if you need the rollcage so you can do more tracktime do that and by the time you have saved more dosh you will have aquired the skill to use the extra power which hopefully will be more than enough to offset the weight of the cage......

the interweb and real life maybe closer than you think.....as in the real world when the great unwashed respond to stimulus instead of just the normal suspects we get the uprising we had recently....and then things happen.Martyns rating system may give some warnings before we get to that point.
  8. 535 1990 200,000kms all minor electrical ones for me,headlamp washers dont work, intensive clean doesnt work, glovelight bulb blown, boot wiring has broken wire to rr fog light, sometimes double lock results in drivers door staying locked...,and every now and then it takes a LOT to start when warm to normal lkm resolderes,a few S at local auto electrician new brake light switch bout 80 replaced myself, for brake light warning perhaps something more sinister, had to top up coolant the other day!
  9. E34 535 manual I hate autos,but i dont do lots of stop go...might be different
  10. mines only a baby at 200,000,there are guys on an american e 34 site that are talking 300 000 miles,on 535s ussually a headgasket in there somewhere...
  11. well known on my e 34 site
  12. drove a 530d today and although you know its not a 3 litre petrol it NOT like any deisel i hve ever driven, its very very impressive,i think anyone who drove one would be impressed. It may lack the very last tenth or whatever in accel and top speed but normal driving it was just amazing....open road driving i dont think you would ever need to change down..
  13. I am sure there are people in the BMw club who could help you out with the "requirement" side of things.Incorporated Societies have certan requirements. If you want to run events like Ghymkhanas you may need to be affilated to Manz...If you get stuck get hold of steve or hugh down here, esp Hugh he seems to lots about that side of things. As treasurer of The welligton club i can tell you its not that demanding.....I hope things work out!
  14. for good reason too.when the tyre rubs on the inside its almost impossible to keep track of how they are wearing,so it could be almost worn through when you go on your big road trip.......ever had a blowout or rapid tyre deflation at speed?
