    Awkward

Ive done that before with my old telstar too.. 3 guys lifting the back and we got it back onto the road (only benefit of FWD)
  3. I just like the shark mouth
  4. I dont drive with them on in bright sunlight, but i do like to turn them on in anything less... The added visual impact from a car with its headlights on is pretty noticeable (you noticed, didnt ya?) so I think it helps people to see you.

    Awkward

Ok hows this then. Xmas eve 2008, driving the E30 up to Opunake from Wellington. The traffic is backed up at the passing lanes at Mackays crossing/just before 'pram. I get to the merge where im blocking both lanes of traffic and stall the car. It won't start. Batterys dead. Have to jump out, and in front of two HUGE queues of traffic push my car to the side of the road, and wait 1hr for the AA to come save me. And for all that. The bolt on the battery negative terminal was missing, causing it to not charge properly. Awkward much?
  7. Ok, just to double check, if I use two OEM brackets (or one OEM and one replica ) then i don't need the strap across the top? Because the strap across the top actually interferes with the bonnet mechanism when the battery sits in its correct position. I've put two brackets on, and i cant get the battery to move

    HB Emily Mary-Anne P

HB old lady . Jokes oi.
  9. Yep, i'll be off there after lunch... just gotta fix an exhaust leak first haha..
  10. Cheers, I might get hold of an OEM clamp and then go from there... Managed to fix up my current clamp a little so that it has no slack on the bolts, but i'll have to see if the OEM clamp removes all movement or not.. And yeah, i do have the proper DIN battery, i made sure of that!
  11. Yes they can. One word in fact. ALPINA!!! *drools*

    "Rangi Mods"

Throttle cable rubber bush that holds the engine end in place snapped... so cable-tied tight around it to ensure it doesnt slip off the mount and jam my throttle partway open... but i didnt tell you that...
  13. To balance out the engine? sh*t, how heavy is your handbag?
  14. Might try that out... Hope pickapart has one... umm now how do i get a broken bolt out of the OEM mounting hole?

    GRUNT5

And in the meantime you two both should come watch the intermarques this Sunday haha. If Oli, Kerry and I can all secure our batterys adequately enough for the scrutineers
  16. Thats what i had. Failed scrutineering because the battery was free to move sideways when pushed hard...
  17. I'd so have that over a brand new swift.

    GRUNT5

I have an empty section my parents own, next to my house... can park it there if you want Just a convenient 20min drive from the CBD haha, and my Lachsilber beastie in the garage next door for company :bleh:
  19. Umm not really an option when i need it by Sunday for the first round of intermarques lol. I don't know if an OEM one is good enough? I know its plenty for on the road, but i also know the E30 regulations clearly state an additional or alternative clamp is required...
  20. The original clamp wasnt, it was very similar to that ^^^ Its actually held down by the ledges on the bottom of the battery, as all DIN batterys have... but i don't know, i want something better if i can but have 2 days to fix it!!!!
  21. Hey guys, just failed scrutineering tonight on my make-shift battery clamp on my E30. I was wondering if anyone out there has any inventive solutions for clamping the battery on one of these? I am not allowed to move the battery from its location inside the engine bay, and the factory clamp is long gone... Anyone know if this would work/be acceptable? (bolted in place of course, just a mock-up below) Thanx heaps

    X5 4.6IS 2002

Yep, that works for Radar. But laser is a direct beam of invisible radiation, which upon hitting the surface of your vehicle bounces back to the gun giving a speed reading. The only possible way to block that would be either sheath the vehicle in a skin which absorbs radiation, or emit that same radiation in ALL directions at once (so that it will definitely get the gun) to confuse the machine.... Good luck doing either of those... Unfortunately the police are using lasers more and more, as they are harder to detect and a LOT cheaper than their Radar units, which are no longer fitted to most cars...
  23. Random number generator? Have each name correlated to a number... Or i could build you a funky program to run haha

    X5 4.6IS 2002

Don't mean to hijack here, but you cant "jam" laser. Best you can do is detect it so you have some warning to slow down. Very nice looking X5 though, i thought they were ugly when i first saw them, but they are totally growing on me.
