell, $100 - $150?
  11. Having a NZ new car is somewhat important to me, esspecially if its a newish car. Ive had a Singaporean import 320i and needless to say nothing that was electronic worked, only intermitently haha. Now my 325i is a South African and doesnt have any problems what so ever, except for things that tend to stop working over time like my aerial and one of my back windows, easily fixed mind you. If and when I do start looking at upgrading to a E36 then I would be more inclined to search for a NZ new example over a import. mostly due to wanting history as I can very easily go to a car yard or off trade me and buy a fresh FL E36 from japan but I'd guarantee there would be no history. So can sometimes make it hard to know what work has been done in the past and what will be need to be replaced withen the next year of ownership. In saying that though I don't find anything wrong with owning a Jap import just as long as I have had a professional to check it out and check out things you don't normally check out when doing a backyard sale. The car would have to be stripped of all signs of it being a import though but thats just me But other than that I thnk it comes down to the condition of the car itself not the genral consensis of which country looks after thier cars the best. But if knowing your car is NZ new helps you sleep at night then by all means go for it, but it just doesnt mean ALL NZ new cars are good, a lot of imports are good if not sometimes better, just not singapore. Cheers
  12. That car is all class! good work buddy.
  13. I took my girlfriend to look at renting an apartment at Zest. We put our head in the door of the apartment laughed and left. They are wickedly small. you could never have more than 3 people in a one time haha. Not cool!
  14. I would never in my life rely on Aucklands public transport as mean to get to and from work, it is an absolute joke. as most people know! haha. Back before I had my car in last summer uni holidays I'd walk 7km each way to work and bac, thats how much its not worth using.. I'd say get somewhere close enough so you can walk if you have to.
  15. I would recomend Parnell, its really close to the CBD and is a resonably safe suburb and has a lot of apartments and town houses. I wouldnt so much recomend living in the CBD itself unless you spend heaps on a big apartment. A friend of mine live in one of the hotels in the CBD and its a nightmere just to get out of the carpark and means genrally most people wont want to visit you because of no visitor parking. Ponsonby is okay I suppose, you will end up in a damp house paying way too much. Newton is quite good these days for apartments. But personally I'd go for Parnell.

    Left vs Right

    deffinatly clock-wise
  17. How much you wanna sell it for Ollimoto?
  18. Getting kind of sick of my head unit now and the fact it has too many colours in the display (Red, white, blue) So thinking of just getting a orignal E30 head unit with CD stacker for the boot. I dont know if facelifts came with different head units to pre fl but I'd perfer one that would be the same as what would have orignally been in my car. It would obviously need its code thing so I can use it and genral stuff I need to make it work. So if you have what im after or know anyone that does let me know, and I will be selling my Blaupunkt one once I get its replacement
  19. What are you getting? You have a E28 right??
  20. It only $400 just buy them. Use them for a bit and if you dont like them sell them on
  21. I used 3m double sided foam tape. I wouldnt worry about your plate comming off... because when it came time for me to take my plate off so I could put my euro filler on, I had a real hard time trying to get the plate off. It came off in the end but the plate was just about bent in half and twisted and the tape also ripped off some paint. I proberbly could have being a bit my gentle used some meths or someting but I got frustrated and impatient.
