Shimmys. Erratic/rough idle usually means intake manifold gaskets OBC warnings referring to rear light clusters are usually a broken loom in the boot Make sure trans is shifting smoothly. Drive it when its cold and listen for a whine. Check for stalling when N selected etc. Look for evidence of coolant leaks in the engine bay. Not much else goes wrong with these cars. Be aware that $5800 is optimistic.

Yeah i wouldnt bother. For example i recently offloaded a mint 540 with a bung trans for playmoney. Was ripe for a 6 speed swap and could easily be done for quite a bit less than the buy now on that. M60 is a fantastic engine too.

haha, yep thats me. Except i dont sit at 103, I usually give it a nudge up to 120 or so and then when i'm past the queue, move left and drop back to 110. I also won't tailgate until the car in front has a clear space on the left to move into. Then i'm all over 'em. I do the best i can to not hold up traffic thats moving faster than me, which is why i dont like being tailgated, but am happy to hypocritically tailgate myself.

I'm with Oli. But then we're both in Wellington where it seems that any lane is an acceptable lane to do a consistent 20km/h under the speed limit. Also, Engage ABS works well for tailgaters.

had a similar issue with my old 540 and it turned out to be the crank sensor. there's a way of measuring it with a multimeter, but i forget what it is.

Basic Question - Will a 5HP30 from either an E32 or M60 powered E38 work when mated to an M60 in a E34? I realise that physically they should be teh same, but is there any electronic issues to think about?
