  1. doesnt have to be a dealer, but i would go to someone who knows their Bimmers(Beemers are BMW motorbikes). The service book should tell you which inspection is due,ie I or II,but going by average numbers i would say you are due for a ins II.For you information the service schedule goes,at appro 12-15 thousand ks oil service inspectionI oil service inspection II oil service etc etc
  2. I cant comment specifically on E 38s but a lot of information you get on the internet is not real. For instance if you research e 34s you will find a website that lists "what will break" Of course it lists everything than can and will break on E34s(and every other car)But unless you buy a shitbox, they dont happen all at once.At around 160,000km you can expect to have to replace some parts(radiators, hoses, maybe waterpump etc) but you will be right for another 160,000km.BMW are made to be serviced and maintained and they will go for a long time(except maybe some of the recent models with so called long life or extended services)My 1990 535 has done 220,000 kms,and is ready for another 220,000 ks.A typical service will cost 500 to 750 and occur every 30,000km. in between the major services(inspection I or InspectionII) there is basicaly a lube or Oil service The electric are complex so they can cause problems, not will, but maybe. There isnt anything else you could compare a seven series too....drive a few then try something else.!
  3. i dont really use my phone much,so cause my daughter and wife have telecom, i have one too. Both my and Marys are prepay, but we bill em to our home phone number so its quite convenient.Amy has telecom so she can get her thousand texts(boost?) and she uses them too!
  4. i have used the outfit on the corner of Webb and Hopper street(Blair Wright?),and The Surgery and had a good job done on my E34,the former with an incident with left front wheel, and the latter after I got rear ended on the motorway(he was nearly stopped when he hit me but you should have seen his diamante!!!)
  5. ummm how about a BMW dealer?
  6. pics of the car with some of the interior would be all we need to put you right.635s are an iconic BMW but they were prone to rust, esp if they were ex the UK.I can almost guarantee it wont be an "m6" but it might have some motorsport bits but they are only dress up bits really. In my experience 5 and 6 series motorsport cars ussually have leather BUT the UK market is a different kettle of fish altogether.Mechanically the 635 would be pretty bullet proof too esp if manual.

    big turbo M30

what ignition system /ecu you gonna use? Is that a E28 M30 or is it out of an E34?
  8. I bet Jochen could help too,esp with your nav set up,but also with your video/audio set up
  9. make sure alignment etc is up to scratch sports supension will sit a bit lower than std slightly with possibly a more aggressive set up Not sure if your car has anti roll bars, but upgrade or install to mtech std minimum, and lower it a bit.

    tweaking m30

chip cam and "blueprint".Maybe extractors but the steering box gets in the way of most "mass produced" ones. The chip has to match our dirty engines. Most E 34 markets had cats and oxygen sensors, ours didnt. To get the best results out of a chip you need higher octane fuel.Dont forgetthe yanks use a different octane rating than we do.Their 91 would be at least 95
  11. look at the front mudguard gap!!!!
  12. i have bought a ice link unit and a cd 43 from a guy in the states. He has had to make up a little harness to make it compatible.I will let you know when i get it all.It wont be plug and play to fit it in my car(1990 535) but apparently it is plug and play in 92 (or so) in later cars.I beleive the ICE is a denison too
  13. if you feel like a drive to Manfeild(Fielding) there is an sprint meeting on 3 june,22 july,19 aug,30 sept,2 dec information here
  14. would never be right after that...
  15. classic e 34 problem esp at about 90 KM/HR..control arm bushings, replace with 750iL or e 34M5.These cars very sensitive to wheel balance and wheels MUST be concentric. If you have after market wheels make sure you have a hubcentric ring to make sre the wheels are centred when they are put on.Most common aftermarket(or E39) wheels have 74.5 hub dia, mm but e 34 hub is 72,5mm
  16. it looks big, even in the pics, they must be huge wheels.Ass looks like an alfa, but I am intrigued!
  17. your clutch is on its last legs, and i would suggest the clutch is making the gearbox problems worse.Sounds like the gearbox has its own problems too. They are not "light" gearboxes to use,but i never never ever select the wrong gear.It should be a bit of a mission to select reverse, too.I think reverse is better next to first than next to fourth. My car has a pretty steady idle but it is never dead steady and sometimes rises and falls buy itself but a throttle blip always steady,s it.Give the old girl a good tune up and go from there.I would suspect a sticky idle control valve(cylindrical object "embedded" in inlet hose) or a vacumn leak. And 160,000 miles is a fair bit it may be time for a head gasket, but heater core pipes are the likely culprit. With some care these engines do much more than 160,000 mikes
  18. its more comple than that. Its a combination of things. Cars have never been cheaper Globalised media Cell phones ,internet make communication with large numbers of people very very easy Alcohol has never been easier to get Whats the answer? We all need to be more responsible for ourselves.each other and our families I beleive the learner /inexperienced driver does need to have some restriction on the power of their cars, maybe some system more like the motorcycle system I am sure some higher speeds crashes happen because of the modifications to the shitboxes suspension(and maybe some not so shitboxes),and the ridiculous driving position that is fashionable. All generations have had hoons, just not hundreds at a time in the same place, with large numbers of people drunk and encouraging behaviour that is later regretted.
  19. must be pretty bad if they spotted it.I mean they dont spin them up or anything do they? Its why i go to vehicle testing stations, they have no vested interest, and before you complain they are to tough, who do you think you are fooling.....
  20. I think we all know the Seller.....
  21. Might be in touch about my new CD43 and Ipod adapter!
  22. NO...just about all 5 6 7 and 8 series cars share the same wheel offset, including the E39 .The E39 has a peculiar hub size 74.1 instead of the 72.5 of the rest of the bigger cars, including the e60 3 series wheels generally do not suit the bigger cars, because their offsets are quite different However a lot of aftermarket wheels have a hub dia of 74.1,si you are sweet there.
  23. i would suspect the wiring to the seat itself. The seat moves so must flex the wires, stuff gets caught under seats etc.Have a look and see if there are some bare wires or stressed connections.Sounds like a short circuit, might be in the switch too.
  24. remember too that 5 series BMW are not light cars.heavy car/low profile tyres/pothole= bent rim
