BEJAYZ "In storage" - why am I not surprised?
-
Chris. I think I have some you can have. Not sure when I'll be down your way though.

The driving light is probably a bulb or a dirty connection on the bulb. If it is a halogen bulb, don't touch the glass with your fingers - use a handytowel or something else clean as dirt and oil on the glass will cause it to blow if it turns out to be a good bulb. Same advice goes for installation of a new bulb. I would definitely be getting the airbag light checked out though.

I'm with Chris (ED1RTY) on this one. Fortunately I have a paddock track at home on the parents lifestyle block if I want to throw a few O's. Plus the burnout pad at Dargaville is not that far away if its burning rubber I crave. The other issue about doing it on the road is damage to the road surface. Our roads are crap enough as it is. Most of you probably don't know, but diesel acts like a solvent with bitumen, so when you are merrily pouring diesel on the road for a smoky burnout, a week or so later there is a nice patch of stuffed seal. It affects chip seal more than hot mix.

It appears to be a tidy, manual (rarish) 328i with msport trimmings. Yeah its up there pricewise, but most M3's go for a fair whack more than that, and it wasn't so long ago these cars were asking that sort of manoey. i'd hardly say he was on drugs - a little optimistic maybe.

I was being facetious.

A BMW that changes its own oil! 1L/1000km, 5L capacity = no oil after 5000km = service time. In a similar vein when we bought our two new v6 four-stoke Yamaha 150's for the CG boat the dealer told us not to top the oil up during running-in, and to take note of the level after running in. Apparently the motors find their own level and topping up over this amount simply burns the oil away. Sure enough the oil dropped to about 5mm below the top mark on the dipstick on Starboard and not at all on Port and never moves from there.

The problem with name and shame is the wrecker doesn't get a chance to tell his side of the story. There have been issues before where someone who was named/shamed threatened legal action and an apology had to be made. I'm not sure what the official policy is, but be very careful with name/shame. If it were me I'd name them, but I would stick to the bare facts and try not to make it a personal attack. ie: "I have received some poor service from XYZ wrecker. Supplied me with leaking shocks. Had to spend considerable time on phone to receive a suitable replacement set and then top nuts were missing. Wrecker was not interested in supplying me with missing nuts as had thrown them out. Expect better service than this. Would not deal with again."

Go My Controls on the grey bar above this thread. Click My Avatar Settings halfway down lefthand side. Then enter link to picture or upload from your computer. Picture must be less than 100x100pixels and less than 200kb. Use photoshop or GIMP or IrfanView or similar to edit your picture to the correct size. Edit: Hybrid beat me.

They came out with a couple of tanks. There's a 55L a 65L and the SA long range which I think is about 80L??? Just tell them it gets between 8.5L and 11.5L/100km open road/city driving depending on your driving style which is about right for a 325i. I get about 9L/100km on the open road with a moderate right foot.

14odd seconds. Damn the fuel fill and braking point let me down.

Chalk it up to bad experience. sh*t happens unfortunately. You'll waste more time and money and get nowhere chasing after it IMO.

Why is "i" injected when German for injected is einspritz? Also stickied and added E86, E61, E91, E92, & E93.

BMW drivers mke BMW drivers look bad. For a second year graphic design paper my sister had to design a fold-away mountain bike for BMW owners to fit in the back of their bimmers. The class started by listing the perceived traits of BMW drivers. Trust me, no-one should buy a BMW if its for show to make them look good as it has the exact opposite effect. Didn't you used to have one that fits that description exactly?? And on topic: The more pics the better. Especially if its as hot as this car.

lol. Do you mean torsion (as in the spring) or torsen (as in the type of diff)? and does the astra have either??? He says torsion bars (ie the spring). On the one hand he says they're old skool (which would hint at the spring) but on the other he says that means the bum never lets go (which would hint at the diff). Torsion bars don't provide any more grip than coil springs in theory. Without ever meeting the guy I wouldn't call him a muppet personally. I imagine its hard to write about any car and not get something wrong the purists and nerds will notice (like pretty much every article on any BMW in Classic Car). At least he has good choice in cars (M3) and bikes. -
Deleted your post Ashkan. Witty though it was. The original poster has a point. I know he invited a bit of OT discussion by posting that video, but lets keep it clean.

Someone got a deal. That's why I am usually too chicken to run $1 reserve auctions.

Mod's Motors Not the best motoring newsletter, granted, but good prizes usually. I won a motorsport DVD once which was pretty cool. -
Nice. I've heard that joke told as a racist joke. Yours is much better.

Click Not that you should care, but I found it interesting. Wee plug for bimmersport in the Q&A aswell.

Part of the attraction is 1) accessibility - you don't need to drive a distance to a venue on a specific day at a specific time, then queue, pay, follow safety guidelines etc when pulling o's down a back street. 2) thrill - of illegal street racing/illegal doughnuts. 3) alcohol - quite rightly banned from motorsport events, but quite alright in the backseat of your mates piece of sh*t. You'll never get them off the street by providing a venue. And they do "open up meremere". Heard of Night Speed drag wars? Its $40 ($25 with sportsman license which is $50 per annum) for race entry. ($15 for spectators). All you need is a WOFable car, a helmet and a fire extinguisher and you can go. But like I said you have to get to meremere on the right day at the right time with your entry fee and safety equipment in your WOF'd car etc etc. hardly as convenient as a quick burnout at the end of the nearby cul de sac. NB (car may be accepted without WOF if it passes scrutineering).

Holy f**k - is that green car on the motorway an e30??? See how the 56yo wears his seatbelt whilst driving the yellow thing?
-
They're both SOHC. '92 e34 525 had M50b25 which is DOHC which is probably what this car has.

Recycling stations (ie transfer station/tip) often have oil free oil dump for non-commercial quantities. It gets recylcled. I drop mine off at the marina. There's a recylcling dump there for oil from boats and I'm at the marina more often than I'm at the dump.
