He would have to pay me to test drive it.

Does that violate any terms and conditions? I so want to click report. Even just report it for sh*t spelling and grammar!

As mentioned, a modern car has knock sensors and other engine lifesavers to prevent any major damage occurring, however they will make it a pig to drive on 91. If it recommends 95 it is for a good reason, however going to a higher octane than recommended will provide very little, if any gain as the higher octane fuels actually burn slower (and more controlled). So just run it on what its designed/tuned for and you'll be much happier!

Car has been valued at $3k with the wheels, however the valuation didnt specify the value of the wheels seperate to the value of the car so I'm still being sent running in circles. Complete PITA to be honest, and I am really dissapointed in both the insurance companies I have spoken to for making my life so difficult, rather than trying to sell their product to me. Their customer service is a load of bollocks.

In a car which doesnt adjust the timing to stop pinging on low octane fuel, yeah it'd probably be worse than diesel. I'd imagine the diesel would simply not ignite? But I may be wrong, whereas the low octane fuel would combust unexpectedly and violently, melting your pistons and making a right mess I lol'd.

Lucky it was a fairly modern engine with a reasonably smart computer, else you could've been looking at some pricy bills for a new engine there...

Also.. steering wheel won't come with horn ring, so hope you have one? Cos i needed the horn ring for the bosskit on the racecar. Otherwise its in pretty mint condition lol.

Works for me. Rock round whenever or gimme a text. Theyre all yours for whatever you think theyre worth..

Can do e30 steering wheel, as soon as i put my tech 1 on mine. Also may be persuaded to part with rocker cover on my spares engine. (Or take the whole bloody engine!!)

He got accused of having no life, so he proved that he does indeed have a life.

Cheers Jono, Will hopefully manage to get it all sorted in time.

Ok. Apparently NAC DOES NOT do agreed value, and cannot insure a car worth less than $3k for full insurance. Oh, and to prove it's worth more than $3k it needs a valuation. Im really disliking insurance companies at the moment. Especially after spending over $3.5k with NAC in recent years.

Would a shorter ratio diff fix that?

Someone needs to find him the "many uses of the word piss" ad.

Bob's your uncle is just basically like saying "it's that easy" or "just like that etc". For example, when giving instructions. Take SH1 for 400kms, turn left, and bobs your uncle.

I'd look at who your talking to before you go making bold, grossly untrue statements about their priorities.

I can vouch for that. Some mates, some beer, and one day to do it in. Your set. Would also recommend thinking about doing the clutch while your in there. Wish I did haha.

So as indecisive as I am (and to think i keep giving Nathan sh*t for always changing his mind), I have decided yet again to keep her. What can I say, I'm in love New plan is to keep it in a good, running condition with rego on hold etc and look at bringing it back to street legal once i have a good job and am earning heaps. Meanwhile I am hoping to get it well sorted and somehow make the April 17th Intermarque sprints as a 21st birthday celebration. Screw 21 shots, I want to do 21 laps! So there will be a bit of a determined slog on to get up the funds, and to get things done and organised. Things to do: Re-new BMWCC membership Re-new clubsport licence Replace left front wheel bearing. (Any advice where to get good, cheap alternatives to the pricy BMW original part? As the current one is a 9 month old aftermarket one and is rooted already.) Tidy up as much as I can for scrutineering Arrange transport to said scrutineering (might just drive, if its close enough to Porirua) Arrange transport to Manfeild. (Unfortunately I no longer have a suitable tow car, nor do I have a trailer. Have previously always had a road legal car ) Hopefully I can get it done, cos there is nothing else I'd rather do for my 21st. Oh, and thanks to everyone who has helped me out so far. It is greatly appreciated. Feel free to contribute by checking out my current E30 bits for sale thread. Cheers

Good work Jack. Kinda motivates me to find a way around my financial woes and keep my racer. Might have to look into storage whilst I complete my pilot training, so that in a few years time I can come along to knock you off the podium.

The main issue here is that car batterys are not designed to provide large, constant voltage. They are designed for large, short bursts (starting). So if the alternator is not responsive enough, as stated above, then the battery cannot help out either, so a capacitor will provide a solution. Another solution is to run the audio off a seperate deep cycle battery, also charged off the alternator. However thatd be far heavier.

Looks black enough that id be happy . Blue is better anyway. Still stick by my comment re the orange indicators.
-
Oil change! And noticed my car has slow leaks of: -Coolant -Power steering fluid -Oil. Might have to sort those out sometime...
-
Also welcome, but I gotta say i disagree with Tristan. I personally think both the orange indicators, and chrome grill give good contrast to the gorgeous black paintwork. New wheels is a definite must though, and maybe a bit of low

Really? I have the normal under 25s excess, but nothing special. And it's because it was initially insured for $1200 when it was just 3rd party fire + theft, but now i want full.
