  1. If I'm reading the graph right 240 @ 2500rpm,260 & 4000
  2. Yeah,Gavin made the point that with the correct tune there is little or no restriction in the factory inlet system with an aftermarket filter like K & N. My tech told me of a similar example 0f a power increase after removing the pod from a clients car & replacing with factory. By the way Kerry, thanks for your recommendation of the headers-got me motivated to do it.
  3. NO -more power, heavier foot Got 9.4k/l from Ak to Hastings & it was a fairly fast run. Thats only slightly better than my e39 540 ( 10.1 for the same trip)
  4. Thanks Luke-thats interesting-that shows stock at 85rwkw & 95 after the alpina mods. OK so heres something else to ponder. I talked to Gavin about fitting a Pod & cold air box & he explained (in technical terms that I didnt really understand lol) that given the degree of tune there was no benefit to be gained. In fact he was of the opinion that it could possibly have a detrimental effect. Your thoughts?
  5. Talking to my tech today who did the header install & he is of the opinion that our estimated 95 rwkw is optimistic for a stock motor. Does anyone have any definitive numbers on this?
  6. Yeah mate I'll be there.Put some in the fridge lol.On a side note I just missed you at Garys today-that black e36 evo m3 is niiiiice. Did you see the Escort Cosworth? I'd kill for that-hottest one I've ever seen.
  7. Thanks mate & thanks too for your help today-great meeting you. The drive home was a blast & no,its mech day tomorrow. Taking the day off to recover from a big week( & Brian,Cosmos' ravages lol.
  8. Would look mean Nick-definitely do it. Then sell it & get that e30 you reeaally want.
  9. I think its a pretty standard fee so I'm sure he wont mind me quoting it here-$800+gst which looks like cheap HP to me.
  10. ^^^^^ Mark, its an estimated 95 kw stock Oops sorry guys my bad-just realised my miskey-have edited original post.
  11. So yesterday schnizzle got its birthday present courtesy of Gavin at Remember this is a totally stock 325 engine. We had already fitted Wayneys headers so Gavin estimated that a stock, good condition 325 would be producing 95rwkw. So heres the first test run with headers 102kw And here is the result after Gavin had worked his magic (for 4 hours). At one point he had it up to just over 110kw but felt it might be a little fragile so backed it off a little. 108.7kw 145.7HP Total Gain=13.7kw. Conclusions: I was lucky in that I had to drive back to Hastings today so got to give it a severe thrashing & check out the performance differences. The most obvious change is in the amount of torque it now produces right across the board-it just pulls (and keeps pulling)like a team of schoolboys haha. Secondly the driveability is completely different-the power comes on much more smoothly right across the rev range & keeps going right up to the rev limiter. Probably very little difference in off the mark acceleration-but once you hit 3500-4000 revs it just winds up. So,was it worth it? You bet your sweet life it was-every penny of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am seriously impressed-thanks to Gavin & Wayne.
  12. Good to see this back Andrew. I'll follow with great interest

  14. #1 Check with your insurance company #2 Accompany them #3 Dont let them near it if you arent convinced they have got the cash #4 Hold their carkeys-no help if theyre in a shitter tho but then #3 wouldve kicked in. I suspect the 'purchaser' is not liable for damage on a test drive.

  17. I was concerned that the motivation for starting this thread may have backfired And I think it nearly did .......but fortunately wise heads have prevailed & I understand that,as I hoped, some good has come from it.

  19. Nick, you have summed it up perfectly-thank you.
  20. And that gentlemen is how it should be done
  21. Is 150k getting up there in terms of maintainence costs do you think. I'm picking 27k ish would buy it.
  22. Hey Brooke, r3v & the bimmerfest e30 forum do have a lot of good info-if you dont mind wading thro the sh*t to find it. And I dont think we want that here. Personally I think the mods here are pretty relaxed
  23. And actually you'd be wrong -they're just the most vocal-not that theres anything wrong with that.
  24. Its the old 'it takes 2 to tango' story. Someone makes a comment & the op bites back. With just a little patience & thought on both sides these conflicts wouldnt happen. And if any of this results in Glenn leaving I will personally send my boys round to throttle you. EDIT; And you know the saddest thing? I'll bet if you all met & had a beer you'd find that you are all good people.
