  1. Don't you just keep the button pushed on each setting to reset it?
  2. Toyota can't be too far behind if it does get opened up.... They are already in Nascar. Can't say I am a fan of the one-off prototype (like F1) racing. I think the appeal of V8 Supercars is that they aren't that far evolved/devolved (depending on your point of view) from everyday vehicles - so a V8 M3 in the mix would be sweet. I do think it needs to be modernised and more manufacturers involved - so good on them for finally recognising this. But more than anything else it needs to be close racing based on real production vehicles! That 1987 video of Peter Brock (VK Commodore) and Jim Richards (JPS M3) doing lap after lap door handle to door handle was brilliant. As is the 80s footage from Bathurst with Falcons, Commodores, Camaros, Jags etc. Group A anyone?
  3. 993 first, 964 a close second then daylight back to the Cossie (bet it is still a caged animal to drive although it does look pretty dated aesthetically now). The photos of the Nissan say it all for me - the first 10 are of Aeroquip fittings and braided lines. It isn't until you get to #11 before you see how gouge-my-eyes-out-with-a-fork ugly the car actually is. Nice build no doubt and 900hp is fearsome, but I can't understand the logic of doing it to one of those! There can't be many people out there prepared to part with $85k for something like that - especially at the moment. My 2c.
  4. Wow - that was quite the death rattle!
  5. Never had to do it myself, but I think it requires a dealer (or Glenn) to order them from Germany using your chassis number. Think they were in the $3-400 mark depending on the type of key - which might make an insurance claim worth while. Glenn is the man to confirm and will no doubt be along shortly...
  6. Picked my up DICE off Trademe for 75 notes. There is a NZ dealer for Dension products that I did come across a while back.

    Lemon or not.

I read the other day that they have already signed with Vodafone as a network provider.
  8. I'll take 50 of what ever it is they're selling.

Planning a soul destroying hangover after the beer festival.

    Big cojones?

Faster than I'd like to go with my nose an inch off the ice... I initially thought the video had been sped up!
  11. I'll have a piece of that action - I too am missing the matching 17" spare.... Must be straight, dent and kerb free (and in Auckland). Not so worried about the tyre as I have a good spare tyre.
  12. Are there too many X chromosomes in the water down there?? Either way - glad I'm in the 09. I still love 944's!
  13. I'd have a modern european turbo diesel over the petrol equivalent any day.
  14. No cause for concern in itself - BMW have an assembly plant in Spartanburg (South Carolina). All of the X5's come from there. I am surprised that they are doing this model there though - maybe the US is the biggest market for this version.
  15. I too have been thinking about doing this (be nice to get hold of a demolished Keith Black or Donovan but they are scarce in NZ). That, or building a desk from an old DC3 wingtip / elevator. No action yet as I think it will probably end in divorce...
  16. Hiluxes tend to hold their value much better - especially turbo diesels (as you have already worked out). A mate tells me his Mazda BT50 diesel goes very well (from memory the Mazda version has a better interior spec over the Ford - could be wrong on this though) and have also heard good things about the Rodeo diesel as well.
  17. First thing that came to mind was drug dealer (before reading the other comments I might add). Which is great if you are in that line of business....

    E46 Wagon

Yes they do come in manual, but are rare as rocking horse sh*t in this country unfortunately. While an auto to manual conversion is possible in theory, it would be horrifically expensive and is a very complex job due to the electronics. It would be easier/cheaper to find a manual to start with - even if you had to pay a little more for it. Good luck with the search.
  19. From memory, mine was about $270 installed at BM Workshop (incl. about 30 mins or so labour, and a car wash) - so a relatively simple install if you know what you are doing and have the tools. And yes, they did have to reset the fault code on my 330.
  20. 1st Mid 90's Nissan Vanette. So light it even made the fleet of Mitsi L300 vans feel solid and planted. Was down right dangerous to drive. Refused to drive them after some students tried to level a tree with one and damn near killed them. 2nd 2004 Buick Century. Everything thats bad about GM North America - sh*t build quality, sh*t handling, uncomfortable interior, all the performance of dead roadkill, and looked like it had been delivered via the local gun range. Absolutely no redeeming features except that it was better than walking from LAX to San Diego... Avis said that "as a frequent flyer, we're upgrading you" from the Corolla or Cavalier or similar I had booked. Wish I had been downgraded to the Geo Metro.... 3rd 197x Mk2 Escort Estate. Fantastic handling (for a shitbox) on right hand corners. Left hand corners on the other hand were much more interesting from a "living on the edge" point of view. Gutless, noisy, wildly loose steering, unreliable, leaky, thirsty, and you needed a straw to put any gas into it (such a sh*t design that it refused fuel unless fed very very slowly). And because I can: 4th 2001 Renault Clio. For a car with less than 20,000 km on the clock it felt like the transmission was about to fall out. Funnily enough another Avis rental, and was much more disappointing than the Fiat Punto/Brava I normally had (which is saying something). 5th 1994 Toyota Corolla (yet another Avis rental). Was reliable enough etc, but was unable to pull a hack on the start line at Bathurst despite numerous attempts. Gutted. Q: What's the difference between a 4x4 and a rental? A: There are some places you just can't take a 4x4. And I seem to have rented them all. Moral of the story: Never, ever buy an ex-rental car.... 6th 1998 Suzuki TL1000. Technically not a car, but certainly had the weight of one. Very top heavy, and a real stretch even for me (6'2") to ride. Nasty reputation for chewing riders up on fast undulating roads too.
  21. You need to know what plastic is to get an appropriate adhesive - are there any markings on it? Something like >PA GF30< or >ABS<? Some plastics react badly (as in stress crack), and some won't stick at all (like some nylons)...

    E46 330i manual

Could be a message in there somewhere - "Pay your bills or next time its kneecaps" maybe?
