    Tyres

ok i have learned something...I run 235 45 17 all round on 8 in rims, what are your specific recomendations for the e34....bearing in mind my comments above. Its not about cheap,i could have got cheaper, but i honestly thought the bridgestones were a cut above average
  2. 13)Driver,dont drive if you are ill, tired, or UIDorD 14)Dont forget to take a basic car cleaning kit,..... 15)FIRE EXTINGUISHER 16)Jumper leads 17)Tow rope(do you know how/where your tow hooks/covers come off)

    Tyres

Bridgestone GIIIAre you serious!!??? Are they really that bad? Or are newer tyres THAT much better I want a good performance tyre in that as you say your tires are the only thing stopping your flying of into the boonies, but i dont track my car i use it daily, and i dont want to buy new tyres every 15000 k...or am i deluding myself.Do i NEED $1000 pirellis or by buying in the 250 300 each am i an accident going somewhere to happen? I am a momentum conserving type driver so sometimes my mid corner speeds mght be higher than a "normal" driver, but i dont race up to corners and slam on the brakes, either.
  5. yes have a good one everyone!Be careful and watch out for the idiots.I want to see evryone AND their cars back next year!
  6. I think tyres are quite subjective..I like my bridgestone gIII in 235/45/17 on my e 34 535.
  7. Cain i think your 540 has some kind of valve on the clutch to prevent "Dropping".and i think its that that gives the dead feel....
  8. can some one explain why the trap speeds are down but the times are faster???(except for the last run)
  9. thanks Brent will check, was brilliant today, you dont realise how damn nice these cars are until you drive em after something else....
  10. started fine ,fist time at low revs(slowing then accellerating at a roundabout was missing then ok,did this a couple more times, then onto motorway went onto five cylinders and a bit of backfiring, mostly ok after that, and fine on the way home to nite....spark plugs, fuel pump, rotor, leads????
  11. you need one of those old skool headlight dip swotches,to mount on the floor, dont ask me how to wire it though
  12. yep buyin cas is money down the drain...MANY moons ago i bought a torana gtr had it for years sold it for the same money.I never intend to buy a new car.I will buy a near new one,let the first owner take the big hit.....nice huh.

    Early e34 535's

i can get 10.5 but onlyon flat gentle runs,i can sometimes show instant readngs of 9 something on a flat smooth motorway......I beleive i am quite an economical driver and as i said i struggle to get any thing better than 11 .Every long trip will include at least a couple of serious overtaking runs( ie lots of throttle and third gear) and one italian tune up run...ussually up the mangawekas......the yanks sem to get 25 mpg and thats (us gallons ) on trips

  18. for my 535,inspection 2 750,ins 1 was about 500 although that included some extra work, oil service I ussually diy....all page european. They arent cheap but i reckon they know what they are doing.
  19. only the slightly later models will have the air bag and if it has got an air bag it will be in the steering wheel.Stereo purely up to you, i think mine is pretty good but i think i have the upgraded 10 spkr version(actually only eight but must have some two ways somewhere.)The 525 will prolly also have a std amp in the boot but as I say its in the ear of the listener... ps my pic of car seats above shows a non airbag wheel 1990 reg nz new car

    Early e34 535's

Mark D seems a very busy man...He will come through. I am with you scd.I dont think ANY nz new m30 would have had a sensor and or cat,in fact i would say no nz new e34 had a sensor and cat.....we didnt get unleaded petrol till 95 or so..... I think the sensor and late dme would increase efficiency by always running the car as lean as possible.....the yanks seem to get quite good economy on the "freeway "
  21. I have black leather and today getting in the car after work it was #$@&^ hot,but the seats themselves werent bad...i never wear shorts in the car though leather sports seats......cant be beat....
  22. ok you have been a bit confused by us....the on board computer indicates the service requirements. When the car has been serviced and the indicators reset there will be 5 lights green lights showing which will disapear one by one over the next few months. It is dependent on how you drive your car,but my services fall about 12000 k.The service schedule goes oil service ,inspection 1, oil service, inspection 2 oil service ,inspection1,etc etc. Some cars also indicate an annual inspection which is a reminder to change engine coolant and brake fluid and may have something to do with annual safety inspections in other countries.........oil service prolly couple hundred inspection 2 several hundred insp 1 somewhere in between
  23. i dont think they are bmw that car would have come with metric rims too my GUESS is schnitzer replias.I think you can get those type for threes as well.3 series wheels have a different offset than 567 and 8 rims which are mostly interchangeable between 567 and 8(not to mention the 5 stud layout ton the latter
