  1. apparently the 8 is a autobahn stormer.....however i bet the silky smooth v12 ,which are very torquey will feel absolutely unreal....I cant even begin to think what it will feel like as you squeeeeeeze the loud pedal at about 3500 in third as you pull out to overtake a line of traffic on a long uphill.....There was an 850 auto at Page European the other day.....obviously an import and a bit rough too..

    50 k puts you in e 39 m5 territory...thats all i need edit 10-20 would get me a nice BMW R1100 or R1150 for fine day fun and economical and efficient commuting
  3. the exhaust is 5 or six hundred degrees as it exits the cylinder so the manifold has to be able to cope with being that hot...Maybe aluminium would melt!.
  4. the hard stop method without stopping is to prevent any material from the pad "welding" itself to the disc,If you do and material is deposited on the dis then you have a pulse...some may think the disc is warped.So after the hard stop method keep driving until the discs are completely cool.
  5. I thought large case was required for M5 and 540 only?

  7. our run isnt too far from you....it starts at manakau which is 10 k south of levin..thats the most southern point really.Have a think about it.

    Yes thats the carI beleive you cant get much closer than a 1990 535is and a 1994 540 is....I am not talking about your car Not a fan of the light grey interior..could live with the violet tho.
  11. i thought about getting one but hooking it under the bonnet somehow..couldnt see a way of doing it badly enoughto do it...have seen a few lying in the middle of the motorway too.

    your comments also apply to my car Cain,but i bet i would be lucky to get six,and its pretty mint,not perfect but pretty damn good.So i would be looking at say the best part of 10 to get a 540 is...even tho i know how nice they are it just doesnt add up...even for me.I have my eye on the 130 000 k one but it is way over the top at 22

    Would have to be a Minter I am afraid Cain....or someone who was specifically looking for a 540 IS.( ie six speed,mtech suspension, sports seats,all the options,etc)
  15. jumper leads,some cleaning stuff,couple spare bulbs,jacket,2 umbrellas one of which is broken.occasionally a 1 l bottle of oil
  16. seat twist well known...ussually the cable outer needs to be shortened so the cable itself can engage the drive again
  17. most likely a body kit,slightly lower suspension,and sports seats.Not really such a thing as a M535i in the E34.prolly more accurate to call them a 535is,but the sports is just the above options.The M30 are pretty bullet proof as long as maintenance is kept up to date.Most common problems would be front thrust arm bushes and or ball joints,and sticky heater valves,worn wiring on the boot hinge and failed brake light switches.The electrical system is pretty involved but based on simple priciples(lots of wires and relays.If you want to scare your self silly look at a website called E34.net,what will break.THey dont all happen at once!

    if a manual should be six speed of course.I dont thin the 540or even the 540 is in NZ had the self levellng rear.Is it a 540is with the body kit and sports seats?There is a 130 000km one on trade me at the mo for 22,000 and the last couple of 540is in wellington about a year ago went for about 13000i guess if it isnt an IS a couple of grand less is about right.The V8 is slightly more difficult to work on the the in line sixes,but you get a very nice 210 kw of power and torque to match.
  20. look into getting a flywheel from a e 28 and forget about the e34 dual mass one...its prolly nearly stuffed anyway.

  22. there is a bmw wrecker in upper hutt..last i was there he had three or four e 34s in various stages of dismantling....that was a couple of years ago.Give me a shout if they have anything I work in Upper Hutt.I have one rear bumper trim,left rear you can have it.

  24. they might be only a few mph slower but will accellerate and brake like a glacier in comparison to the 650 kg F1 cars
